Watch Out for THC

A timely warning from the FOP:
  • With the recent legalization of Cannabis, many members may run the risk of being exposed to small to extreme amounts of THC through inhalation of second hand smoke or through contact with THC infused products.

Any member who believes he/she has been exposed to any contact with THC should protect themselves by completing an exposure report as you may be subject to a random drug test. Please contact the Lodge immediately if you are denied the opportunity to complete an exposure report.
Be sure to have the date, time of exposure along with the date, time and name of the supervisor who denied you the report.

You don’t test positive in a random drug through a contact high. Fight a fight that matters FOP. There’s much bigger issues.

Not a cop

Was driving westbound on I-90 on Thursday night and was having to inhale blasts of THC smoke from the cars in the left and middle lanes driving slower and the far-right lane was the only one really doing the a little above the speed limit. No Illinois State Police anywhere to be found but learned they were all over I-294 doing an enforcement action up and down the highway.

I moved out to the sticks to avoid getting high driving in Chicago, and now its statewide, I can't get out of this state fast enough!

Yea right, get that report in right after you enjoy your next blunt. Rinse and repeat often. Surge don't know why I have all those exposure reports in must be something to do with my wife and older children.

Why doesn’t FOP simply file suit to stop random drug from testing for Cannabis after all it’s legal right? Will it take a lawsuit when the first person is fired for a legal substance?

Do not take CBD oil either! They say it has no THC in it but in some cases there is enough present to show up in drug test. Several ATF agents nation wide have already been fired.

Most CBD products contain THC. CBD contains 0.3% THC. Our tests here will say positive or negative, not 0.3%, not any percentage. 0.3% will test positive. The tests for a topical CBD product will result in negative and positive test results for THC. Remember the grandmothers at the Disney park a few months ago ? They had CBD products that tested positive for THC. My guess Kim Foxx isn't gonna give any of us a Ibond when Groot hears that we had some arthritis ointment in our locker at work.

In other news, we are still stuck living in this shithole. Our pension is not being funded. Our benefits, health insurance, and protections diminish with every new Contract. And the City violates the Contract almost daily.

Nice priorities, FOP.

A baseless statement. The crap you currently see or at various quickie marts is garbage and the CBD is derived from Hemp, low in percentage and of unkown quality. You need to find a reputable dispensary like in Colorado and get real quality product. Illinois dispensaries are run by connected people and in for the profit and have "missed a few things" when it comes to the pot market.

I remember when the HIV, the anthrax and the hepatitis exposures were a thing. Cranky sergeants and watch commander threw a fit if you came in complaining about a little spittle from the piss bums they all wanted locked up.

Every House Party Call = Quality Down Time.
The district management is going to be pissed agin when they have to call in and assign a Sgt to handle all those exposure reports.
Could a new in-house Unit be forming?

Cover Your Ass still applies only nowadays it doesn’t mean much when your angry crank ill-mannered mayor and new age superintendent says otherwise.

Honestly, this weed thing is so stupid... Ok, yeah, let's just make it legal, because...why? Tax dollars. Good luck with that. So meanwhile, this isn't the first or second "oops" type development. You know what, I don't smoke weed, or do any other illegal drugs. But I hope this allows tons of cops who would like to smoke weed to indulge themselves and get a pass. It's not the smartest, safest thing, but hey, neither is the revolving door policy the state's attorney has established with the bad guys. But "the people have asked for it", so give the people what they want.

That’s been going on for years. Everyone who tests positive claims it’s from second hand smoke. The tests must show the levels and difference. Now that’s not illegal just say spouse smokes weed and I get second hand smoke

Yea I do that everyday to get high. When I really want to get wasted I go to the Bears or Bulls game. Lot of people around in a closed environment.
You don’t really believe you test positive for walking thru the park, do you?

All the exposure stuff is bs. If it were true all you should have been doing for the last 20 is make one marijuana arrest every few months and say it started when you smelled the odor of weed or saw the offender smoking weed and you were exposed. It’s in the report so you were exposed. Test positive and see how that works out for you

These goofs can't even do basic math. One site made
the statement that a 1,000mg dose of CBD may contain 0.3%
of THC, so that's 6mg. What? I don't see any "Sixes" in there!
1,000 x 0.003 = 3mg

So many sites, each one saying we're the best.
California, Colorado, Kentucky. There's a good chance
the Derby this year might have a pop-up booth.
Like it was said above, if you're ATF, a trucker, or a chronic
pain patient, it's hard to justify the risk of turning up positive.

Ok. Passing through the park may not get you positive. What about a family member smoking in the house consistently? There will be so many “what if’s?” that the city is better off just quietly removing thc from the screening profile. You can’t force someone to leave their spouse because they choose to smoke “legal” pot? You want to be a liberal, progressive state where anything goes? Then expect everyone to be able to do whatever the hell they want.

Fill one out EVERY SINGLE DAY. "As I exited the vehicle, an unknown individual walked by and exhaled smoke which had the odor of Marijuana into the general vicinity...."

"As I walked down the street, an unknown individual walked by and exhaled smoke which had the odor of Marijuana into the general vicinity...."

"As I entered the apartment building at... an unknown individual walked by and exhaled smoke which had the odor of Marijuana into the general vicinity...."

This crap is going to be everywhere. Protect yourself by filing timely reports! After a while there will be so many of them that it will be impossible to randomly drug test anyone, and that's a good thing.

I believe I was exposed last night around 11:00 PM while residing in my domestic domicile. Pink Floyd was playing at a high volume through my old 1970's big Advent stereo speakers and a large Wild Mike's frozen pizza was cooking in the oven.
