Slow News Day
- Chicago police officers improperly used department-issued placards to park illegally with their personal vehicles in police station parking lots so they or their friends and relatives could attend Cubs and Bears games, an investigation by the city’s government watchdog found.
Officers also regularly parked their cars in a tow-away zone along a narrow street near City Hall, creating potential safety hazards by blocking fire lanes and emergency exits, Inspector General Joseph Ferguson’s office reported Tuesday.
Ferguson also chided Police Department leaders in the seven-page report for not reminding officers during roll calls about a February 2018 directive prohibiting such preferential parking.
Fergie doesn't name names, which make it obvious to the cynic in us exactly who is abusing the parking. Anyone paying attention could (and did) predict it back in 2018. Nothing changed and the connected stayed connected and Fergie has an opportunity to slap the Department around using the media to do Groot's dirty work.

This is front page news but when sheriff farts top aide illegally sets up a sting and stole tickets at the Cubs World Series the media buried it and he was quietly given a 10 day suspension. Cpd needs to hire more media relatives for favorable coverage.
So there's no more parking in the lot, jumping on the bus, going downtown to take in the views????

This is a result of former Alder-Asshole Arena dropping a dime to the IG.
He attempted to park in the 019 garage last year and was told to go pound sand.
So off duty coppers park at the first district and 19 for secure parking because we’re not allowed to bring our weapons into these stadiums and now we’re criminals. Whatever. The city’s broke because of years of stealing and mismanagement but were worried about someone sneaking a parking spot. These people are fricken out of their minds. Traffic court sucks..you would think they would have a street or two designated for emergency vehicle parking only, Im NOT going to pay 25-30 bucks for parking.

I pulled up in my personal car, and parked on the roof. I then exited my vehicle and took off my cubs jersey and went downstairs and went to work in the 019th district . Why is this newsworthy?!

Jeez 33 years on the street and I never received my placard. I must have been off on "free placard day" when they were handing them out. In fact none of the other poor street assholes ever got a placard either, come to think of it.

So the IG is in a tizzy because some coppers were holding parking spaces for other coppers. But no upset word about holding a spot for a Deputy or his friend.
Years ago on the desk, a boss called and asked if we could hold a parking space for someone going to the Cubs-Cardinal game. So he wouldn't have to pay $50 (maybe more) to park his $70,000 Maserati.
Was not so politely called a cheapskate and turned down.
And for these years I just thought he was another political hack. Heard Facebook was trying to recruit him to head up there security. Just kidding.

I have used the 1st district lot for years to park and then jump on a bus to head downtown for court. Now that I am retired I still do this. I see nothing wrong with this, using a department parking lot as I am a retired member of the department. But, I guess all of this is now a serious offense that the IG has to spend time under surveillance. What a waste of time and money.
Fergie sold his soul to city hall when he traded an honest report on the LIE-tenant's cheating in exchange for a new contract for himself. A pompous do as I say, not as I do, scumbag. A true piece of shit.
It is not a defense to a crime that someone else did something worse, or no traffic citations could ever be given out.Those who chose to grant themselves this special privilege will get a slap on the wrist but nothing will really change.

No one is out in the 1st district lot...that's a hoot! Parking sucks most days and that doesn't even touch days where there is a special event, festival, game ,concert, window detail, etc. Some days it's hard to squeeze between the asiles there are so many cars...between the 2 buildings and those working special there is NO room!!!

You're supposed to take public transportation to traffic court. Also, when the CTS is running late or your train/bus breaks down, you're supposed to happily accept your SPAR for signing in at 0900 instead of 0845.
Could we set up an anonymous fund, with an anonymous figurehead to either take out a full page in a local newspaper, maybe a billboard, something HUGE that can tell the public the rank & file cops version of what really goes on in the city? From our perspective? Maybe name names of clout hacks, test cheaters? Something big that will catch the eye of the most casual reader/driver. Couldn't cost That much to get OUR truth out there.

Anyone writing movers that require you to attend traffic court just stop (like you need to be told again) Why should you pay for parking and not get any little perks like being able to park a squad in an out-of-the-way spot. We are generating REVENUE for the city and they're nitpicking on parking?? STOP the revenue!! When I've occasionally been questioned over parking in questionable or illegal spots, I've simply told people "I park here because you can't...I'm simply saving LEGAL, closer spots for fine citizens like yourself" Admittedly it only works in areas with street parking, but most people never look at it the way I explain it. They usually shut up with the new perspective. Also... why would anyone Voluntarily go to downtown chicago for entertainment??? The overpriced EVERYTHING...Parking, food, taxes on everything. Sporting events? You're crazy! Be another body in a sea of cattle. Can't defend yourself because they don't allow (even police) to carry?? Traffic up the ass? No Thanks! Me & mine first chance I get, RDO's furlos etc head the Hell out of city limits. Wisconsin only an hour away, 5% taxes on goods, plenty of better recreational opportunities and best of all...No people the likes of the kind of people that would WANT to go into Chicago. It’s not a clout thing. Or at least not entirely. I’m a cloutless blue shirt, I did it at 019 to walk to the game. It’s first come first serve all you have to do is call and get your name on the list. I called, they put me on. I drove up, talked to the marked car guarding to entrance and that was it. No payment no owing anyone anything, just call and ask. Easy. Big time corruption uncovered by joe, huh? Enjoy your retirement, drain this city for everything you can. I hope you live to be 100 just out of spite to the city.
