Just Get Out of Schools Already

"New" restrictions, but seriously, there's no reason for CPD to be in the schools:
  • Chicago police officers posted at schools are no longer allowed to intervene in student discipline but will, at least for the time being, remain in more than 110 schools.

Those are among the changes laid out in a $33 million agreement between Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Police Department — the details of which have been newly released — that sets the ground-rules for a much maligned program that puts officers in school buildings.

CPD cops called “school resource officers” have been in CPS schools for years, but concern over a school-to-prison pipeline that sees students arrested for in-school behavior has ratcheted up the intense public scrutiny on the program in recent years. A few notable incidents of excessive force have shined the spotlight even stronger in the past year.
The schools don't want us there. In fact, the myth of a "school-to-prison-pipeline" should have been the final straw. We can't even count the number of incidents of what the law would define as criminal behavior that are reclassified as hi-jinks or shenanigans that the school would rather handle with "in-school suspensions" or "restorative justice," none of which involve the police and none of which actually deter aggressive bullying criminal behavior.

Beck, get us out of the schools and back on the streets where police belong. Let CPS pay off-duty cops and sheriffs for security.

I agree ! Those creeps at Barnard elementary school (gateway to Beverly) replaced
2 fine CPD officers (p/t security) with a mope from CPS and pay him a full time wage
with benefits! A losing proposition to the tax payers. That CPS principal couldn’t care
less about CPD or the dedicated service those off duty officers provided to the children
or community. Believe it or not, a rapport was established with the children and parents!
They were not the villains the media paints police to be.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard since the election of Foxx as states attorney. If the police can’t interfere who is going to stop all the trouble in Chicago high schools? I worked in a CPS high school for 20 years and must have broken up 200 fights. I thanked god that the police were there and came quickly to the scene before it really got out of hand. Please get the officers out of the building and then the CPS can figure a way to control the violence they claim does not exist.

CPS hires mopes off the street to be security guards without the required 2-3 years of security experience or any work experience, most often older gangbangers assigned to control their shorties and shitheads caught in a reverse time warp of how school works and getting a chance with teenage girls.

Or these mopes are political hires got some favor to help keep the mope from selling drugs and off the corner. These mopes then start their own dating service with the girls by touching, rubbing, and kissing on them.

It doesn't take but a minute to Google 'CPS security guard arrested for inappropriate behavior with a student' and up pops Walter Wells (Hubbard), Casino Cruz (Clemente), Ellis Davis (Juarez), Samuel Pearson and Luis Jaime Lopez (Steinmetz), John Laney (Taft), Ivan Cotto, and incidents at Austin, Foreman, Lane, Brentanno, and all over the city.

What type of training does CPS gove their security guards in lieu of the 2-3 years of security experience? It's a three day training course where the mopes sweat when asked what their addresses are or where they stay, if they were ever arrested, if they do or sell drugs, and all the while texting on their phones, talking over the instructors, leaving after signing in, and eating flaming hot something.

I get it that it’s a spot with weekends off, but it’s way too risky now.

CPS/CTU hates this country back to our founders. CPD is the face and fist of Obama’s “school to prison pipeline”.

I’d love to see CPD out of Board of Ed facilities (never call them schools), but it won’t happen.

You will be kept in these places as scape goats.

Imagine the fuck storm of epic proportions that would result if CPD pulled out and a mass slaughter took place in one of these shitholes.

Where were the fuckin’ cops, man?

Finally, why the fuck would you get involved in their discipline issues anyways?

What this fails to mention is that every school LSC voted to keep their SRO’s. Every single one. Even Marshal. The parents want the school officers there. You have to change the culture of the principals and teachers using us as muscle for their dirty work. There are clear guidelines and rules as to what we can and can’t do in schools and school officers need to stick to that and let security and the principals deal with discipline. We’re there for criminal matters only not for discipline of students. I’m a CPS parent and i want a cop in my kids school. With all the fucking crazies out there I want someone in my school just in case.

Some CPD School Sgts, did not help the situation. They would play politics with the School Administration, catering to the administrations every need. Moreless telling the school administration, whatever you need our officers for, is no problem. Turning the Police Officer into a School Security Guard, a Dean of Students, as well as counselors. One would think, the biggest Role of a School Resource Officer, would be to stop and Active Shooter Situation A.S.A.P. But what would I know, I'm just a citizen who supports and appreciates the Police Presence in our Schools.Stay safe Officers and Thank You for what you do.

I see two issues here: one, sworn police officers should not be in the schools, let the school system hire private security. The best way to go is with a contract security company. That way the security officers are not CPS employees and you can let them go at will. Of course, this will open up a golden opportunity for the political class to get a great contract. Maybe Monterey will get the contract or Eddie Acevedo.

I was detailed for a while inside a high school for furlough relief. Worst assignment ever. How some can stand do it, whether for weekends off or usually little supervision, most days there is always some kid that has a disruptive, violent freak out that causes the rest to unleash.
This is always a CPS problem they won’t respond to. Lazy, absolutely lazy incompetent principals and staff have long accepted this bad behavior.

