Almost like they're embarrassed about it.
We are told the Sergeants list is down to near #700 for names.

They should be embarrassed that merit turned their 600’s into 900’s. The actual difference between 600’s and 400’s is probably near a fourth of a point. Congrats to those that made it!

People make an issue about the number on the lists, but 2 or 3 full points separate people by hundreds. I think it's better than having more sergeants with 6 or 7 years on the job.
Promotion list posted late only because of the police shooting.
Be proud of ALL the promotees on the list. All score, All earned.
Save the negative comments and be happy the city didn’t consider merit!!
I think the lists came out late because the Superintendent was tied up at the shooting
Congrats to all the Det’s, Sgt’s, & Lt’s! No merit so whether you have a personal issue with someone or not, they made it legit. The Sgt’s list was over 3,000 to begin with so these people did just fine being under 670 or so. Lists were probably delayed due to that CTA police shooting. Congrats EVERYONE!

So, Mr. Beck's tour is almost up and nothing has really changed. He talks like a Chicago politician about change, but nothing really substantive happens. Time for the next Supt. to come in and talk about change while the crime rates go up some more.
I hope that they have another Sgt's list soon, because I will have enough time on the job to take it this time. I will study at work and get at least 44 percent right, and then it's on to part two. Easy Peazy!!!
There's going to be some change when I'm in charge.

I think you might be into something, but just so we’re clear, your investigation revealed that these detectives were in a secret study group and decided to not score well enough to put them in the first class, but threw everyone off the scent by scoring well enough to make it six years after the test. I’m actually having a hard time coming up with another scenario that makes sense based on your comment other than they’re morons and had the answers and they’re just now making it.

Define meaning of "palooka": Someone who makes mistakes because of incompetence.
Anyone complaining about anything or anyone on this list must be merit people. When the public or the department reads this blog, they realize that police officers can never be happy. Getting rid of merit is the best thing I have seen in 16 years in this department.

OT Charlie "Hollywood" Beck looks clueless at conferences on TV. Him and the Mayor bragging about officers on CTA property. Less than 2hrs later, there is the incident at Clark/State. That is one of the worst shootings I seen. I realize that "the tubes" don't transit our radios. I realize that the guy refused to cuff up.I refuse to mention race (that will be brought up) but this was a horrible shooting. I feel like most beat officers would of been able to put this "subway nmenace" hoodlum in custody.

I was high 300’s on list 3 tests ago and couldn’t get promoted on Sgt’s. Probably due to merit. We should start a class action law suit for all the promotions that didn’t happen that included merit. They now go so far down in the lists just to make their quotas. They are scrapping the bottom of the barrel now!

Does the CPD use "banding" in promoting members? The CFD does but had to add "merit" to get the numbers they want.
Loosely translated, "Banding" is the process of adding a determined number to the scores of certain "protected class" (per Chgo. policy, NOT Federal)test-takers in order to have a "representative" group getting promoted. How and where the banding number is set is a mystery only the conjuring social engineers/SJWs at City Hall can explain/obfuscate.
An example: If a non-protected class individual scores 95 as a final grade on a promotional list and a protected class member scores 88, they have the same grade and are promoted in the same group. VOILA!! - BTW, there is NO minimum score required on the written test in order to take the second part of the exam!!!
The insidious social engineers/SJWs in City Hall go further. Promotions are often broken down into smaller groups with starting dates separated by a pay period. This widens the reach of the band. ... some may think this has a direct correlation to the Sunday demands of the Bully Pulpits and certain member of their flocks.

The OVER / UNDER for promoting off this old list should be around 500.
Going over 700 is scary considering the promoted bozos that are out there already.
I have seen great merit picks and bad ones.
I have seen great test takers and bad ones that have been promoted.
You can be the smartest one on a test and also be the biggest jagoff of a boss. U are never going to stop bad promotions and truthfully for this city - does it really matter.
Play the game and get promoted.
Show up and go home.
They should leave the current list up until all names that were affected by the merit bullshit get made. If they made 150 merit then go 150 more on the list. Anyone 1000 or below means they were top quarter of scores. That’s not a problem. Further, how many higher scores were the results if inside information? That pushes legit scores down the list too.

