Scrambling for Fines

Remember all those fines - overdue and other - that the mayor cut because they unfairly targeted those who brazenly break the ordinances passed by the City Council? We wondered where Lightfoot was going to make up the roughly $120 million in now un-collectable fines:
  • Drivers who park, stand or otherwise encroach on bus and bike lanes would have a greater chance of getting caught under a mayoral crackdown proposed Wednesday to ease downtown congestion, speed bus travel and reverse a precipitous decline in bus ridership.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot introduced an ordinance that would allow parking enforcement aides to take a picture of the encroachment and mail the violation — with fines ranging from $60-to-$150 — to the address of the license plate holder.

Currently, the ticket can only be issued if the vehicle is parked in a bus lane or bike lane. If someone drives off to avoid the ticket — even while a citation is being written — the parking enforcement aide is out of luck.

The mayor’s plan would close that loophole by allowing parking enforcement aides to take a picture of the vehicle and send the violation and the photographic evidence in the mail within 30 days and no later than 90 days after the secretary of state notifies the city of the identity of the owner and no later than 210 days later if the vehicle is leased.
With all the bike lanes and dedicated bus lanes appearing, it's getting more and more difficult to simply pull to the curb to drop someone off in order to avoid outrageous downtown parking fees. It's almost like the politicos are trying to keep people from visiting.

Remember Susana Mendoza wanted access to sec of state data to automatically mail out tickets if your vehicle had a Chicago address ,Cross reference that in the city’s computer’s for city sticker and mail you a ticket. Jesse white refused access. Now the city sends you a letter with your vehicle vin stating your vehicle doesn’t have a city sticker and that you might get a ticket, sounds like harassment. Guess I’ll be getting those for a while, haha Hahaha haha.

As a law abiding citizen, and not a Leo, I’m getting to the point where I don’t give a shit what the laws are anymore. I no longer respect them because our new breed SJW politicians have turned them into a joke. There have increasingly been two sets of rules. One for citizens and one for illegals. For example, Americans were forced to buy life insurance or pay a fine at income tax time while immigrants are given health care for free. If that wasn’t so glaringly unfair, we now have rogue politicians and a “justice” system deciding which laws to observe and which to ignore. For example, abolishing fines because “poor people can’t afford them.” Again, influenced by personal bias and political lines. So what kind of bullshit is that for me? Who worked and sacrificed all their life? It makes me a patsy. And I don’t like feeling like a patsy. And THAT is why Trump was elected. Why? Because when people like me are getting fucked in the midst of all the “I deserve everything for free” madness, these assholes forget who is doing the providing of everything they are demanding and feel that they have coming. It’s a proven behavioral fact, in every psychological experiment that was ever conducted, there is never a good outcome when you take from one to give to the other. It’s demoralizing to the group that was doing the giving. I’m an old woman and my life experience and wisdom tells me that this shit ain’t gonna stand in the long run. Sooner or later, when people like me, who don’t feel safe anymore anywhere, take their rage to the streets it’s gonna make Ferguson look like a Ravinia concert. In the meantime, my husband and I got our FOID cards and signed up for Conceal Carry classes because it is clear that, for the time being. we no longer live in a civilized society. The police are not respected. Law and order is not respected. Rules are not respected. People like me are on their own. And I’m not a victim. And I’m not alone. Every baby boomer I know feels the same way I do. I would like to thank SCC for informing me, every day, of what I will never hear in the mainstream news. And God bless every goddamn one of you who wear the blue. I pray for you every single day.

I grew up in Chicago and enjoyed going " downtown" during the 50's. Parking in the underground garage and walking to one of the theaters to see a movie. Or walking on State St or the lakefront without fearing for your life. After 25 years as a LEO I retired in 1997 and left Illinois because of what the city and state had become. I'll never return to Chicago from the peace and serenity of the North woods.

As a disabled senior citizen living in the south loop, it’s almost impossible to find parking now because the permanent victim class free shit army parks wherever they want including handicapped zones. The democratic donor construction workers also park anywhere and Pigott, now Jacob Alderen and the caps officer refuse to enforce the laws. Lori has entitled and enabled the permanent victim class at the expense of everyone else.

OT, Does anyone know the circumstances surrounding the death of the young country music singer Lindsay Lagastee on February 14th? She was scheduled to perform that night at Firewater Saloon in Mt. Greenwood and reports say she was struck by a car. No inferences were made in any of the news stories I read regarding the driver of the car or the circumstances which caused the accident. I'm curious because I met this young woman and her boyfriend at the Blue Chip Casino where she and her band just performed. She was a beautiful young woman with a great voice and who was polite and respectful to this old goat. I was shocked to hear that she passed away.

I'd like to see Lori lay off the car owners for a change and start ticketing bicycle riders who don't follow the law. Also, make bicycle owners register their bikes, pay an annual fee and issue license plates that must be attached to each bicycle.

