Ambulance Crew Injured

  • A Chicago Fire Department paramedic was wounded in a hit-and-run after a car crashed into an ambulance Tuesday in Lawndale on the West Side.

The ambulance was southbound about 1:15 p.m. in the 700 block of South California Avenue when it was struck by a Toyota that was westbound on Flournoy Street, Chicago police said.

The Toyota drove off after the crash, police said.
"wounded"? That's a bit of hyperbolic exaggeration by the Sun Times. We mean, it's not like it was a cropped photo to conceal 11-and12-year-old flashing gang signs, but "wounded"? We don't think so.

At least it wasn't the 011th District hair-gels flipping the ambulance over this time.

The 700 block of S. California Ave. at Flournoy St. is in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, NOT (North) Lawndale.

Had to be a cataclysmic wreck if the Toyota left the scene under it's own power.....

I hope the crew gets well soon so they can get back to the pinch and tickle sessions at the firehouse.

That is precious to them.

Now, kees me you fool!!!!

“Wounded”???
Sounds like John Kerry putting himself in for the purple in Nam when the brown water patrol boat swerved and he bumped his shoulder on the bulwark (read requirements for receiving the medal).

I found the use of "wounded" odd also. That word has kind of a historical connotation, and it isn't from injuries received solely in vehicle crashes.

Well now they fled because they don't have car insurance but need to drive because they were probably reroute to thier job. Just like Lori says, these are people of black or brown color who can't afford insurance. Well how do they get license plates wiffout it. OH I FORGOT.

700 S California is in the middle of a war zone so the term wounded by escaping combatants is very appropriate. A Purple Heart should be in order. Anyone who doubts this is a war zone just have look at the numbers for this area last year on Heyjackass.

No videos of the crash. Thought all city emergency units had a dash cam.
