Squadrol Shot At (UPDATE)

  • Breaking news on the West Side tonight, a gunman shot a Chicago police car, as well as a passing car.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at Jackson and Cicero.

On-duty CPD officers traveling southbound on Cicero in a marked squadrol heard gunshots, and then discovered their vehicle was struck by gunfire coming from the 4800 block of West Van Buren, police said.
We aren't sure if they hit the wagon box or the truck itself. No one hurt thank God.

UPDATE: The bullet hole:

That could have been painful.

It’s a good thing the department cared enough for us to have the interior of the vehicle panels sprayed with ballistic coating which prevents officers from being shot by the common handgun round especially since it so cheap. Oh wait, they don’t give a phuck about us!

The Officers were not the intended target. The wagon caught a stray bullet meant for other jag offs. Wrong place at the wrong time. But is there a right place or a right time to be in Austin?

Just driving down the street trying to mind your own business doesn’t even work on the west side. You end up in crossfire from the wild Wild West shooting range know as 015 & 011.

The FOP should be fighting for some kind of incentive for Officers that work in some of these districts. As soon as anyone gets anytime on they bail outta districts like Austin as fast as they can. All that’s left are PPO’s, normal po’s with less than 5 years that are trying to bid out and po’s with more than 10 years that are total malcontents. If you don’t realize after 10 years, in an anti police climate like this, that your best bet is to get out of the ghetto than you’ve got serious issues.

011 Wagon again? Here's a walk down memory lane fans, 20 years ago. Wagon from 011 does a transport to Central D on 1st watch. On the way back they decide some Goose Island Shrimp would be just the ticket. They drive down Division St. past the Cabrini Green high rises when Dude runs out from between the buildings and starts shooting at them. One bullet strikes across an officer's vest and explodes the ink pens in his vest pocket. It doesn't get much closer! Driver floors it and they make it out of there unhurt. Quickly assessing the "what the fuck just happened" factor, they call it in on the radio (Zone 11) and 018 shows up. They soon learned that 018 had shot some mope in the Green hours before, with the resulting unpleasantness by the other team, and had told all Zone 4 units to stay away from the area. It all gets taken back up into Area 3 for the paperwork. And, you guessed it, the Dicks ordered Goose Island Shrimp to graze on while they put it all together. (It's just that good.) The point is, if you work the Wagon, "You call, We haul, That's all." doesn't mean the real shit can't find you. Stay safe....

I like the irony of the 4600 & 4700 W Jackson Block Club sign at Jackson & Cicero. On one side it says “Adopt A Street Program, Mayor Richard M. Daley, City of Chicago (can you believe how long that weasel has been gone but still has his name plastered everywhere. You see his name more than Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, surprised he didn't come out with his own named clothing brand as he would have made millions!) on the other side of the sign are the block club rules, you know, no car washing, no littering, no horn blowing et. al. but the one they missed is, no shooting at our police. You know our tax dollars paid for that feel good sign do nothing sign. Has it done anything?

There was a time if the police were fired upon or something of a similar nature the area would be flooded with police on a mission for days or weeks and all laws would be enforced until someone gave up the shooter(s).

So what will the Mayor do now. Will she be outraged by this, will she back up the police and act swiftly on this act of violence and all the other shootings and killings, some of which are children, and all the other crime sprees that are occurring?

Look at Sunday’s Sun Times article on the Woman’s March in downtown Chicago. The Mayor was participating in the march with Foxx and Preckwinkle. The Times describes them as leaders. More like three political hacks that have done nothing effectively to stop the violence. Lightfoot said she was there for her daughter. In the photos you will see the marchers with signs some of which read, “Stop the gun violence” and “Dignity for incarcerated women“. The article makes reference to President Trump and this is the third march since he was elected and that he is the subject of the impeachment trial in the Senate next week. It was very subtle remark. One thing about our Democrats is they are experts at playing political theater here and getting all these dummies involved. It sure distracts all the low information voters here. If there is any politicians to be impeached or recalled it needs to start here as they are totally incompetent. And so the violence and insolvency continues. Let’s have another march!

I'm glad the officers are unscathed. But wouldn't it have been ironic if the bullet had killed one of the prisoners while being transported? Imagine arriving at a transportation destination and opening the box to find a prisoner who bled out! I don't know how a pistol bullet would get through, but a rifle bullet or two would certainly pass through relatively unaffected. And the story around the ghetto would be..."Damn, the man got him..."

Be careful boys and girls...

More evidence of lawlessness and brazen attacks on the citizens first and only line of defense against the criminal gangs, mayhem and mob rule under the stewardship of Lori Lightfoot and the Democratic Party. Citizens must realize by now Democrats have created such an unsafe and dangerous environment in the city. The rank and file have been the target of insufferable, corrupt and poor police leadership over the years brought on by Democratic mayors like Daley, Rahm and now Lightfoot. The Socialist Democrats have created a dangerous president similar to NYC, Seattle, LA and SF regarding city policing here in Chicago. They have instituted the effective neutering and denigration of efficient police services thereby creating a lawless and disrespectful environment for all concerned.

