Ted Cruz, ripping him and “coward Republicans” for not passing new gun laws in response to nationwide violence and telling the Texas Republican to “keep our name out of your mouth” after he criticized Chicago’s firearm laws.
Late Monday, the mayor responded to a Cruz tweet that said, “Gun control doesn’t work. Look at Chicago. Disarming law-abiding citizens isn’t the answer. Stopping violent criminals — prosecuting & getting them off the street — BEFORE they commit more violent crimes is the most effective way to reduce murder rates. Let’s protect our citizens.”
If Crimesha would keep shooters in Dart's jail, armed violence would drop by about 25% overnight. If she'd support an Operation Exile type of sentencing, crime would drop by 40% almost instantly, as evidenced in Richmond, Virginia and a few other democrat run shitholes. You want the State to raise children, then the State is going to have to be the "mean Dad" in some cases, and that means putting bad children in prison for armed crimes against persons.
But Groot is spouting the party line, that guns are bad, that "common sense" reforms (none of which she will put to paper and debate the merits of) and banning of scary looking weapons will lead to some sort of democrat run Utopia and tax money will blossom into pension, road and TIF funding.

I don't care what Robert Francis says about guns out here in Odessa, much less some ineffectual mayor of an incredibly murder-y city as Chicago. Everyone out here knows that the police/sheriff can't be everywhere at once and it's a large area. Recently, I signed out of the Midtown North Precinct for the final time, concluding a 25-year career with the New York City Police Department. Appropriately enough, my last day on the job was the day after Police Commissioner James O’Neill unceremoniously fired police officer Daniel Pantaleo following a years-long investigation stemming from Eric Garner’s death.
That political hit job, covered with City Hall’s fingerprints, was a stark reminder of how much the NYPD has changed and why it was no longer worth it for me to wear Blue each day.
Like many in the NYPD, I’m a New Yorker, so I personally have witnessed how the city evolved from chaotic, drug-filled and crime-ridden to safe, prosperous and livable in the 1990s and 2000s under Mayors Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg.
In the last six years, however, Mayor Bill de Blasio has overseen an unprecedented regression in the quality of law enforcement and in life in general in New York. The NYPD brass, particularly under Commissioner James O’Neill, has been complicit in this breach of public trust and made it nearly impossible for the best officers to do their jobs well and uphold their oath to protect the public.
Make no mistake about it: New York City is no longer a safe city.
Under the cover provided by the commissioner, the mayor regularly touts statistics indicating that crime is at an all-time low. Do not believe those statistics for one second.

Many career criminals routinely file grievances with the Civilian Complaint Review Board — which is totally politicized and hostile to police officers — for any interaction, often making patently absurd allegations of racism. And even the NYPD itself has become petty and retaliatory against officers who make too many waves and do not go along with prevailing bureaucratic politics.
And district attorney’s offices across the city have also been compromised, so that when police officers do go through the trouble of making arrests prosecutors often refuse to bring charges unless the crimes are politically unpopular or the perpetrators fit a preconceived identity narrative.
Finally, radical judges in New York City courts routinely refuse to uphold the law and allow dangerous criminals, including habitual drug dealers, to walk free.
Mayor de Blasio has taken a job that stood for service, excellence and maintaining law and order and helped reduce it to a politicized chaperoning service. Meanwhile, Commissioner O’Neill, who fashioned himself as a cop’s cop, has forever lost the respect and confidence of officers who rightly see his firing of Daniel Pantaleo as a cowardly bow to political correctness.
This is what the NYPD has become, and New Yorkers should not be complacent. The New York of 10 years ago that we perhaps took for granted is gone. And as long as the good guys in Blue are shackled from doing their jobs, it won’t be coming back.

That is a tough one. Is it just you? What about a spouse? Does he/she have their own retirement benefits? Children at home? How is your health? Your spouse's health? The children's health? House paid off? Do you have a side-hustle that is big money? With healthcare? Or, is it more of a hobby job? Do you owe a lot of money or none or somewhere in-between? Do you have a healthy investment portfolio? Are you in deferred compensation? Maxed out? Can you financially do without the last 2.5%? Are you willing to roll the dice? Or do you have a nagging, itching, burning, non-negotiable desire to go now? Only you know the answers.
Next, you add it all up and massage it and chew on it until you are better equipped to answer your questions of go now with the 2% healthcare or roll the dice and go later with or without the 2% healthcare. The two things of which you have no way of knowing in the here and now are 1) the future cost of healthcare and 2) how long will you live? Who knows? I would guess healthcare cost is going to steadily rise, but your plan about living to 100 and the big guy's plan might not match. Why not hang in there and wait and see what’s included in the new contract and then decide it’s at least a year away, but if it were agreed upon next week, the membership has to vote on it and the city council has to ratify it. During that time you can retire and all the benefits from the old contract apply until the new one is signed
So, if the guns that lead to Chicago’s high murder rate are coming in from “red states” - presumably Indiana, Kentucky, possibly Missouri (but NOT Wisconsin or Iowa), then why don’t those states’ largest cities have the same problem? After all, if THAT’S where the guns are coming from, there must be LOTS more guns per capita in those cities.

Completely nuts. Keep in mind plenty of people have left this miserable job with no health care,just a pension with more seniority than you because the job sucks. Unless you are hiding at 35th st tickling yourself and some boss everyday at work is an opportunity to get killed or ruin your life.

He’s in a good position to stay if he wants. With 28 years he can bid for days in any unit and an inside job. That should keep him from getting killed
Why not hang in there and wait and see what’s included in the new contract and then decide it’s at least a year away, but if it were agreed upon next week, the membership has to vote on it and the city council has to ratify it. During that time you can retire and all the benefits from the old contract apply until the new one is signed

There is no way this contract settles in the next 18 months, lightfoot has to make an example of us and our C.B.A to attempt to gut certain protections covered in the agreement. For the mayor it is only smart to grind this process to a halt to sweat people on the money aspect in a attempt to make people cave, and be willing to accept certain changes to our agreement for the money. It wouldn't shock me if it went 2 more years till settling.
