Well, if this really happened, then on behalf of all working police officers, we say THANK YOU Mr. Beck! And you are exactly right. We are not factory workers. Swiping didn’t change a damm thing regarding the way we work. But what it did do is lower morale and make us feel insignificant. The other problem is many didn’t swipe at all but it was selectively enforced for the cops that have the hardest job. The beat cop going to the 911 calls every day. Swiping has no impact on crime. What a waste of time and paper to be tracking this worthless stat. Typical.

If you want any sort of morale back then get off of swiping. We are all here anyways but it brings about an extreme sense of micromanaging and another layer of botching at from the watch Ltd and above which kills morale even more. We come to work, we are at work and we work. Just let us come to work and work and stop restricting us with so much garbage, we’ve got enough to do and enough to worry about. Even though we are at work anyways swiping almost makes it feel as if we are in jail, constantly monitored and constantly under a microscope. You know I can't even remember the last 2. Who was before Johnson? This shows how little I even care. I do remember Weiss as being pretty good in retrospect. He gave us the 4-2 and a bunch of weapons to choose from. He got a lot of shit for wearing the uniform but the reason he wore it is because Donahue from the FOP advised his that it was ok. Been wondering what is going on with Wodnicki. He's a complete embarrassment and any one of us non merit people would have been stripped pending an investigation. He committed misdemeanor traffic offenses in another state ON duty and lied about it as well as acted like an arrogant idiot to Indiana troopers. Today, rumors that were thought too unbelievable to be true came to life. Our own union, the FOP, put forth a proposal TO VIOLATE OUR OWN CONTRACT. This proposal being made BY THE FOP does not have an effect on every member of the department at this time, but will certainly set a precedent that can have an effect on all members in the future. The proposal today involved staffing the Detective Areas after Area 4 and Area 5 open. In their own presentation, they stated THEIR OWN PROPOSAL IS A VIOLATION OF THE CONTRACT, a contract whose purpose is to provide and protect the rights of its members. In summary, the presentation included 3 rounds of bids. The first round would give those who want to go to the new Area 4 and Area 5 a chance to bid based on seniority and also 20% allotted for management. Second Round, EVERYBODY ELSE, would have to bid to a unit, again with 20% allotted for management. This includes, for example, if you are currently assigned to Area 2 and would like to stay there. In this case, a person currently assigned to Area 2 bids to Area 2 and will only remain if they make it by seniority or management. Round 3 would backfill the vacancies created in the areas using reverse seniority to remove units of assignments, another violation of the Contract. This completely undermines the bidding process. Detectives who have successfully bid to their unit of choice using SENIORITY as provided in the Contract, are being told that those bids will no longer be valid. All detectives’ units of assignment and watch selections will be erased, except the few detectives who have bid in the 1 year prior. Those detectives that bid in the 1-year prior will be allowed to keep their assignments, which seems to violate their own “proposal,” but at least those select few are being protected under one of the provisions of the contract the FOP is not VOLUNTARILY VIOLATING. FOP Reps admitted that since they are “voluntarily” agreeing to VIOLATE THE CONTACT, MEMBERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FILE A GRIEVANCE. FOP ADMITS THIS IS NOT THE PROCEDURE PROVIDED FOR IN OUR CONTRACT. FOP argues this is “EASIER” because it does not create a “VACUUM” which would be inconvenient for the City and allow members to file a grievance if they are re-assigned. To put this in perspective and to show what a dangerous precedent they are setting…imagine the 13th District re-opening. In accordance with “past-practices,” the city can successfully argue that EVERY DISTRICT would have to participate in this procedure FOP is calling a “SUPER-BID.” An even worse scenario is imagining what other provisions of the contract FOP can “voluntarily violate” to make situations “easier.” How can we support a union that KNOWINGLY and INTENTIONALLY violates the very Contract that is there to protect us? The FOP’s job is NOT to find what is “EASY.” Their job is to find what is in the “BEST INTEREST” for its members. Perhaps worst of all, THERE WILL BE NO VOTE FOR MEMBERS REGARDING THIS PROPOSAL. Some FOP representatives asked certain watches if members agreed with the idea, which they received a resoundingly negative response. Other FOP representatives simply stated, in summary, “THIS IS THE WAY WE ARE GOING TO VOTE BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT IS BEST FOR US” with no input from members of the watch. Apparently, the opinion of the members is not something the FOP feels is worth considering. Without a doubt, there is a minority of members that believe this may be the best way and they are entitled to that opinion. However, it cannot be denied, A UNION THAT VIOLATES ITS OWN MEMBERS’ RIGHTS, IS NOT A UNION MEMBERS SHOULD SUPPORT. Although it is not the first time in recent memory, it seems the FOP has AGAIN forgotten that their responsibility is to protect its members and not to provide what is easiest for the city and/or FOP Representatives

Good, because it’s also bad for morale. It’s only enforced on a few. It keeps the “CPD double standard” alive and well. The bosses special people don’t have to do it, while the lowly beat cop going to 911 calls has to. It has to be for everyone or no one at all. Just came out today that the swiping policy has not changed and all members are to remain compliant. A detailed swiping compliance audit is being conducted and people not in regular compliance face discipline. I assume regular compliance means swiping most of the time. They got wind some people aren't swiping and are looking to whack the habitual refusers. Until it gets undone, they are going to discipline people. Lemmer and his goons are going to make sure of it and Beck can't do shit about enforcing current policy already in place. It either gets undone or its enforcable and the memo today is a warning the audit is underway or soon coming.

