You'd think that someone protecting someone else in a high profile position would be conscious of the high expectations placed upon them being in the public eye. You'd guess wrong:
- A Chicago police officer assigned to Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s security detail has been charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery.
The 17-year veteran officer, [MW], turned herself in about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of West Belmont Avenue after a warrant was issued for her arrest for the June 27 incident, according to Chicago police.
During an argument, a 53-year-old woman attempted to leave a residence when [MW], 50, allegedly pinned the woman with her arm against a wall and threatened her verbally, police said. She also removed personal property from the woman and ripped her clothing, police said.
Washington was assigned to the mayor’s security detail as part of the department’s Detached Services Unit, a police spokesperson said.
Of course, you'd also think that someone actually in that high profile position would be a bit more discerning in whom they allowed to be assigned as part of the inner security team. Clue #1 - don't pick someone with a couple Excessive Force CR numbers.

I know! I know! Is it sexual orientation? Who you are attracted to sexually seems to be a very important qualification nowadays.

Orders from the mayor to Staples to the commander of area North to the Sargent Agrone. The video of the transport is available by foia request to cook county. The Sally port at dv court has a camera. Lori told the media today that the case would be handled accordingly. She left out the special treatment given to her special chosen security guard.Looks like the same old song and dance with the mayor and CPD. Will this be a topic at accountability Monday? Does this bestow a deputy chief spot for the commander? Another merit bump for Agrone?

Slightly OT, but last night while I was watching the news, I saw a video of Lori Lighthead and Special Ed doing a news conference about how the CPD was going to curb violence for the holiday weekend. As Ed was reading his script, he said that these additional officers will be "complicit" with the usual assigned forces. I did not write down his exact sentence, but he definitely said 'complicit'.
So, who is writing his script and did it really say 'complimentary' and was that word too hard to pronounce for him?

I don’t know the circumstances regarding the cr#’s but in my experience as a CPD Patrol officer, people lie. But more disturbing is that the officers photo was posted by Fox News this morning. It’s just a “he said, she said” misdemeanor. No need to post photo’s of an accused officer.

OK, I’m going to make a few inferences here...
1. The officer charged with domestic violence is identified as female, as is the victim, which gives some clues as to the sexual orientation of the officer.
2. Lightbrain is quoted say, in reference to the officer: ”It’s a person that I know. A person that I care [about] and value. But the process is gonna have to play out in normal course.” So, it’s someone Lightbrain knew BEFORE she was mayor (since she generally hates cops and hasn’t been in office long enough to “care and value” members of her security detachment. This means it’s probably someone she knew from the LGBTQ+ community prior to her election.
When you pick people for a job for reasons of their gender, skin color, sexual orientation, etc INSTEAD of their ability to do the job, bad things happen...
As an interesting aside:

Her bail for domestic violence WITHOUT a weapon or, based on the SunTimes’ story, any physical injury was significantly higher than judges have been giving repeat violent offenders caught with firearms.

Common practice for the Chicago Police Department is the strip and put officers on no-pay status once there FOID card has been revoked due to an order of protection. I have to agree with you on this one. It is pretty easy to have a complaint filed against a working cop. The fact that most of these are bogus and not sustained or even unfounded is used as ammunition by the left to claim the CPD disciplinary system is ineffective and for defense attorneys to hammer cops in court.

The Unit itself has become a joke. Use caution around JM the Hispanic female with almost 7 years on the job, she likes to file sexual harassment beefs. Can someone explain to me why there 3 Detectives assigned to the Detail? They were assigned as PO's to the Detail, got promoted. and miraculously returned to the Detail to make D3 pay plus OT. One would think that they should be working on clearing up cases instead of driving the Mayor around. I mean, that's why they took the test, right? Don't forget the one guy who should have got dumped because he couldn't play nice with the new Commander, MM got an even cushier spot. He now drives Anna Valencia the City Clerk around! Must be nice! BTW Melissa Conyears City Treasurer has a driver from the unit now, too.

Its not really a double standard, it's the higher standard that she, and you and I agreed to abide by when we took the job. With power comes responsibility, whether you like it or not.
