Shots Fired at Police

  • A police chase on the North Side stemmed from a shooting in Logan Square and ended in a crash in Ravenswood.

A 43-year-old man was shot by someone in a passing car about 8:35 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Armitage Avenue, Chicago police said. The suspects sped off and fired shots at police during a pursuit.

The chase ended in a crash in the 4400 block of North Western Avenue, police said. The totaled car could be seen outside the Albany Bank and Trust at the corner of Western and Montrose avenues Thursday evening.

The people inside the vehicle were taken into custody, and a handgun was recovered.
PEhaps more info as the day progresses, but as far as we can tell, no officers injured by crashes or gunfire. Be careful out there boys and girls.

Is this the same Greg Bella who has been inside Board Member for over 20 years? Also the same guy who does not want, and has not for the last 3 years, perform the duties for Field Rep? All that Greg wants to do is collect $$$ for recording meeting minutes. Greg is running for an inside spot but will not work inside and therefore force the Lodge to hire another person to do 90% of what the job entails.

Greg, thank you for all the work you have done but it’s time
To move on and enjoy your retirement

Please have your facts straight before making comments. For the last 5 plus years Bella has worked for a simple hourly rate to complete his duties as Recording Secretary. Election to that or any other office does not guarantee ANYONE a spot as a field rep working daily at the lodge. He willingly passed up that offer and that's how Bartlett got up there, when Kevin named him to fill the 6th vacancy. Then he immediately thanked Graham by betraying him and aligning himself with the current opposition this election. That caused nothing but in-fighting, back stabbing, closed doors and talking behind each others backs.
Kevin's promise to bring up the elected people along with Bartlett and keep them up their not only highlighted his ineffectiveness and awareness as a leader but their true colors as they plotted their overthrown from day 1. The members pay the price yet again for personal agendas. Oh and even add Aguilar in the mix who Kevin sold as an absolutely necessary SEVENTH field rep to help ensure we get the best possible contract. How did that work out??? 200 grand down the drain! Now he also is running against the guy who brought him up there. What loyalties these guys have.

Thank you for correcting that fact it’s been 5 years not 3 for which Greg has collected money for just doing meeting minutes and not additional field reps duties which then forces the President hire an additional person to work inside costing the Lodge more money.

You must agree that Greg was the one who introduced the motion to NOT INTERVENE in the consent decree cause you did not try to spin that one.

Did you also bring charges against Bella for misappropriation of Lodge funds? Did you decide to change your loyalties on that because he will bring in retiree votes for you? Talk about selling ones soul.

So who will be your choice to fill the in as Field Rep since Greg Bella will be collecting a check to do meeting minutes?

What is the "simple hourly rate" that Greg makes for the meeting minutes? I $30? $40? and hour?

How many hours does he get a week for the meeting minutes?

Hey Beck how about a news conference and blister the Community thugs shooting at your police officers. Let the citizens know you will not stand for these dangerous and reckless acts of violence. Blister Kim FOXX if she doesn't prosecute these criminals to the fullest measure of the law. Keep these thugs in jail until they go to trial. No Bond. Send the right message. Too many armed assaults trying to kill the police defending this shitty city. You are only here for a short period of time. You do not want to be attending an officer's funeral and consoling a spouse on the death of their mate. Not on your watch, right. What say you.

BTW: Bring the Groot with you unless she's too busy raising more taxes, pimping for more dope sales and coming up with free stuff for the Community.

What about your boy Malinowski. Bring out the carpetbagger and let him say a few words. He's plundered the city coffers with all his special service contracts with the city and the University of Chicago making hundreds of thousands of dollars. What has he done to earn that kind of money. We demand to know. It's our tax money.

Beck the former big time LA Police Chief now quiet as church mouse. Not seen or heard. His testicles are in Groot's Lock Box. Beck is Groot's personal neutered poodle.

