This Guy Again?
- He has plumbed the secrets of the Iran-Contra affair and questioned sitting presidents under oath. He has led investigations that have sent cops, judges and city employees to prison in a sprawling corruption case.
Now, legendary Chicago lawyer Dan Webb will again take up the role of special prosecutor, this time to examine whether a television actor clumsily staged a hate crime attack, then got a sweetheart deal from prosecutors.
Cook County Judge Michael Toomin on Friday appointed Webb and his powerhouse law firm, Winston & Strawn, to probe State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s controversial handling of criminal charges against Jussie Smollett, duties that could lead to new charges against the “Empire” actor and have considerable impact on Foxx’s bid for a second term.
Webb has quite the reputation to anyone who follows Chicago politics, and Toomin appears to have given him wide leeway in what and who he can investigate, including the ability to level new charges related to the staged crime. But those would be State charges, and that might endanger Prickwrinkle's State's Attorney.
One has to wonder why Smell-it hasn't been indicted on Federal charges for the stunt with the powder through the mail yet.

Webb is part of the machine. The same machine who is again backing Foxx. This town doesn’t even attempt to hide it’s corruption. It will be an investigation of a lot of fluff and it will try and make Kim look competent.

Along with a DOJ/FBI federal investigation there is still supposedly several other sideshows including:

-- a US Postal Inspection Service investigation
Depending on the outcome of Webb's investigation, Foxx could also face charges before the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (the "ARDC")

Many, Many years ago Mr. Webb was the subject to a Hot Line Child Abuse allegation. One juvenile female accuser was interviewed. The same Youth Officers were on their way to interview with his daughter, they were ordered by Area Youth Commander to not interview the daughter and told to report back to the Area Youth Office. The two Youth Officers returned to the Area Youth Office and were ORDERED TO DROP THE INVESTIGATION AND TURN OVER ANY AND ALL REPORTS on the matter to the Area Youth Commander. They were also told not to discuss this with anyone. The Youth Officers involved to this day insist that the allegations were true. One Youth Officer is dead and the other is retired and living in Florida. It is one man's opinion that this is one of the reasons why Webb hates the Police. Web has always been a Daley Family, Democratic political hack.
So now we all get to watch the big magic act.

This will be a whitewash. Webb donated $1,000 to Foxx’s campaign which is a conflict that should prevent him from serving as Special State’s Attorney. Webb is part of the machine and will not criticize the first AA female SA. His rationale will be that the SA has complete control over bringing or not bringing charges and her/his discretion cannot be questioned except at the ballot box.
Ain't nuffin gonna happen to Smollett. This is just going to Kabuki Theater..
Webb will put o a show but the end result will be the same..no fault of Foxx, acted appropriately and no additional charges...move on. However, I do think the Feds are going to wait and see how the case flows then hit Smellitt just before the 2020 elections begin along with all the other charges like Burke, Solis, Brown and others. Hopefully, the Feds can shove it up the Demorats asses before the elections !!!
