Well Done Crimesha!
- Chicago police seized several assault weapons and armor piercing bullets during a traffic stop on the city's South Side Thursday night.
Three people of interest also in custody, Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony [google-me] announced on Twitter Friday.
Officers seized the assault weapons during a traffic stop, and were "in the right place, at the right time," [police] said at a press conference Friday.

- Jordan Hill, 25, has to pay $1,000 and he can walk out of jail today after yesterday's felony gun arrest for posession of these weapons of war and armor piercing bullets. He was issued a 10,000 D-bond w/ electronic monitoring.
Quite frankly, it's amazing crime isn't ten times higher what with Crimesha letting everyone go on low bond or signatures every day of the week.

Unbelievable that cops don't know the basics of guns. Nothing in the picture is an assault weapon(rifle). All are handguns by federal law, chambered in 7.62x39 and the ammo is basic cheap Ak-47 ammo. I can't read the 5.7x28 ammo, but it's probably basic ammo one can also purchase at Cabelas. It's pathetic that a police press releases uses the anti 2nd amendment gun grabbers words of choice, like "assault weapon" and "armor-piercing".

I’m a Chicago Police Officer assigned to the DEA as TFO - Temporary Federal Officer and this case should be pushed for a federal adoption. They are big on DNA and Fingerprints. All the evidence should be processed by CPD’s Forensics. Reach out to the Chicago ATF I’m sure they would be interested in it. I would also see if any of them were full auto with those magazines and armor piercing rounds. They look like 75 or 100 round drums.

In looking at the picture I"m wondering where the "armor piercing" ammunition is at.
Unless the 7.62x39mm is Chinese Type 56 "Mild Steel Core" (prohibited from importation
into the U.S. (hmmm)) The only info I can find for the blue tip 7.62x39mm is that it
"may" be short range ball (only Hungarian and Czech designation.)
The FN 5.7x28mm seems a rather unusual caliber for gang bangers to be carrying around,
especially as no related firearm was recovered / shown. While some of the earlier
imported FN 5.7x28mm was capable of piercing a Kevlar helmet, the importation of that
type of ammunition was banded 15 or so years ago (if memory serves).
Can't make out the head stamps on the 7.62x39mm cartridges to determine where they were made, but by appearances it appears that they are standard ball type ammo.
Glad to see these are no longer in the hands of the bad guys, though it seems the bad
guys are back on the street already (at least one of them). WTF?

The ASA does not set the bond amount. They ask for an amount they would like it set at, but the judge makes the call. Often, the judge sets bond much lower than what the state asks for. We need to know what amount the state requested before we are critical.
That is not to excuse the poor job Foxx has done and her pandering - the Smollett case being the biggest indicator of her incompetence and favoritism.
However, when this arrestee commits a murder while out on bond, the victim’s family should be suing the judge who allowed a violent offender on the streets on such a low bond.

Armor piercing rounds are generally used against body armor, vehicle armor, concrete, tanks and other defenses, depending on the caliber of the firearms. What were these guys really up to. These munitions are not out in the general public. They had to have an underground source. I hope they are investigating on were they got all this from. Have these guys been in the military or a relative because large quantities of these bullets are really hard to get. Why were they using armor piercing bullets and what did they need this for. Bullets made of crazy hard metal, just about all of the criminals I arrested had lead and copper bullets. They are now arming up to rob armored cars.

Affordable bail.....how can you argue all he can afford is $1000 when he’s in possession of weapons and ammo that cost well over $1000. It is like if you lock a guy up with $15,000 and he’s to pay $500 bail because it’s “all he can afford”.
The 7.62x39 ammo shown appears to be standard rifle ammunition and would feed the guns guns shown and it not anymore armor piercing than a rifle round would normally be.
The 5.7x28 ammo is probably what “they” are referring to as the ‘armor piercing’ ammo, but none of the guns shown would fire it. The 5.7x28 when first sold attracted some public hysteria and some movement to ban it as an ‘a BODY ARMOR piercing’ round because it’s small caliber and high velocity showed it could potentially penetrate IIIA level soft body armor most commonly worn by police. However it’s potential effectiveness once it hit something was poor and now it’s pretty much a niche ammo/caliber used for plinking and killing small animals like more traditional .22 Long rifle ammo.
Police “gun experts” there is no armor piercing bullets in this picture. The bulletin was put out years ago and was false. FN stopped importing the black tipped armor piercing ammo a long time ago...there are so many know it all know nothing’s on this job. My heart goes out to all the families and first responders subjected to the madness in El Paso and Dayton. The media and politicians on the left and right are already playing the blame game due to the shooters in both massacres being white. I find it ridiculous in comparison that we here accept death of that magnitude on the south and west side every weekend by shooters of color and no one really wants to find a solution just get there sound bite to please their bases. The FIRST step is calling Congress back from break and finding common ground to address and heal and start acknowledging there is a problem and FIX it.

The ASA does not set the bond amount. They ask for an amount they would like it set at, but the judge makes the call. Often, the judge sets bond much lower than what the state asks for. We need to know what amount the state requested before we are critical.
That is not to excuse the poor job Foxx has done and her pandering - the Smollett case being the biggest indicator of her incompetence and favoritism.
However, when this arrestee commits a murder while out on bond, the victim’s family should be suing the judge who allowed a violent offender on the streets on such a low bond.

I’m seeing a lot of talk about “armor piercing” bullets. This is just the city amping up the arrest and scaring folks. They aren’t true armor piercing bullets, and can be bought at any sporting goods store throughout most of the country. The 7.62 x 39 and 5.7 x 28 rounds will go through a typical vest that a police officer wears, true. But those vests are designed to stop rounds from a pistol. These rounds can defeat a lower level soft body armor only. This is due to the design of these 2 rounds themselves, NOT the fact they are “armor piercing”. These aren’t going through tanks and armored cars. They will go through glass, car doors, and lower level soft body armor. Stay safe out there.
If the feds want they can interview and charge the three federally for the armor piercing ammo and if it was purchased out of state that would help with the jurisdiction. I’m sure there is a federal offense in there somewhere

All the evidence should be processed by CPD’s Forensics. Reach out to the Chicago ATF I’m sure they would be interested in it. I would also see if any of them were full auto with those magazines and armor piercing rounds. They look like 75 or 100 round drums.

Very good article; thanks for sharing. There is just one problem with this, The chief judges order states "As long as they are not a danger to the community"! I think someone armed with assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and armor piercing ammo qualifies as a danger. But still, the policy of letting these animals out is ridiculous, and the chief Judge needs to lose his position. Tell the DEM'S to start building additions to the jail instead of pocketing our tax money.
I quite certain that the FBI or ATF will take this case federally. Seems like a winner to me! and 80-85% of a 15 to 20 year sentence would be great. Maybe they can charge them with each armor piercing round they possessed.

I have seen engine blocks shot. A .50 BMG rifle has API Ammo that will go through it if it hits it straight. Everything else, even your Granddad's .357, just bounces off.
I have had AKs shot at me in anger many times. My buddy was hit while using a Toyota pickup as cover, the rounds went through both sides of the bed before hitting him. I'm not sure if those short barreled weapons can punch metal, but I wouldn't bet against it.