This story is partially true. It was late 80’s and it was a gang banger named Spanky. Not sure which gang but NOT a Latin King and they had the wake at the King FH (Anderson maybe) located at North Ave and Spaulding. In the middle of the night Kings broke into the funeral home and shot up the body. Then they threw the body on the hood of a car and drove around the Beach/Spaulding area.

In the middle of the chase everyone please just shut up and go! In typical CPD fashion everyone needs to throw their two cents in. Let only two people talk. The car chasing and the dispatcher.. that’s it. Don’t say your on scene, don’t say your heading that way, don’t say your only a few blocks away when numerous cars are already with the primary unit. Then you have the guys who studies general orders once and have to come up with the bright idea in the middle of chaos to “call the helicopter” , notify ISP, notify 019 etc etc etc. STOP TALKING!!!! State already knows, 019 already knows, the entire dispatch center already knows and the back ups are yelling to all the other zones heads up this is going on. Stop trying to just get on the air in the middle of the big action so you can be heard too.. just stfu and go!!!! I’ve had the unfortunate pleasure of having this dispatcher over the years and he’s not good. Just everyone let the copper chasing talk. By the time the helicopter gets their this thing will be long over with. By the time you notify 019 and they react it will be 5 miles away, and by the time state arrives these guys will be in Wisconsin. Just let them chase and call, go that way, listen and DRIVE like hell to help!! That’s it. Mouth closed, eyes and ears open. That’s it.

Less than a mile away is "nowhere near" now? Gangbangers driving like assholes could get from the funeral home to her house in well under 2 minutes. Not exactly "nowhere near" her house. There have been a few shootings, including a homicide much closer to her house, but this one is still close enough that she should worry about her neighborhood. Beautiful section 8 housing just east of Kimball on Schubert. House full of gang members a block west of her house. House full of gangbangers on Diversey just about directly north of her house. Constant shots fired just northwest of Diversey and Kimball. I don't know about you, but none of that stuff happens within a mile of my house. If it did, I'd consider it to be too close for comfort. You must live near her if you're that offended that someone would point out the proximity of this shooting. Get your facts straight.

They probably showed restraint because they probably have 4 years or less on, and do not know the proper way to repay someone for putting an officer's life in danger. You can take issue with me all you want. But you can't tell me what or how to post. My post was made because there's literally no chance this was someone settling an old score from some IG bullshit back in the day. That suggestion would only be made by someone with no clue what's happening in that area now. They assume anything criminal occurring there must be tied to the criminals they remember, rather than the far more likely scenario that it's unrelated to decades old crimes. The comment seems insulting to retired law enforcement because you decided to be offended by it. Telling someone to enjoy their retirement is insulting? I don't need to prove that my scenario is more likely, just as I don't need to prove Al Capone isn't responsible for current murders in Chicago. If someone involved in this case would like to post some info about how this chase involved some middle-aged gangbangers settling an old score, I'll admit to being wrong. Until then, you and the person you've decided to defend are both stupid. You just happen to be stupid and overly sensitive. Prefacing an idiotic scenario with "maybe" doesn't make it any less idiotic. Watch. Maybe it was aliens. See how that's fucking stupid, despite the presence of the "maybe." Now enjoy your retirement.

The "proper way," as you put it, would result in officers being fired, shitheads getting a payday, and the whole case being fucked. I'd rather have it handled correctly by guys with less than 4 years on, than have it be fucked up by someone like you. The time of arrest is not time for revenge and punishment. Keep your emotions in check and keep your job, money, and freedom. That's hard to do after a chase, especially one where you or your fellow officers were shot at. The fact that these guys showed restraint, regardless of their time on the job, should be seen as a good thing, rather than a reason to judge them and say they didn't handle it the "proper way." By the way, it's been more than 10 years since this new "improper" way of treating arrestees started. Maybe you missed a memo or two. Smarten up or find a new job. You're a liability and you don't even realize it.
