- After a daylong manhunt in West Englewood, officers shot and arrested a man suspected of shooting a Chicago police officer on Saturday and wanted in connection with another shooting earlier in the week.
The suspect was shot about 3:35 p.m. following an “armed encounter” with officers near 64th Street and Bell Avenue, Chicago police spokesman Anthony [Google-me] said in a tweet. No officers were injured in that encounter.
The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Michael Blackman, who was wanted in connection with the shooting of a 29-year-old woman Wednesday while riding a bike through the Fulton River District, according to Brendan Deenihan, deputy chief of the Chicago police’s Bureau of Detectives.
Blackman has not given a statement, but it appeared “he randomly targeted and shot this poor woman downtown,” Deenihan said.
The papers are reporting the officer applied a tourniquet to his own leg before being taken off the scene by his co-workers. Fantastic work by everyone there to get him to safety and medical attention.

We have no drones that I’m aware of. PH1 was up but I’m not sure if they can see a guy laying in tall weeds. Maybe they can, I couldn’t say. So that leaves us with having to do it the ol fashioned way. Which like you said, is dangerous, very dangerous. But he shot one of us, so no matter the danger, we are going to get him one way or another.

Meanwhile the whole time this was going on dude was less than half a block away and could have picked off any of the 200 cops that were standing there. Bad guy in house I get waiting him out. Not sure go in and make sure. This could have been an even worse situation based on the inability of swat and this department to make a decision to go in. Thank god it wasnt.

To 5:26 PM stroke, since you had an all seeing sense of what was transpiring why didn't you take the lead of the investigation and make all the calls. It was a stressful and chaotic emotional day and the LAST thing we needed was our SWAT Team to go running blind into another ambush. Lori was at another Community meeting tonight listening to citizens and allegedly learning what are the issues that concern us. After participating in two elections (the general and the run off election) she still is gathering information on the big issues troubling Chicagoans. Her Kabuki dance is not fooling anyone. Please regale us with your knowledge of all things tactical. There were decisions being made and tips and Intel being sorted through that you were probably not privy to. Just kicking down doors hoping the shit head is actually in there isn't how shit works. Especially when all the bosses on scene won't give them the go ahead. Or maybe you haven't been paying attention to the state of law enforcement these last few years. SWAT was working with what they were told by officers who were on scene prior to their arrival. And they were working on multiple structures while also trying to coordinate with K9. Stick to drinkers and other cool tac guy arrests and let the detectives, and bosses on scene who actually know something about police work sort through all the details. Real easy to talk shit after the fact you fucking clown. And maybe if those 200 cops YOU claimed were just standing around would have been maintaining the security of the perimeter they wouldn't have to worry about being picked off as you put it. Why does Orland Park PD have drones and Chicago PD does not????? Chicago NEEDS drones to aid police in searching of offenders in fields as in this incident. Offender hiding in tall weeds as police are walking in the weeds searching. Many officers could have been killed.

Might be true in 2007 same thing happened in 2008 with stock market but happy I stuck it out. Made me a rich man 10 years later with the stock market at an all time high.
