Someone e-mailed us:
- Units all across the city were all ordered to rush down to McCormick place today to pick up credential s that they never needed, because they never attended the conference, the question is why?
And here's the answer:
- Was just told that the attendance was 800 persons. shot for setting an attendance record so the push to get people to register is for bragging rights by the mayors office
This also explains the last minute push to have all sorts of units register to attend the IACP Conference - even though the officers were unable to attend due to.....their days off all being canceled.

Yeah, our unit was assigned down near McCormick, but not actually inside the conference.
We were still told we “had to pick up” our credentials which stated “host department.”
And then anyone who hadn’t picked them up yet was instructed they had to go down there and pick them up.
I thought it was strange since we were no longer down there- why would we need to get the credentials? I smelled some BS, but it all makes sense now.
That explains all of the officers picking up those credentials less than 15 minutes before the closing of the exhibit hall

Cost is a none issue. They will count the entire conference as “training hours”. It is a win - win for them. Conference attendance high and at the end of the year training hours are improved. This will also further the push on the consent decree training issue. Unfuckingbelievable how ignorant they think we are.
Some connected firm is probably getting paid by how many in attendance.

LAPD sent mostly rank and file coppers who all looked sharp. Seemed that CPD sent a lot of high ranking supervisors who didn't fit in their dress uniforms too well. Every member of the department was pre-registered for the conference. The low numbers are based om the number of people that actually went and picked up their "credentials" (a lanyard with a name tag on it). I'm in one of those units that was ordered to go on Wednesday at the last minute. Went, checked in and then immediately left. I really do appreciate that a ton of police related vendors and supporters were there, but this whole event was destroyed by politics and I wanted absolutely ZERO to do with it. Thanks fathead.

If you were in DC this year then you should have known that among the CPD Officers that were honored, one of them was a Commander, therefore, there were many supervisors there. Maybe LA "sends" officers to the Memorial but Chicago does not. Everyone that was there goes on their own and pays on their own, they don't need to be sent. I am sure there are a few that get their expenses paid somehow but we go because we want to not because we are sent. And I don't care if they didnt fit into their uniform at least they went and honored those officers that were taken from us.

Thanks for your input. But CPD is just another job. Zero pride in this line of work and zero care. No matter how much more the uniform can be disgraced or our image tarnished. In the rank and file, we just don’t care anymore.

Why couldn't the clouted command staff figure this out themselves? Time for new leadership? that is the real Hahahaha! But more seriously, part of the problem is the "code of silence" and it is the community not the police. Also the SJW with their catch and release of the offenders in the community do not lead to more cooperation, just more fear of retaliation. Until those parts change, none of the recommendations will not matter.

If this is true and this particular sergeant can’t conduct investigations then what is her role and other than Ron then who else is protecting her. If she’s still operating as a sergeant approving OT, singing reports, or involved in investigations, this is a Rule violation. Anything that her name is tied too will be thrown out of court.