Malinowski is a snake who has very little credibility with the rank and file of LAPD. Malinowski will bring 2 Deputy Chiefs from LAPD with him and introduce a Department disciplinarian. The issue is.....she has been down as the subject of Compstat twice before because of crime getting out of hand. She spouted some of the same shit she did in the past, which didn't work. Nice try. They’d have to discipline 10,000 police officers and supervisors. If they only target a select few they are opening themselves up for EEOC complaints. Any lawyer can get the entire departments swipe reports and ask why only his clients were disciplined? Besides, remember bosses never punish their friends. What was said is that the city wants the easiest solution not that the FOP wants the easiest process. There is still no agreement on how these areas will be filled. What is true is that if there were an agreement between the FOP and the city on how this will be decided then individual detectives can’t file grievances. It doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a contract violation.

All true regarding the "bidding" when Area 4 and 5 re-open. If the FOP were to even consider a superbid or any bidding process that null and voids a contractual bid spot, it would open the door for the city to take away assinged bid spots for "man power" issues in the future throughout the department. FOP must not allow the city to dictate assignments and bids whenever it suits the city. Bidding for an assigned spot that one is already assigned completely throws away any bidding power officers currently have. The FOP would be giving away the rights of its members.

Today, rumors that were thought too unbelievable to be true came to life. Our own union, the FOP, put forth a proposal TO VIOLATE OUR OWN CONTRACT. This proposal being made BY THE FOP does not have an effect on every member of the department at this time, but will certainly set a precedent that can have an effect on all members in the future. The proposal today involved staffing the Detective Areas after Area 4 and Area 5 open. In their own presentation, they stated THEIR OWN PROPOSAL IS A VIOLATION OF THE CONTRACT, a contract whose purpose is to provide and protect the rights of its members. In summary, the presentation included 3 rounds of bids. The first round would give those who want to go to the new Area 4 and Area 5 a chance to bid based on seniority and also 20% allotted for management. Second Round, EVERYBODY ELSE, would have to bid to a unit, again with 20% allotted for management. This includes, for example, if you are currently assigned to Area 2 and would like to stay there. In this case, a person currently assigned to Area 2 bids to Area 2 and will only remain if they make it by seniority or management. Round 3 would backfill the vacancies created in the areas using reverse seniority to remove units of assignments, another violation of the Contract. This completely undermines the bidding process. Detectives who have successfully bid to their unit of choice using SENIORITY as provided in the Contract, are being told that those bids will no longer be valid. Actually, it really is great being a dic. In my opinion way better than when I was in patrol. OT for us is still plentiful and there is still a way.. there is ALWAYS a way. Now excuse me, I’ll be heading to work soon where I don’t have a collar and leash tied to me.. will prob stop home until I get a job.. if I get a job in this weather, and go out with the guys for a nice dinner somewhere in the city... doesn’t really matter.. north, south, east or west.. doesn’t really matter at all. Regarding the realignment of the Detective Division, if the city eliminates Area North, South and Central, then they have to open it up to a super bid. The city is thus eliminating a unit Areas North, South, and Central and creating New ones, Areas 1,2,3,4,5 thus it has to be done via Super Bid.

Just wasn't speeding............was fleeing and eluding....wouldn't stop. In Cook County they usually don't prosecute, but other law following jurisdictions, they don't play around.
And should be fired for the Rule 14 where he told the Department a different story.

He was using a department vehicle in Indiana, most likely for personal business because he certainly was not on police business. He was talking on a cellphone, again not for police business. Indiana police put on their emergency equipment. Wodnicki kept driving and did not pull over. Indiana police pulled alongside him to tell him to pull over. While illegally talking on the phone, he just waved at them. They had to set up spike strips further down the road and then he finally pulled over.
He has no class. The Wod can't complete one sentence without saying the F word. Have you ever talked to him or heard him speak to a roll call? Total stroke.
He takes care of his people? That's right. He does. He takes care of HIS people but no one else. And a good boss is not one who "takes care of you." It's a guy who knows the orders, has been-there-done-that, mentors everyone not just "his" people, keeps you out of trouble, and shows you how to do things the right way on this job. Someone who is fair and not a tool.
If standards are supposed to be higher for police officers, then the standards for command, exempt staff should be even higher for them to be legitimate.

OT: Is anyone else waiting over an hour to get your assigned car? The dumbasses who thought it was a good idea to make every beat use the same car did not think it through. If the beat on the watch before you gets a late job or is sitting on something you are shit out of luck until they come back in.

I like Wodnicki as a person, but others have gotten fired for a hell of a lot less. The department will throw "Bringing Discredit to the Department" around just to get people, this is the time it is warranted.

Wodnicki is a stroke. He doesn't know our department orders, but he does know politics and Riccio.
He was using a department vehicle in Indiana, most likely for personal business because he certainly was not on police business. He was talking on a cellphone, again not for police business. Indiana police put on their emergency equipment. Wodnicki kept driving and did not pull over. Indiana police pulled alongside him to tell him to pull over. While illegally talking on the phone, he just waved at them. They had to set up spike strips further down the road and then he finally pulled over.
He has no class. The Wod can't complete one sentence without saying the F word. Have you ever talked to him or heard him speak to a roll call? Total stroke.
He takes care of his people? That's right. He does. He takes care of HIS people but no one else. And a good boss is not one who "takes care of you."
