Ridiculous Bails

  • Two men who allegedly tagged “The Bean” sculpture in Millennium Park early on July 2nd were each ordered held on $10,000 bail after Cook County Judge David Navarro said he “[takes] offense at these offenses, these crimes that were alleged.”

Neither Rey Ortega nor Tino Guzman, both 20, has a criminal record. And Guzman isn’t even charged with painting the sculpture. He’s accused of spray painting a nearby bench.

But, because Navarro was “offended,” they sat in jail needing much more money to go free than many other defendants who appeared in the judge's courtroom this week. Gun offenders and even people who allegedly battered cops after the Chicago Pride Parade were given much lower bail amounts by Navarro this week.
Some of the more outrageous bails?
  • Johnathon Bustos, 22, is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer and resisting arrest after he allegedly pushed a police officer from behind and then spit in the cop’s face at the Belmont Red Line station following the Pride Parade on Sunday. Navarro’s Offense-O-Meter prompted the judge to set bail for Bustos at $3,000 — less than a third of the amount given to the two sculpture taggers.
  • Police said they arrested 18-year-old Tavontee Fox after finding him in possession of a loaded .357 magnum near the intersection of Michigan and Chicago Avenues around 11 p.m. on July 1st. He’s charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon. An “unoffended” Navarro gave Fox a recognizance bond.
  • Sh'Knolly Smith, 25, was charged with felony aggravated battery of a police officer after she allegedly spat bloody saliva into a cop's mouth on the 3300 block of North Halsted Street following the Pride Parade, according to court records. Police said they saw Smith bleeding from her mouth while engaged in a fistfight around 12:45 a.m. on July 1st. As an officer led Smith to a transport vehicle, she turned toward the uniformed cop, looked him straight in the face, and spat bloody saliva in his mouth, according to a police report. Smith then wiped her bloody mouth on the officer’s uniform shirt, police said. Navarro set bail for Smith at $1,000, possibly indicating that he found the allegations to be one-tenth as offensive as "The Bean’s" brief defacing.
There are others at the link up top. Not a lick of consistency throughout the system.

The truly crazy thing? Judges aren't SUPPOSED TO CARE how the case goes. They're SUPPOSED to be impartial. They're NOT SUPPOSED to be offended. They're TRIERS OF FACT, not feelings.

This will make for an interesting appellate case read...

What do you expect. No one has our backs or cares about us the police officer. the brass care more about getting their Merritt baby friends promoted by screwing us the PO's over. The Chicago machine and these citizens hate us but loves the shit heads being that they can do no wrong coming from the ghetto. It's a poverty thing. The judges are communist left wing hacks. Fuck this city, crash and burn and don't call us for help we get it. Go to your jobs and code them out and go home safe nothing more.

No bail and low bails aren’t the solution to keep repeat offenders off the street. Lady mayor, you own 100% of this now. If you don’t understand the judicial and penal system by now, you should step out. You’re in way over your head. I’m not sure how you survived being a government lawyer but I’d bet they were glad to see you go.

A once great city is spiraling downward at an alarming rate. It’ll be another Detroit by next election.

And there ladies and gentlemen is a big part of the problem that the Chicago Police and honest citizens face in the city and county. Some / most no make that ALL of these so called judges should be locked up along with those that they set free.
How you guys go to work every day and know that those you arrest will be back on the street is beyond me. Fetal hell the courts are the fetal ones and need to be held accountable.

The use of the words "lick" and "consistency" in that concluding sentence was, uhhhhhh, well, either disturbing in itself, or, disturbing in being delightful.

My left nut is debating this with my right nut as my finger taps out this comment upon my amazingly irritating smartassed phone.

(Yeah, okay, I'll cry me my own river on that.)

The consistency here is only puzzlingly inconsistent when considering certain qualities are substantially equal.

This error in consideration is founded upon common sense presumption.

Common sense presumptions have no place in considerations concerning crook county.

An obvious, well known fact.

Pointing out the lack of common sense concerning crook county activities is an unending and fruitless tilling of barren soil.

The Oklahoma Great Depression era dust bowls held more promise of fertility than common sense does here in crook county.

The only potentially positive element here is that the blood shedding may add both nutritional particles and some coagulation firming to the crook county ecosystem matrix.

Since we have not yet adopted the practice of letting the corpses decompose where they dropped, no further contributions to the blending of the soil is forthcoming.

Such is life in the big titty.

You can check if somebody is on EM by looking them up on the Cook County inmate search. They'll be listed there because EM is considered in-custody and counts as time served against any future sentence, even if that time was chillin' at home playing video games.

Ridiculous bonds from ridiculous judges taking orders from delusional politicians.
Narrative Navarro got the message.
I recall PeaceFrog Larry LightLoafer saying she was going to watch this Bean case very closely.

Not to much to say about firecracker stampedes @ Navy Pier.
Or 5 shooting incidents involving 4 or more persons shot in single incidents.
Or scores shot/shot kilt every week with the Traveling 3 Yr Wonder StupidIntended SpecialEd, who’s hiding under his desk or locked in some bathroom, and when called upon closing Interstate Highways doing peace marches.
It’s not about toughness and we can’t arrest our way out of the problems he says. It’s bond.
Bonds too low or too high depends on the current trend, denomination and phone call.
Every Dem run big city is doing it and every Dem run big city is overrun in violent crime.

All those chases lead to all those CB’s, leads to all those CR’s.
What’s the ridiculously affordable priority ... the 1st & 16th.

Just shows the absolute corruption in crook county court system, the call was made the judge told exactly what to do to keep his spot and like the little dog he complies to his master. Why were not 1 but 2 inspectors at 26th and cal today? Heard 1 say to the other "is the 1/2 day sergeant here? Don't know who they were talking about, but know it is a fact they are watching the comings and goings here, just be careful unless your china-man is powerful you may be the next victim terminated,or minimum in callback, or even worse case terminated and charged with stealing time. Years ago before all the cameras, and video you could "skate," now you have to ask yourself is it worth it?

With Lori the mayor on the warpath blaming police for absolutely everything stay out of the limelight, if your featured on her radar your gone, and the media circus will start!I worked in intelligence for awhile and it is not hard to plant extra cameras and equipment in buildings don't be to sure we are not being watched coming and going! Not an alarmist but protect yourself and your family. They are also going after residency with a vengeance, personally know of 2 coppers recently caught living outside the city, and they are stripped in callback, waiting for outcome and the outcome could be termination, unless you have that call that china-man on speed dial!
