Many Crimes - One Gun

  • Chicago police have concluded that the same gun that killed two men in execution-style slayings last fall in the Rogers Park neighborhood was later used in separate shootings on the West Side, the Chicago Tribune has learned.

The fatal shootings just 36 hours apart of Douglass Watts, who was gay, and Eliyahu Moscowitz, an Orthodox Jew who wore traditional religious attire, shook the culturally diverse Far North Side community, sparking fears at the time that a serial killer bent on hate crimes might be on the loose.

Two weeks after their slayings, someone pulled the trigger on the same .40-caliber gun more than 10 miles away in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood, wounding two men following a petty dispute, according to police reports obtained by the Tribune through a public records request.

Then in late March, the same weapon was used in yet another shooting about half a mile west of the United Center, the reports show. No one was injured in that shooting.
All sorts of interesting theories now. But with all the gun laws passed by Illinois democrats, it's simply a matter of matching a Form 4473 to FOID records now.

That last paragraph.

Funny.

Follow the democrat thread until it ends.

It dead ends.

One way or another, zip.

And zip is the democrat way.

I’m sure it is a lot to go through with all that evidence for the assigned detectives. They need to get a task force together.

IF there was a viable gang database, a perusal of the Rumspringa Rowdies roster might offer some leads. But being a cynical Chicagoan, my suspicions skew more heavily towards a St. Sabina altarboy or antifa communerty activist.

I must have gotten lucky, none of my guns have ever shot anyone. The ones at home, the one in my car or the one in my pocket have never jumped up and fired on their own. But if they did I would hope they were smart enough to throw themselves in the lake. Perhaps it's because I don't own a .40 caliber, I have heard they are more aggressive than 38's.

This is a newer firearm “identification” unit started by Garry. It is wrought with problems-including the fact that coppers there are not even licensed by the State of Illinois. Any possible ballistic matches must still then be confirmed by the State-and as we all know the State has their own shocking levels of incompetence.

More embarrassment to the CPD will most assuredly occur when those assigned to the unit testify in court to a ballistic match when it was later confirmed there was none

Use a great deal of skepticism with these ballistic matches

The article dances around the race of the Rogers Park victims. Hate crime - yes. But the victims were selected by their race first and foremost.

Is this the same Chicago Police Department ballistics unit that found a “match” from a fired bullet recovered from a crime scene to a white Cook County Sheriff’s duty weapon who obviously had nothing to do with the shooting?? Is this the same unit whose “ballistic match” caused the Sheriff to then go through all sorts of bullshit to clear his name????

All caused by a CPD “ballistics match”

Wow! Considering that Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country I would think after the first shootings the authorities would have checked all registrations for that type of gun, rounded up the owners and taken that particular homicidal maniac off the streets. What’s that you say? Might be an ILLEGAL gun in the hands of an UNREGISTERED owner? How can that possibly happen in the Democrat Utopia of Chicago?

The assholes used to rotate guns “with a body” on them; usually trade/sell them to other assholes residing in shithole ‘burbs, illogically thinking that once out of the city there’d be less chance of it coming back to them. Now they’re even lazier because they know our hands are tied which means there’s much less chance of getting caught holding a pistol.

Enter the federal “Bulletmobile” the FSS was using for a few weeks a couple summers ago. Fired cartridge cases from shooting/homicide scenes were immediately entered into their magical database and within an hour they often had matches to other incidents in locations throughout the city and suburbs.

Only problem? When Dude does get caught with a pistol that’s been used in a shooting or homicide all he needs to say (if anything) is that he bought the gun on the street “somewhere”, some time ago from an unknown dude. Dude knows it’s next to impossible to have any particular incident applied to the actual shooter unless there’s eyewitnesses and corroborating video and physical evidence.

That bullet mobile technology was nothing more than a dog and pony show to pacify the natives when they’d hoot and holler at chaotic scenes and to buffalo the media with the latest “crime fighting technology”.

Not to worry though… maybe some of these new detectives that are five year “veterans” of the department will be able to get the clearance rate up over 12% when they bring their gusto and work ethic to the detective divisions. LMFAO.

The implication of what this reporter writes is disgusting - that there could have been no hate crime, and would have been no cause for alarm, if the victims had been straight white Gentiles.

Not surprising whatsoever.
Ballistic Info Alerts come frequently.
Plenty of collected crime scene cartridges are matched up to other incidents, it’s just that they are not as newsworthy.

So what, says Cook County Community Organizing Office, a firearm used in one crime or multiple crimes, regardless of last possessor does not warrant a charge beyond misdemeanor possession.
Can’t put a case on me for a gun I foun’t and I was only testing it because I got jumpt’on and need protection.
Put that weapons violation in the restorative justice basket with any and all the other tacked on charges that CCSAO disposes.
I can think of two cases last year where CookCo released straw buyers.

As for any cross referencing on a broad scale, it only makes short work for sworn office clerks, Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1600.

Don’t expect any help from Springfield to collect and consolidate every bit of information from DL, St. ID, FOID, CCL, IROCC with SSI, SSDI, IRS, IDOC, FBP. NFA registers. They only do this to screw with law abiding., who have but one current address.
Just like the drivers license compact and LEADS plate reg, every cross reference of firearms registrations can be accomplished just as easy.
To do this, it would expose so many disparities and blow the restorative justice narrative out of the water and since so many are transient or collect benefits elsewhere, locating firearm violators is a lengthy effort, that in Sanctuary CookCo IL refuses to acknowledge and prosecute.

Don’t forget, JB Pigster just permanently adopted the obama Traffic Study Card Program, whereas Looney Lari LightLoafer is about to toss out all Arrestee contact and investigatory data.

Getting a gun off the street may be easy and the inventory should be the only thing worth while.
But the arrest...forget about it.

My question is why this information would make it to the front pages of a newspaper without any arrests. Shitheads occasionally read the paper, and may get the idea that the bottom of the Chicago river is the best place for this hot gun. This story is either a plant or who ever leaked it should be back in a beat car next period. Time will tell.

Am I the only one suspicious of their ability to match brass to a particular gun?
Back in the days of revolvers there was a lot of hand fitting during the assembly of a gun and I might have bought that they could match brass to a particular gun. Not that they recovered brass from revolvers very often.

In the era of the plastic, machine assembled .40 cal I am not convinced that the firing pin and extractor from the 5th Glock, S&W M&P or Taurus of any particular shift is any different than the 25th or 250th of that shift.

Man, you better get over to the Area with these questions. You have merit dic written all over you. Maybe find that gun, put it in a room, shine a spotlight down it's barrel until it tells you who shot it.
And all that gun needs is a southside shooting to win at IBIS Bingo.

The ATF Bulletmobile is a joke, takes hours to set it up, does the exact same thing as the firearms section does, waste of taxpayer money. Eddie keeps talking about technology, sounds good for the media and the mayor in order to get as much money as possible from the G, but in reality, all it does is create a spot for lazy do nothings that don't want to work the street, it's what we all signed up for, working the street, sitting at a desk looking at a screen doesn't solve a crime, work the street. Guys assigned to follow-up investigations sitting around waiting for a call or calling victims families asking whodunit, give me a break.

Yep! Has anyone out their ever heard of a Lt. Shemash who was a house mouse sergeant in that unit? How many felony arrests did she make? Any of her arrests actually sentenced to death-like mine-and some other coppers? That’s what infests the CPD IBIS unit. Did Nothings. As is their lack of accomplishment.
