Nice Job Officers

Last last month, an incident that could have gone south in a hurry:
  • A group of Chicago police officers and a sergeant from the Near West District were honored Tuesday by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation for helping stop a robbery and free three hostages being held at gunpoint at a dollar store on Chicago’s West Side last month.

The robbery and standoff began about 8 p.m. Dec. 29 at a Dollar Tree, 3146 W. Madison St., near Kedzie Avenue.
If we didn't say it back in December, good job all around.

Some malcontent from 012 has been critical of that Sgt on here recently. Sounds like a pretty good boss to me.

Great work officers. Interesting SWAT wasn’t called.

Of course it is our own Memorial Foundation honoring the Officers instead of our own City Council, Mayor's Office, or any "Community Organizations" .I

That being said, Nice job!

And they did it all without the ride along PSYCH
crew. Makes ya wonder, huh?
One of these days The Shrink is gonna go in close
for a heart-to-heart and get captured as a hostage.
What's the protocol flow sheet? More Shrinks or more SWAT?

Lightfoot stopped the practice of recognizing officers at city council meetings. She really does hate the police.

Great job, but Kedzie and Madison isn't 012, and never will be. It's 013. And they can keep it.

Why do idiots rob dollar stores?
Let's say you pull it off and get the till. What, there might be $200 there?
I guess if they were smart they wouldn't be criminals.

Just because Sgt. L was on scene doesn’t make him a great boss. Duh. You must be his BFF

Sometimes an incident is resolved at the district level so fast that SWAT is not notified. Most District Sergeants dont know that they can call a job or are too scared to call it a SWAT JOB. Great work officers.

Just wondering, why wasn’t SWAT called? That Sgt and those officers took a big gamble. Luck played a major role but it could have easily ended up going bad. The SWAT trains specifically trains for Hostage Rescue scenarios. That’s like you needing K9 to sniff for narcotics or to seize money but instead you decide to sniff for the drugs. Stop sniffing for the drugs, and utilize the proper tool for the job. Glory doesn’t always come with risking other people’s life. Let the professionals who train for this, handle it.

Why doesn't the FOP lobby against tinted windows on vehicles ?This is not only dangerous for cops but all citizens as you can't make eye contact for safety.

Great job by the officers and the sergeant J.L.. I worked with the sergeant in 003 and area south and he has always been a hard worker. Glad the officers and the sergeant got the recognition they deserve, especially in today’s environment where officers are always criticized for doing the wrong thing.

It sounds like you ate sour-pancakes for breakfast. I worked for this Sgt when I was in 012 and he’s far from a micromanager. Unless you are one of those lazy, do-nothing goofs on the watch who always made other officers work harder because you would dog jobs. I’m glad I left 012 because those sergeants didn’t have an easy job. I did not envy them. And for your info, he wasn’t merit. Something tells me you are a disgruntled officer who is not smart enough to have ever been promoted. The sergeant involved and the officers did a great job. Go make some wine with your sour grapes.

You sound like one of those arrogant SWAT “operators” . Let’s be serious here, with the way SWAT operates these days under that “know it all sergeant and LT”, why would anyone want to call them to begin with. Plus 9 out of 10 times they wait around for 5-6 hours and let the negotiator do all the work.

Old 012 Guy you’re behind on your reading. 012 and 013 merged several years ago.

"...Let the SWAT professionals who train for this handle it..." .

Lady yells out from window: I am ok. Y'all can leave now.
SWAT Supervisor: She is ok guys. Pack it up.

That professional?