If approximately 3500 are on he ranking list and they are promoting at about the 650 mark how is the top 18% the bottom of the barrel?
I test scored in the top 8% of over 4,000 and had to wait 4 years for a Det promotion. Wife suggested don't waste the time on Sgt test.

Many in patrol see the bullshit supervisors have to go through, the bad bosses above them, the inexperienced reckless officers drawing you into career ruining lawsuits, etc. Not worth the rearranging of your life, or the extra pay. Climb up seniority as a PO only to be dropped to the bottom as a sgt. only to wait, fingers crossed, to make it to Lt. someday, even through all the cheating you see and hear of. Theres more to life than this damn job and rank advancement.- Someone who took a first round of tests because "take every test they offer" then realized those positions weren't worth it and never took another test again.

I Know Neal and he is a serious self promoter. That being said, he has the skills and knowledge that will never be recognized on this job if you aren't self promoting. He's a good guy and will do fine as a Lt.

Dont beef about these lists. A lot of these Officers would have been made legit if it werent for the BS merit hacks that took their rightful spots in line. Enjoy that apy bump & congrats to all the deserving test score promotees!

I’m all about being fair when it comes to test taking, but some of these officers being promoted are just good test takers, and nothing more. Some of them have never been on the street, have zero idea how the streets operate, are scared of their own shadow, and would have a hard time making a decision at the drive-thru at McDonalds. Let’s be serious here. A good supervisor is a combination of not only book smart but also street smart, along with being a good people person. I have worked in the southside, the westside, and currently work near north and let me tell you, some of the supervisors that we have that made it off the test are tools, are afraid of their own shadow, and couldn’t make a decision to save their lives.
I scored in the 300’s on the list before this one and didn’t make. To see people making it at 6-700 (a lot with no time on the job) is so frustrating.

Was Germaine and Lt Saadia Carter in the same minor fender bender? Saadia was off IOD For months and the car had NO damage. Birds of a feather Saadia doesn’t come to work either.....maybe because she is too busy being a DJ. Did you all know she was DJing in the multipurpose room one weekend
The OVER / UNDER for promoting off this old list should be around 500.
Going over 700 is scary considering the promoted bozos that are out there already.
I have seen great merit picks and bad ones.
I have seen great test takers and bad ones that have been promoted.
You can be the smartest one on a test and also be the biggest jagoff of a boss. U are never going to stop bad promotions and truthfully for this city - does it really matter.
Play the game and get promoted.
Show up and go home.
At least one or two more classes off this list before next list comes out....
Yes we did. She just had 3 sold out parties. She also was featured in Amsterdam, Paris and London this past summer and does the opening for a television show. 2019 alone she spent almost all of her free time in some other country. She said thank you for the free advertisement. LOL Looks like she is killing it at living life. How are you? LMMFAO

What was your score on this test? I took the last test as well and I too scored 400, and I too didn’t make it from the previous test. But Guess what I took it again and made it off this test,because I refused to be defeated!
Keep your head up and keep trying, if you really want it! It’s highly competitive but don’t give up!

With no test date for part 2 of the Sgts exam in site, they will make more classes of Sgts off this current list. Part 2 wouldn’t be graded until at least fall/winter...

There is absolutely no denying that there is noticeable disparity between merit supervisors and non-merit supervisors. Most merit come from units, which means not only are they dumb, but they have no street experience either.
Does anyone know what number they are actually at on the list? They haven’t even offered part 2 of test yet and it will take awhile to shire it. Bound to be another class.

You did not score in the 300's. I was in the 530's and was a little over 100 out when the list was taken down. Tell the truth if u expect to be respected.

Sorry to inform all, but these promotions for Sgt’s and Lt’s are the last from the current list! Regardless of what you hear. Dics will continue to promote from the old list, due to the need.
Detective list is now at 619.
Part 2 list won’t be ready til Fall/Winter. Lots of Sgts/Lts retiring soon. The city needs to keep up with the consent decree regarding supervision. More classes of Sgt and Lts will have to be made off of current list...
Grubisic. They don't make them like his father any more.
Germaine Dubose how the hell did this thing become a Sgt. I seen PPOs already more qualified than her. And I haven't even touched how many CR's she got underneath her belt.
