I hate to talk smack against our union because I do think that they are trying, but wholly shit, they are just getting run over by the city. In the past few years our working conditions have become absolute shit. The city wins ever single thing they propose. The city just basically does anything it wants at this point. Our union guys I think mean well, but they need to realize that they are just in way over their head. Maybe it’s time to hire some outside person or something. We should not be constantly getting pummeled like this. I’m telling you, I’ve never felt this depressed and this dissatisfied about the job since I’ve started. Everyone is saying the same thing too. The young and the old. they just hate this job and can’t wait to get off. Everyone’s trying to figure out anyway to retire early or get another job to leave this shitty profession. Even middle management hates this job now. When you have an entire department that pretty much hates coming to work, how is this good? I hate coming to work every day. I dread it. Wish I had a way out. Wish we had a strong union and guys and girls stood together and said enough is enough. If the union was strong they could organize ways to make sure the city saw our point of view and made sure the city didn’t fuck with us. Instead, we are just their lap dog and it really sucks.
The commanders we have today across the city just constantly push numbers so that Lemmer doesn’t scold them at compstat and it’s making for an entire city of miserable coppers. They’re trying to squeeze every last blue card of these guys to try to move up the ladder. It makes me sick. The whole upper echelon just sits there and lets Lemmer destroy this department instead of standing up and saying this is bullshit. The coppers today are working in the absolute worst conditions in history and they’re expected to be perfect, not make a single mistake and constantly bring in activity that could get them fired or sued. What the fuck has happened to this job. What’s happened to the upper management that would fight for what’s right. I feel like they are all a bunch of cowards that instead of looking out for the collective good of the department, they are all in for themselves. Afraid to lose their “spot” or gold stars. We have nobody up there championing for the blue shirts. Nobody!! Remember that.
Once the swiping started I realized just how much this city looks at us like we are nothing more than hourly workers, a simple number that can be replaced at any time. It used to feel like I had a profession, but now I feel the same way about this job as I felt when I worked at my other jobs growing up. Just come, clock in, physically be here for a certain amount of time, give minimal effort, go home. I used to work my butt off for this city and the neighborhoods I worked in, but I get it now. I don’t mean shit to them. So now the city doesn’t mean shit to me. Makes me sad to realize this.
Anthony Escamerit is such a hand job. Still hangs out by the gang and tac office trying to be one of the boys, yucking it up. Just the other day on afternoons, he was playing police and got flagged down by a concerned citizen about a possible person with a gun. When he got on the air looking for an assist all you heard was crickets. He kept getting on the air pissed. After awhile I thought he was going to vaperlock. Finally a tac car went on the air and showed up. Just goes to show you Anthony no one wants to be around you. The cops that showed up at your precious 025th District golf outing are pussies like you.
I have always been a big critic of government and our FOP when they’re wrong, but I think we all need to give a big thanks to FOP President Kevin Graham for calling it like it really is for the public to read, and for going to bat for us yesterday with the leadership. If Dean Angelo were President what do you think he would have done? Nothing! Graham has fought harder for us than anyone in recent memory. He’s fed up too! Also have to give credit fo SCC! Keep up the great work Kevin! It’s stuff like this that will get you re-elected.
It’s a shame that FOP had to issue a public statement laying out the truth about the way police officers are treated to get them to rescind the selfish order. It wasn’t an unreasonable order and it does make sense, but to drop it on us last minute was wrong. It simply should have been implemented in January. What they did, sent a terrible message to the troops. But thanks FOP for getting things done!

