- Forty-five minutes into the month of September, Chicago police released month-end crime statistics for August, touting “the lowest number of August murders and shootings since 2011.”
An hour and a half later, a 15-year-old who should’ve started high school Tuesday was shot dead outside his home.
By 6 a.m. Sunday, four people had been killed and five more had been shot, according to police and Tribune data. At least two other people had been shot by Sunday afternoon, bringing the total number of people shot Labor Day weekend in Chicago to at least 25, seven of them fatally.
How about just holding a year-end recap of the year and brag about the numbers then? It'll be cold enough to put a stop to the karmic feedback that seems to accompany a lot of these pressers.

If my math and interpretation are correct, the 15-year-old who would have started high school was killed around 2:15am. When I was 15 I had curfew. I don’t think even my parents would have been out “hanging around” at 2am.
It's safe to say that the 15 year wouldn't have gone school anyways.
In a highly computerized world, you can get updates on near every metric at mere 15 minute intervals or less. That does not mean anyone should avoid the main metrics which count: Quarterly stats and yearly stats. Stick to those when it comes to crime figures and you see the honest picture.
I swear some big data junkie is going to start to present the shootings in Chicago on an hour again hour basis. See! From 9 AM on April 2 2014 two were shot but at 9 AM on April 2 2018 no one was shot! Those April 2 2018 shootings only happened at 11 AM but looking back at 11 AM on April 2 2014 only 1 person was shot! PROGRESS! The hourly decrease at 9 AM is shown!
People can be info junkies as much as any other addiction. Facts matter and data trends count but don't seek real time updates on every fucking stat or you will go mad and also make silly conclusions.

After reading an account of the shooting yesterday morning, I wondered who makes up the invitation list for these parties where people gather, socialize, take recreational substances and wait, and then around 2:30 pull out their guns and start shooting each other. Oh yeah, another instance resulting from "white privilege".
15 year old about to start High School, out at 2:00am, its extremely sad but not unpredictable, what are they gonna say next, that he loved his kids. But remember, it's the fault of the poleece.

That's their mistake. The higher you go doesn't mean
the brighter you are. This ain't the stock market. We don't
really need these numbers. Never needed them in the 60s
and 70s. More information is not better. It's for internal use.
They are so crooked they throw around these human butchery
numbers, but the management matrix (and compensation) is
strictly opaque. These are not good people. They have no
real business or management experience. They actually
disgrace the department with every public appearance.

You're right about the year end stuff. Back when people had
more common sense and money was scarce, you didn't have
the employees to compile and release this dog and pony show
monthly production. Numbers are after-the-fact. They serve
nobody but the self-servers who are in positions they created
for themselves or positions that were created for them. That,
you don't know about. But numbers? Numbers are cheap.
And don't tell me it "costs" nothing and they are reading from a
computer print out. This is a self-serving, calculating, "justify my
job" machine." The mere fact that manpower is devoted to this
is in itself an atrocity.

OK mainly because I'm lazy [retired don't do anything anymore!] but do you compare yearly holidays to one another? Not just the months. How the Labor Day compares to years past.

Doesn’t work that way. He has done favors or promoted many so even if he leaves they will be there to promote the kid. That’s the way it works

2011 tallied 431 overall Murders.
As of today we’re at 348, that’s an average of 43 per month, which will have Sanctuary City tally another +500 overall Murders in 2019.

Go get your fuck'n activity for VRI. Back in the old days we didn't have VRI. When we saw curfew kids, we drove the curfew kids home, and if we saw kids late for school walking to school, we drove them to school. When we saw gang bangers on the corner, we told them once, find a home,and they all scrammed. We didn't fuck around. Now that was officer friendly!
All this means is there will be one less application to each of the 8 Ivy League universities a few years from now. The good news is other CPS honor students will have one less rival blocking their acceptance.
