Solid Start to Weekend
- One man was killed and three other people were wounded in a shooting Thursday in Humboldt Park on the West Side.
The group was standing outside about 11:30 a.m. near Iowa Street and Homan Avenue when a car drove by and someone inside started shooting, according to Chicago police.
- Four people were stabbed at Navy Pier following the Fourth of July fireworks display, according to reports.
Ambulances were called about 10 p.m. for at least four stabbing victims at the pier, according to unconfirmed police radio reports.
There were also reports of a stampede and multiple lost children.
No idea why Groot and the aldercreatures weren't there keeping the peace. They are authorized Peace Officers, correct?

About 8 yrs ago we took an out of state relative to the pier as they wanted to see it. After having been on the job I was apprehensive about going there. We got there late in the afternoon saw some sights and had dinner. It was starting to get dark and you know how you have that sense that things don't feel right, I said lets get going. Just as we were pulling out of the pier's parking lot the police were flying in in cars and bikes. Glad we got out when we did. We will never go back there nor do we go into the downtown area. Been there done that for 35 yrs.
This was clearly a test Lori, citizens and Police.

I would like to congratulate the officers who worked the American Independence Parades or Fourth of July celebrations in Pilsen, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park and Little Village. There has been a history of gang fights and unruly behavior at other nation’s obligatory independence celebrations arranged by local democrat politicians who communicate their message and name recognition and party identification in a foreign language.
The residents were so well behaved it was like the American celebration of independence never happened. And the patriotism and self identified nationalism from the local democrat politicians was on display for all to see. Even the aclu had nice things to say about America. Between the aclu representatives and the democrats, the praise for America was overwhelming. And the waving of all those American flags was dizzying and the draping of American flags on vehicle operated in the neighborhoods by intoxicated unlicensed drivers expressing true love for the country they most identify with was a sight to see.
These celebrations were not even covered by the local media who promote the migrant message often using native accents as to pretend they are culturally enlightened and fluent in foreign pronunciations. It was almost like America, the land of opportunity free stuff and relaxation of so many laws both state and federal, wasn’t even celebrated or acknowledged for all the accommodations afforded to all regardless of origin. How transformative.
The politicians in this city are the height of effin hypocrites.
It was reported in the Sun-times that for security and safety everyone going to the fireworks display had to pass through security check points in to the park for safety, and if it gets too crowded access would be denied.
If it makes sense to have security check points at the fireworks and deny access if the event becomes overpopulated, why the hell doesn’t it make sense to do the same for the city and county!
Amazing the media doesn’t ask the Mayor and Dirtbin that question.

In Washington, DC for 4th of July Independence Day celebrations. Parade (2 hrs. long but worth it), speeches, marching bands, floats, military equipment & flyovers and the best fireworks show that I have ever seem. Terrific speech by President. Proud to be an American.
The Mall was packed with people from all over the country and believe it or not from other countries (France, Germany, Viet Nam, China, India, Taiwan, etc.) all coming together for Independence Day in the Capital. Overwhelmingly wearing stars and stripes, flag waving, and many, many Trump signs and same for baseball caps, T-shirts, lady's attire. A few anti demonstrators scuffling with Police. No Problem - DC Police are real Police. They arrest law breakers. Very efficient, professional and they were in force. Overall a truly great experience.
Then today, I watch national news and its filled with chaos, mob rule, stabbings, people trampled, shooting, murder and mayhem in Chicago and Navy Pier. Lightfoot on TV saying she is please with progress made in handling violence in city. Lori looked tired, strained and worn out.
I guess "All hands on deck" didn't work so well for the Mayor and her administration. We still have the weekend to go. One can only wonder how many more citizens will be gunned down before the end of the week. Another failed attempt by a progressive, sophomoric and inexperienced Mayor. Chicago is a national embarrassment.

On the scanner last night , I heard the boss refusing to let an officer take a "failure to appear" warrant arrest in. He ordered the officer to do an ISR later. "We need everyone out here!" I believe that was the quote. I've been retired a while but I understand an ISR takes time. I could knock out a warrant arrest report in 15 minutes in my day, including the notification and print out, 30 after we went to automated arrest reports LOL. I hope it wasn't a failure to appear for Battery to a PO. First time I ever heard this one. Yes, I'm sure it was a misdemeanor, but technically, he is violating a Judge's order. How does this happen? It probably has happened more than I am aware of. Kim Foxx/Tom Dart must be happy. Now we release them before court! What a disgrace!

Again!!! What is left of Chicago and the once great tourist attractions?!?! I used to take my kids along with our playgroup moms and kids twice a month to navy piers children’s museum as great exposure to the city and all that it had to offer. This was a Northshore group and we’d drop money on parking and lunch and all types of fun rides... but never again! All we worry about is keeping our children and ourselves safe from wildings and pickpockets.
We are all aware that the States Attorneys office will not pursue any true action against the minor incidents just mentioned. But our children and welfare need to come first. It’s just much easier to plan outings in areas that can be perceived as safer where we no longer worry about being stabbed or trampled upon or have a group of undisciplined youths come and snatch our phones and wallets just because they know they can get away with it. Shameful!!!

We had vri and put cops on almost every block in the ghetto and they still find a way to kill each other. Someone stabs someone else and somehow middle management is to blame? Why don’t u study for the next test, pass it, and let us know how it’s done since you have all the answers.

I’m a citizen, live in Streeterville. Was listening to scanner last night and the dispatcher was excellent. She handled every call and never got flustered and last night was a shit show. I always comment on LE and how they are respected by us hardworking citizens but after last night I have to add the dispatcher now. How you all do your job day in and out, night in and out is a testament to who you are as Americans. God bless all of you and your families and loved ones.

It’s not surprising that it doesn’t hit the media. I had numerous people approach me today asking about what happened at Navy Pier. That whole scene has been a shit show for at least ten years. I don’t know anyone that attends that event anymore. It’s pretty sad n disgusting that no decent families can enjoy the lakefront because of leftist policies n lack of preparedness. I remember going downtown as a kid for the fireworks. It was a family tradition. Then I would be detailed to the same event n watched tourists literally running away because they were being robbed. What a fuckin shame. This lays on the fuckin feet of the politicians n liberals in this city, NOT the police. They will see revenue continue to decline because of the simple reason that Law n Order doesn’t exist here.