The criminal gangs and thugs now freely and openly operate with impunity under the social justice reforms instituted by Lightfoot, Foxx, Evans, Preckwinkle and Pritzker. All Socialist Democrats. You voted for them and you now own the fruits of your labor. You have allowed yourselves to be victimized by community thugs and repeat offenders through social justice reform. Now you have to pay with your life and property.

Know this, we will protect you to the best of our ability given these horrible realities you have brought upon yourselves. You have voted to ensure your victimization. You deserve what you voted for. You have minimized the deliverables of effective policing - you own it.

However in doing so, we will not jeopardize our safety and our fortune when deadly force is used against us. We will defend ourselves and our fellow officers from these deadly attacks. We will not be VICTIMS.

015 is a very dangerous district to work in. That though, is the job we signed up for. What none of us signed up for is to have narcissistic sociopaths like Captain Anthony Escamerit in a place of authority, to harass and demean patrolmen in some misguided attempt for him to obtain or maintain a level of power. He was in 015 the other day to write up cops for pimpy nonsense, then he was in 016 last night for 3rd watch afternoon checkoff.

It's a well known fact that he reads this blog and has angry outbursts when he sees people talking shit about him. He gets slammed on here, then doubles down by lurking around even more so to write up cops for infractions. See a pattern here? My advice to any coppers that get caught up by this moron is simple: Don't show any anger or nervousness in dealing with him. That's what he gets off on. No one has ever been fired for being out of uniform, not having a beat tag, or being late for roll call. No one has ever been fired either, for laughing at a supervisor. Treat this clown like the joke that he is and laugh at him if he tries to be a tough guy. The narcissist thinks they are superior and will have a mental collapse if they are ridiculed.

It will only be a matter of time before he screws up again and further sinks his career.

Hey Anthony! Fat, narcissistic, and stupid is no way to go through life son.

The $15,000 refers to property taxes that the idiotic voters over there pay for property taxes per year. Somehow, all this violence is President Trumps fault. Just wondering out loud if this shooting involved people of color or was it white racism? I mean, the white on black violence is rampant, it's like 10% of all inter racial crimes per DOJ statistics. That's 1 in 10. I wonder who the victims are in the other 9 cases are? You won't hear it on the mainstream media, it doesn't fit the toxic, malicious narrative that they portray every day.

Seems like you are the one with issues.
Some stay because they don't have the good fortune to have a phone call, some refuse to kiss a bosses ass, some scored well on promotional exams but were passed over by connected slugs, others want a summer furlough that senority allows.

stray bullet Says:

There is no such thing as a stray bullet.

It is a miss. The bullet did not hit the intended target.

The bullet cannot wounder around, looking for a place to land.

Bad aiming does not = stray bullet.

Lucky victim does not = stray bullet.

Stray bullet = miss.

I spent many years trying to explain this to an ASA.

Was told by midnight WC, "he was shooting at the guy you were talking to".

I was standing at the front of his desk when he said that, few seconds of silence and looking into each others eyes...and my "Yes sir".

Don't get me wrong, my partner and I were taken care from that point on and we both appreciated it...just part of the job.

Now excuse me, I’ll be heading to work soon where I don’t have a collar and leash tied to me.. will prob stop home until I get a job.. if I get a job in this weather, and go out with the guys for a nice dinner somewhere in the city... doesn’t really matter.. north, south, east or west.. doesn’t really matter at all. No be sure to clear that job right away or your sgt will be there waiting for that reprimand or meet. I don’t even really know if I have a sgt at all!!! Bad mouth it all you want, but the reality of how we have it, swiping or not is a beautiful beautiful thing.

Ladies and gentlemen here is the real reason for our abysmal clearance rate.

Has always been this way.

“I like the irony of the 4600 & 4700 W Jackson Block Club sign at Jackson & Cicero. On one side it says ‘Adopt A Street Program, Mayor Richard M. Daley, City of Chicago’ (can you believe how long that weasel has been gone but still has his name plastered everywhere. You see his name more than Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, surprised he didn't come out with his own named clothing brand as he would have made millions!)...”

Greatest Tagger this city’s ever seen, started Graffiti Blasters to cut down on competition. Four years back in Pilsen the Meals-On-Wheels trucks still carried his name (maybe still do haven’t cut down that block of 21st in a long while).

For anyone who happens to be working that spot. Tan caddy truck with the black White Socks plates is the guy who runs that corridor.

Feel free to fuck with him.

As a result of the wagon crew getting shot at on division a full blown attack was made on either 624 or 660 w division by 018 and housing north. An 018 district squad car was torched as it was left unguarded during the shakedown of the building. Real men with brass balls made decisions back then.

This started in 2016 many police departments have this feature the ones that care about their police officers;

FORD POLICE INTERCEPTORS BECOME FIRST PURSUIT-RATED POLICE VEHICLE TO OFFER BALLISTIC PROTECTION AGAINST ARMOR-PIERCING RIFLE AMMUNITION
Mar 10, 2016 | DEARBORN, Mich

https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/03/10/ford-police-interceptors-first-vehicle-to-offer-ballistic-protection.html

Yes Mayor it is time do your job protect the police officers that is your job, stay off the media bandwagon when you reverse law and order, support your police officers to matter fact give your police officers a contract minimum what you gave to the Chicago teachers union were you backed down and what you said you were going to do match the offer minimum don’t be scared.