So this agreement essentially makes the high school details an official acknowledgement to be a do-nothing assignment (like CAPS).
What’s the point of having a $90k non confrontational hall monitor sit around, won’t (and shouldn’t) officiate these problematic CPS incidents?
Certainly a waste of manpower that the Beat could use for something.
There are 165 high schools or facilities designated as learning academies (it’s an accreditation thing) and that could mean there are probably up to 300 or more police officers assigned to referee CPS neglect.
That’s enough for a new District.

The problems of the schools are of their own making. The teacher's unions as well as the entire structure are designed for 'edumacators' getting their's, and f**k the rest of us. If the district was actually interested in turning out a product the whole 'everyone is a scholar' tripe would be dropped and we'd have them doing like every other industrialized country (and what the US did before the Draft send to peaceniks to the teaching ranks) and split the little dears off into vocational, academic and reform tracts. High school teachers don't have the qualifications to teach rigorous courses, and lack the smarts for the shop world. 16 year olds with sufficient SATs can take college track, the thugs can be separated from the business students, and the real discipline can be applied where it is needed. Instead we have the chaos of today, with lousy results (but constant raises). Since we know the clown show isn't going to change, then let them hire their own school police. Of course, that might cramp the budget, but I'm sure that the 'educators'(damn, that sounds stupid) will be willing to take a pay cut. Or just cut school programs, since we know those high rollers in the teacher's union really could give a damn about the students. Either way, the District made their bed, let them lie in it. Fleas and all

That little asshole that shot up the school was kicked out for numerous violations, including verbals threats to shoot everyone and bringing ammo to school, but the assholes running the school didn't want him arrested thanks to that other asshole, Barak Obama's, Promise Program that removed Law Enforcement from the schools.

Oh they will still stick you there...to be a target. But they won't allow you to take action.

Its useful you know. If there is any mass shootings its useful to blame the NRA. In NYNY assaults against teachers are up 50% because of this asshole program that lets the little assholes get away with anything without getting arrested.

This program is why the ParkLand slaughter happened.

Let the regular CPS security handle it & we just do the cleaning up on paper if need be. I'm still on the job, but I finally made to 2nd watch which was 18 years in the makings. But when I was on 3rd watch, I worked CPS Security at a school for 10 years. My first 3 years were an up hill battle, trying to change the mindset of 1st the Administration at the school, the teachers, the parents and finally the student body. Lots of arrest made, zero tolerance, and I finally started to see the fruits of labor. We dug out of being a think it was called a tier 3 school which is a bad place to be. It took me 3 years to finally see the investment returns. Now that we got the misconduct issue mostly under Control the teachers were now able to begin to teach. By year 6 we can out of tier 3 to tier 2 and we celebrated. This created some noise in our region, like what's going on over at that school. This also attracted better and more talented teachers. Im sorry to say but it's the truth. By year 8 we came out of tier 2 to a tier 1 school. We celebrated once again. The student got to celebrate with us, they bought into the program. We maintained out tier 1 status for tier 1 for my 9th and 10th year. When we relected back everyone gave credit to the 2 policemen they hired 10 years ago. Me and my partner. We would hit the streets at ac3rd watch rapid and we patrolled directly on the beat that our school was located. We were a double edge sword. We would deal with the BS inside the school and we would track you down outside the schools. I loved arresting that parent that was I pain in the rear at school.

Anyway my point is that toward the end of my 10th year we were the writing on the wall. Current principal had announce her retirement and she loved the police. New regime take over and hostile take over, due to the power of the parents. Once that new principal recieved her 3 year contract, her true colors emerged. She was at the school for one month and she has not formally introduced herself to her Security team. First line of business in the 2nd month, me and my partner services were no longer needed. We said our goodbyes. Lots of students were crying, staff was puzzled on this move. The new principal cool, she greets us from the start and she was sent to deliver our pink slips. Half into that year quite a number of teachers choose to transfer out. I was shock, like who transfer she was part of the foundation. In 2 years this principal took that school from a tier 1 back down to a tier 1. The parents gave her another 3 year contract with the exception that she brings me and my partner back to deal with the student misconduct that's out of control. Me and my partner came to Interview and we told her "Fuck You."

Who the hell wants to work at schools?! If that’s the case just get yourself a part time that pays $30-$50 and hour. How the hell does someone even decide to become the police and want to go be a lazy slob at these schools. Has anyone seen this officers? Most are lazy, fat, and can’t even do paper. Not only do some just park outside the schools and sleep but why the hell does someone wear a uniform, calls themselves police officers and always ask for a paper car? Schools don’t need police. They have security. Most of their security are off-duty PO’s. It’s unbelievable. You have this PO’s working the easiest gigs and yet they are the laziest and they even have sergeants for these schools? Get the hell outta here. Work the streets. Be the police. Or at least pretend to be the police. That’s all.

So, for most of your career you have been doing nothing. Good for you. Now be fetal while in a beat car, unless you have another do nothing spot which also lets you be a do nothing cop.

Cold baby hands eddie acevedo is a drunk wanna be police/alderman/politican. tough talker when drunk at 5'5' 102 wet.Monterry galvan was a POS cop who got a PPO fired for his fuckups with renters.

Why are CPD arresting anyone in the schools unless it’s a violent offense. Graffiti is the schools problem same with a fight among kids. The schools have social justice employees let them handle it!
