Nice Brand New Building
This is what's going on at O'Hare Airport's brand new police station:

Just after Lightfoot left for the “opening ceremony” this is what was put out to warm the building as best they can. The heat and air conditioning in this building has not been working properly since day one.
It is absolutely freezing in the entire building. There is even concern over the pipes freezing and the building flooding again.
How hard is it to build a functional facility? Isn't there a single investigative reporter who can point out the near-constant corruption that wastes taxpayer dollars at such an alarming rate.

How embarrassing! I hear that their radios don’t even transmit the distance of the entire airport. They are constantly having problems getting through to OEMC. They have brand new radios that have been sitting in the commanders office in boxes on the floor for over 4 months. And thoes officers are supposed to be the first line of defense if God for bid something happens at the airport?!

What a fucking joke!!! My heating and air guy told me this building is as simple as it gets for heat. He laughed and said Chicago does it wrong every time and pays triple to fix it, but they make money on Chicago. And people wonder why Chicago is so messed up?????
in the private sector the payments are made in stages with independant inspections and hold backs for at least a year for the final payment. they also have to secure bonding to cover the job. the banks, the insurer, the customer, the bonding agency and the suplliers all have deep mechanisms to cover their financial ass. this shit just does not happen when its your money. a contractor would be one and done never to resurface with this criminal shit. and unknown contractors ( some politicians brother in law ) would never be allowed to even bid on a big job. this is obviously criminal malfeasance and even in red china contractors like this go to prison or get executed. this is what can only happen under one party rule where the criminals control the financing, contractors, inspectors and end users. ive worked on billion dollar jobs and the punch lists ( last minute repairs and revisions ) are endless. aint nobody happy till the customer is happy. mistakes can happen everywhere but they have to be fixxed on the builders dime or they will be off to see a judge. i know people here like to rip on union trades but we dont design buildings or write the specs. a truck shows up, they unload the materials someone else ordered and install them according to blue prints someone else wrote. i do believe union trades are better because they do one thing for thirty years unlike billy bob and jethro who over a case of bud claim they can do anything. this is a criminal conspiricy between the politicians and the builders to skim money from contracts and defraud the taxpayers and the cpd and should be prosecuted by the feds. look around in your travels you will not see third world stuff like this tolerated anywhere in the private sector only in govt buildings in the rico infested city of chicago.

Just what is the Chicago Value of a paid off building inspector these days. Typical outcome of The Chicago Way in action. Payoff the inspectors to look the other way on city construction projects so there is major repairs necessary to fix "the problems" lack of inspections caused. Always billed at twice the going rate.

I had a carbon monoxide incident using one of those in my garage a while back. It's no joke. It warmed the garage quickly, but I hadn't properly ventilated. Suddenly sickness, and dizziness came upon me to the point where I had to run outside and vomit. No smell, no warning. Those things suck a lot of oxygen out of the air, and quickly fill an area with carbon monoxide. Open a window, and know where the nearest exit is. Please be careful out there.

Absolutely true! Most radios come in very scratchy or not at all near York Road. Calling OEMC on your cellphone is a regular daily occurrence. And some batteries don’t even last the entire tour. The Brass has known about this forever and has done absolutely nothing to fix the problem. They think “Making a phone call” is enough to cover their asses. The new radios were supposed to be in use when the building opened and here we are several months later and nothing.
Everyone in that buildings needs to go on medical with CO poisoning. Maybe the media will pick that up.
Demand that the air be monitored and the quality be within OSHA standards. Install some CO detectors in the areas of the heater and anytime they alarm call OEMC for a CFD response for CO.
In Wisconsin it's illegal to even have one of those tanks inside a building let alone using it as a heating source! What a shit show!!!

I have 2 of these in my garage when its cold out and I need to do some maintenance on my car. Of course I have the window open and the overhead raised slightly. I cant understand how the Mayor would endanger Police Officers lives with this hazard. I certainly hope that the FOP sees this and takes appropriate action against the city. I sure hope that no officer should become Ill due to the CO poisoning and fall and get injured..
Call the FD over. They can test it and document it in their report the level of CO. If anyone feels the symptoms call right away and get to fresh air.

What Lightfoot hasn’t learned yet is anyone doing business with the city scams and undercuts. They short pour concrete, use cheap materials and bill for premium stuff they didn’t do. I am in patrol, and those buildings suck too. I don’t think the point of the post was about how rough they have it, I think the point of the post was to shed light on how the city can’t do anything right. Every new building they construct is built like shit and has major problems almost immediately. But I’m sure you’re the guy who has these handful of stupid responses to every post no matter the topic of the post. About how only us in patrol have the right to complain and only we have it rough. I’m in patrol, and my district is falling the fuck apart. Can I complain? Or is that only reserved for you?
Not only do the propane heaters produce CO, Carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless toxic by-product of hydrocarbon combustion, but so is water. Especially when propane is burned.
So what happens when all that water starts condensing on various surfaces. Like computer systems. Or electric switches and breakers?
