Security might have been helpful in our society long ago, but now they only keep honest people honest. They're decorative at best when it comes to crime.
But the reality is this. Large retailers would rather avoid confrontation with criminals, because they don't want to be involved in any litigation. They'll take the loss, and pass the cost onto the consumer.

HEY That"s The Same as NAVY PIER SECURITY , Not that Long ago they got rid of the Security Force that was there before , That worked well with CPD that was assigned there at that Navy Pier Beat with Ex CPD Vince Gavin ,and Jimmy Miller , But Sure enough they got rid of everyone and brought in the Useless low life Universal Security , only because they could pay them Shit , Like $10 - $12 a Hour , Most of all the Security people brought in was from The Cabrini Green and Alligator Gardens and Englewood Neighborhoods , Real Class Security , ANYTHING TO PAY PEOPLE LESS . Thats why you had that incident where some idiot Security Guard Yelled GUNNNNNNNNN and caused that Stampede

Used to work the Pier off duty for those guys. It was a nice job and those guys got it. Lori Healy, John Graeber and Brian Murphy fucked that place up.

That’s because AYS overflows the place with non LEO’s with the lowest denominator and too few LEO. When a fight breaks out they don’t get involved and the real police are spread too far apart. The police wear black and these mutts wear those white security shirts.

actually, not far from the truth. When I retired I took a security guard job at a bank ( big mistake). Yes, I was armed, but they told me not to interfere in any robberies. Let the stick up guy get his money and escape then lock the door behind him. The money is insured and they did not want any customers hit by stray rounds.

Yes, I was there for many years, the old crew wasn’t half bad as far as security goes. When they made the switch, it looks like they went to the west side, gathered up the corners and gave them security shirts. They’re a bunch of unprofessional goofs, and most of them probably can’t even legally own a gun. I don’t blame this guy though, this is exactly what you get with unarmed security. He’s just some random schmuck, with nothing but his hands to stop what he thinks is a mass shooting. Take cover buddy, in the event of a real one, that’s about as useful as you’ll be.
