- Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke will become the next chief justice of the state’s highest court.
Burke, the wife of indicted 14th Ward Ald. Ed Burke, has served on the court since 2006 and was selected by the other justices to serve as the leading justice. The position rotates among the justices based on seniority and Burke will begin her three-year term as chief justice on Oct. 26.
In a statement, Justice Burke said she’s “humbled and honored that my colleagues have chosen me to be the next Chief Justice.”
And if anyone here read Robert Cooley's book, "When Corruption Was King" you know that Ed and Anne were wired into some pretty hinky shit....hinky as in Outfit business along with the more recent fundraising complaints, frequent recusals of both Burkes from conflicts of interest situations and Ed's ongoing legal issues.

Anne Burke kinked a case in front of Judge Cieslik during Operation Greylord. I know it because I was there and witnessed it. Only her husband kept her from being indicted.She should be in prison right now. Only in Chicago!

What's stunning isn't that she accepted the post - the hubris of the Burkes has been known for decades. It's that the other Justices selected her. It is their hubris that truly offends.
Caesar divorced his wife because she engaged in improprieties, stating "Caesar's wife must be above reproach." The Illinois Supreme Court justices have appointed a Caesar who's spouse's corruption is documented on hours of audiotape that will soon be presented at trial.
They have put themselves and their fealty above the honor of their offices. Shame on each of them for selecting her. Shame on Anne Burke for accepting it.

This is Chicago, Cook County, a state of its own, within the State of Illinois, a state that put a a guy from Cook County, who was overheard on the wire asking if he could purchase some political power, from a convicted felon, former governor of Illinois. You know the guy who said that Jesse White was the least embarrassing of the African Americans. Coincidentally this is the same guy who was caught red handed, deliberately and knowingly cheating the State of Illinois out of its tax dollars, a crime that is punishable with a prison term, if convicted. Oh did I forget to mention that this is also the same guy that Illinoisans put in the governors mansion?
So now you really think they are going to come in and drain this swamp? You are only fooling yourself! The feds do a few cases here and there, just to keep the appearance of being real crime stoppers. Trump has been President for 2 1/2 years, with nothing of significance done. They know that Illinois is a lost cause. In law enforcement the feds do what the Chicago Police Dept. tells them or allows them to do. That goes for the State of Illinois as well. In the Springfield office for the Clerk of the Supreme Court, there are a collection of files behind the counter with "MR" designations. Within those files are orders granting or denying requests for waivers of Supreme Court Rule 703(b).
All States require persons who are seeking to be admitted to the bar to have a legal education. Some States have law schools which are State accredited but not ABA accredited. Under a plain reading of Rule 703(b), admission to the Illinois bar is limited to those who "... pursued a course of law studies and fulfilled the requirements for and received a first degree in law from a law school approved by the American Bar Association. ..."
Waivers of the Rule can be summarily denied or summarily granted. No explanation is required.
What's the difference? Check out whether those who received waivers made campaign contributions.

Yes it was and the two cases mirrored each other and were almost identical. I wondered how they would get around denying CPD retirees there retiree healthcare after ruling in favor of the state employees. Hard to contradict a ruling made a few years earlier

What was her crowning moment in convicting Democrats of Enormous corruption? Zero, nothing, I see nothing, who done it?