There is allot of talk about the 6&2. Maybe it's time to think about trying to contractually get off of salary and go to hourly. If the city wants to use a 6&2 as a bargaining chip for our next contact then Fuck em. Go to an hourly wage. That should kill that idea. And if not atleast we get paid for the hours. Swiping? Who gives a Fuck. I never worked a civilian job where I didn't have to punch a clock, and I push a beat car like so many of us do. I'm not getting early ducks any ways. Swiping is fine as long as it is for all. Hourly wage tied to a time clock fixes that problem. Consent decree, same partners, same day off group, isn't going to work out well as the schedule stands now. The city is going to Fuck us trying to get it to work. The real solution is not 6&2. It's dropping a watch. 2 watches at twelve hours. Four on four off. LA did it along with many other cities. Longer days, yet the time off combats the effects of hyper vigilance and leads to a healthier life. We need to start thinking of the long run. Fuck the retro, give us zero percent for the past, and a raise for the future provided healthcare for the future is locked in and a healthy work schedule can be founded. A few thousand means nothing now if I'm spending much more when I retire just to pay for healthcare.

I have a wonderful idea that will not only help out the CPD with community relations, but also raise a lot of money for charity. A boxing match should be held similar to Battle of the Badges. In one corner a chicago patrolman, in the other, Anthony Escamerit. 3 rounds of boxing with head gear optional. All proceeds will be split between the fighters for them to each donate to the charitable organization of their choosing. Just as long as Anthony isn't allowed to donate his to LAPA. While that particular police organization has been more then charitable with getting Tony his promotions, it still doesn't count as a non-profit organization.
To keep things fair, an officer will be selected that's between the ages of 40 and 50. I know more then a few grizzled old timers that would relish the opportunity to step into the squared circle with Anthony. What say you Escamerit? Ok people it's time to buck up! The department is trying to break each and every one of us but what is it really doing? Swipe in and out? That'll backfire on them eventually PLUS we all know that there is nothing we can do but complain about it.
The changing of start times has already been "put on hold" because our union smacked them on the hand for it. Everything else remains the same. WE are in charge of how much activity is brought in! WE are the ones who make the street stops or not! WE are the ones who decide if we're going to only respond to our radio calls as we ALL SHOULD BE DOING! The city hired us for a job and we should stick to the letter as far as working. Wear your seat belts,taser, microphone and hat when necessary. We know the stupid "pimpy" things that they will try to use against us! Don't let them hang us for things we can control. Become an absolute robot so that they have zero reason to bother us. EVERYTHING ELSE THE BOSS WANTS MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING!!! Our contract does not require us to stop anyone for anything unless we SEE it happen. Use that. They can't make us see crimes and they can't interpret what we saw. Let the department see how powerful we are and stop complaining! In time they will understand who truly has the power here, US! It’s truly sad Eddie Johnson is so far detached from the officers on patrol, the officers that are the front line and backbone of the department, to really care about their sanity, their well-being, and their overall safety and morale, to realize what having a horrible commander does to a district. Commanders like Escamilla, King-Smith, Pigott, , Hanna, and Kulbida, to name a few, create horribly tense, demeaning, and demoralizing working environments. They are so full of themselves, lack true leadership skills, and manage to get promoted because of the continuous brown-nosing or who they know. Commanders like these aren’t promoted because of how wise they are, or how they have led their officers. Escamilla, Pigott, Carol-King, and Kulbida amount to nothing more than a bully. And Hanna has managed to get promoted based on her award winning gift of gab and bullshitting, nothing more. Outside of the department, she would be head greeter at Walmart. But Johnson has forgotten where he came from, and at this point is just trying to save his job. And the only ones that suffer at the hands of these atrocious commanders, are the very same officers that make him look good day after day, watch after watch.

But Johnson has forgotten where he came from, and at this point is just trying to save his job. And the only ones that suffer at the hands of these atrocious commanders, are the very same officers that make him look good day after day, watch after watch.

It’s truly sad Eddie Johnson is so far detached from the officers on patrol, the officers that are the front line and backbone of the department, to really care about their sanity, their well-being, and their overall safety and morale, to realize what having a horrible commander does to a district. Commanders like Escamilla, King-Smith, Pigott, , Hanna, and Kulbida, to name a few, create horribly tense, demeaning, and demoralizing working environments. They are so full of themselves, lack true leadership skills, and manage to get promoted because of the continuous brown-nosing or who they know. Commanders like these aren’t promoted because of how wise they are, or how they have led their officers. Escamilla, Pigott, Carol-King, and Kulbida amount to nothing more than a bully.