When this happens, the supervisors down play it. Stray bullet, a stone broke the window, criminal damage to property.

"...FOP should be monitoring and documenting these cases and thier political action team should campaign against these candy ass judges at election time. Screw FOP and Cook County."

THIS. 100% THIS statement. Been saying it for years. Don't just blindly vote "NO" for all judges, should figure out which ones to keep that are justice minded.

Lol. Hey detective, you think it's really like you describe? Maybe it was for you. Once you find a good district, good watch, with good bosses it's a piece of cake. No pressure jobs, codes for most nonsense. Even with the occasional paper job, still FAR less paper than you're responsible for. Sgts that are off doing their own thing, not waiting for you. Once I'm done dealing with pookie, it's over...Don't have to keep calling him, tracking him down, sitting at 26/cal room with my "victims/witnesses,etc" waiting for trials. Here's your VIN/DIN M'am, have a nice life. Oh, and I KNOW what district I work in... I won't wake up one morning to find out some "powers-that-be" decided to move my Area, clear across the city or change my specialty (VC/SVU etc) like is about to happen. Overtime? Obviously you must want, like it, otherwise you would never want the D unit. Me? No thanks, when it's quitting time, it's quitting time, no "Sorry, I know it's your Friday & end of watch but I'm gonna need you to respond to some people shot /girl raped/ home invaded/etc. in 0XX district"
The bump in pay is not worth the amount of life you give over to this job. Sorry, but I have a family and exciting life OUTSIDE of this JOB and I like to spend as much time away from this JOB as possible, regardless of OT opportunities. Suits, ties, etc. Don't impress anyone. Also, just because you're in D unit doesn't make you exempt from shitty bosses. Seen many mass retirements, moves, over bosses over the years. And No, this isn't coming from someone who "did poorly on the detectives test" as so many who are criticized like to say. This is coming from someone who saw all the shortcomings of "promotions" and units, etc. I never took these tests because I didn't blindly accept your position as a promotion despite the possibly few perks you may enjoy. As with any unit, position change etc. look at when you get F'd, in the short & long run and see if it was worth it. To each his own, but just because you left patrol doesn't make your position the better spot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anthony Escamerit is a small, venial, narcissistic man who feeds his ego by using the power of his ill gotten rank to threaten the rank and file. He needs and feeds his ego to fulfill his personal and insatiable need to dominate others. The power he draws from are the cheapened tin merit captain bars that he wears which all know were not earned.

Men like Anthony are frightened when they are exposed as incompetent and disrespected buffoons. They are not feared rather they are laughed at and marginalized for what they truly are. So Anthony you can write us up for "chicken shit" infractions that will be meaningless days later. You however, can never be free of your who you really are as a weak and deeply flawed man and as a disrespected senior member of the Department.

While parked finishing a report, (stupid of me) S/B in the 5300 block of State S., it sounded like someone had just thrown a brick into the passenger door. I looked, fully expecting to see a grinning mental but there was no one there. Light bulb turns on in my head and I relocate to Wabash to assess damage. Thumb size dent six inches below window. I figured it was a large caliber handgun from the building on Federal that didn't have the oomph from that distance to pierce the metal. Glad it wasn't a foot higher. Never made a report of any sort.

True except for the part of the officers were unhurt the driver took the round in the right arm and when he went to the hospital the bullet was hanging out of the inside of his right arm he pulled it out himself, the officer who was the passenger was so shaken that he left the job a short time later

Make sure you keep bragging about your nice new position and the way you abuse it , the big brother monitors this site and will eventually get you a collar with a short leash.

Hey 1/20/2020 08:32:00 AM, you nailed it exactly! Having no clout, I realized early, exactly what you wrote. The only reason I took a promotional exam was to get in on any lawsuits. ;)

Half True:
True, Jeff P. is an American Hero, and a first rate Chicago Policeman. That night, after realizing he had been shot just above the elbow, he held the wheel and calmly drove us out of further harm's way. Solid, true, professional. We pulled over by the Shrimp Shack, out of range, to check for any other injuries. We were 011th District guys, on our way to Jimmy's Hotdogs for Phil C's desk crew, not looking for Shrimp.

False, the passenger did not leave the job. I worked a full tour today, and will tomorrow. In fact, I worked my next tour after the shooting. Not a victim, not shaken. The idiot from The Green was shooting at Chicago Police, all of us, black, white, brown, not just me, which is why I am responding to your inaccurate 3rd party recollection.

Be righteous. Never let them think they won. On the street, in the court room, in the media, or on a blog. Don't be content with letting the record show us in a bad light, or a weakened state. Be courageous. Stand together and persevere, everyday. Watch over your partners, and trust that they are watching out for you. That's how we work, then and now. Thanks Jeff.