Someone must have double parked on the constipated Angry LightLoafers late-for-work route.
Some local reporter with little to do should be following her entourage to see how she encroaches the right lanes, hollywoods the crosswalks and stop signs. Advice: Maya Dukmasova don’t try this on a divvy.

LAZ Traffic aides aren’t allowed to visit the underserved areas because fines are not likely to paid or collected there, like the Boot teams, plus it ain’t safe in those parts either. Everything is downtown. LAZ uses quotas and the aides have to come in with their creels full.
Watch out for that side view mirror hanging over into the bike lane parallel on those lifted wide tire jeeps and pickups.
I expect the area around FOP will be first to get an extra helping of monitoring, as well as NW-SW zip codes just for spite.

No, the Groot loyal 47 Alderthieves won’t vote this ordinance down either. Eyed at the biggest offender, the Corporate delivery drivers doing commerce in Sanctuary City. They have a special fund that always pays the bloated fines and it’s their money thats meant to cover for the deadbeat scofflaws ignoring their notice of violation fines.

Cameras now for LAZ...wonder which donor nailed that contract. Send that banana “air mail”.
What happened to street sweeper cameras?
And CookCo just deemed Gun Offender Dashboard an invasion of privacy.
Not to mention the aforementioned flunky, lazy street reporter sitting around waiting to snap license plate pictures with the intention to intimidate otherwise legally parked drivers.

-

“A year from now, anyone who lives in certain zip codes will have their fines removed because of ‘hardships.”@2/22/2020 04:58:00 AM
- not a doubt about governing by zip code LightLoafer.
Much like the real estate tax assessments.
Maybe one should change their registration zip code to be elsewhere...just in case.
Maybe use PGM over on S. Canal Street?
Worth a try, I don’t think the system auto or geo-code corrects the errors, post office does that.
Better chance for that Groot Community fine amnesty too.

For instance, there’s a section of Diversey & Harlem on the Chicago side that for some reason has a zip code and city designation of Elmwood Park 60707, the addresses are clearly Chicago on Neva Ave.

I had to work downtown for a few years because that is where my company put me. Once I got out I have not been back.

The only places that I have to go occasionally are Midway and O'Hare. I do not park at either and do not get out except to help remove or load luggage.

I make sure that I have plenty of gas before I go.

Not a problem.

Remember when Emanuel decriminalized cannabis and instructed police to write tickets instead of imprisoning tens of thousands of minority youths daily for smoking marijuana cigarettes?

https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/chicago-starts-writing-tickets-for-marijuana-possession.

Well, that strategy has finally paid off. The city has since raised trillions -- yes, trillions -- in cannabis fines and is close to paying off its pension debt.

Lightfoot has been playing this story close to the vest, but will make the announcement this week.

They’re just going to rescind this just like they did with the red light cameras. So now a bunch of working class people working for Lyft, uber eats, and instacart are going to be on the hook for expensive tickets? Or is the city going to offer them the superficial “administrative judges” of 800 w superior to pretend to fairly listen to their cases. Nevermind these “judges” need a 96% conviction rate to keep their jobs. This is a violation of due process.

Chicago is already Doomed. Doesn’t matter what rules or laws are changed so many decent law abiding citizens are getting out of Dodge when and if they can. At some point there won’t be enough taxpayers left to pay the bills. Chicago will soon become another Detroit.

Incredible and they are going to give these goofs cameras, so let’s say they give me the old move right now and you don’t move quick enough I take a picture of your license plate but then again they won’t even be doing that anymore they will just be snap snap snap getting a Us photos and you will get them in the mail just like the red light camera collusion that is going on throughout the suburbs in the city with all the politicians on the payroll getting payoffs this will be the same thing somebody’s getting paid.

Finally a columnist can see with the Illinois economy is going to be due to the Democrats:

Suburban strip mall has everything you need for the weekend
https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/2020/2/21/21147839/strip-mall-suburbia-weed-pot-gambling-liquor

Gambling weed more gambling what else do you need to fill the strip malls? This is what the mayor of the city of Chicago is pushing expansions of gambling look at how she’s pushing for the expansion of weed stores pushing so hard! Again with this also who’s getting paid off it’s the Chicago way the most corrupt city in the entire country are the feds planning a massive round up or what are they doing? The low hanging in fruit here is extremely easy. They don’t need the Federal Bureau of investigation or the United States attorneys office nope they can hire a kid there is a drop out of high school and easily find all the corruption here, we need to get that Staples easy button highlighted everything here the elected corruption is so easy.

I am honestly REALLY happy about this. Uber drivers who do not know or care about laws pull over ANYWHERE ANYTIME violating ALL LAWS to pick up,, drop off or wait for their fares. I live in a condo building with a portico & unlike cabs who pull into the driveway Ubers block the driveway, block the corner so people can't turn, block the alley. I hope they issue a lot of these.
