Warm-ish Weekend on Tap
We haven't tried to post an Over/Under for a while, so our skills may be a bit rusty. But as this has been a pretty ugly February and there are a couple of 50 degree days upcoming, we thought we'd give it a try.
As usual, the only verified count accepted is via HeyJackass.com. The count begins at 1700 hours on Friday (seven hours ago) and ends at Sunday at 2359 hours.
We're going to guess that March comes in like a bloody lion - five dead and a dozen wounded.
The tiebreaker will be to correctly predict the number of carjackings within city limits. We don't know where we'll find that info, but hopefully someone does.

Wow! Looks like a rough year no matter what the weather is. Beck and Lightfoot’s plan to put more police on the CTA didn’t go according to plan at all.

Be glad the Red Line shooting was a white man, or we would be seeing a lot more blood, mayhem, and fire.
What is saving the city from a really horrific weekend body count is that when the warm weather occurs on the weekend, it seems to come on Sunday afternoon. Shudder to think what the body count would be if it came on a Friday or Saturday.

Another lazy day passes in chicago. Two guys are swimming around lake michigan in 38 degree water and decide to climb atop an iceberg and start shadow boxing. This got way more media attention than the usual pile of people getting shot all over the west and south sides. There was the groot, looking a little more slovenly than mormal, standing next to perrywinkles at a dumbo foxx rally. The cherry on top of the whip cream was watching that butterball barb west give her press conference.
