Nearly 2,000 NYPD Out Sick
- As coronavirus cases in the New York City continue to rise, there is growing concern over the safety of essential workers.
Essential employees working in grocery stores, pharmacies and different city departments are required to report to work, including the police department. The police department says many of its employees are getting sick.
It says that as of Monday, more than 2,000 employees were sick, which police officials say accounts for about 6% of the department’s uniformed workforce. So far, 100 uniformed officers, and another 29 civilian employees in the department have tested positive for coronavirus.
And Groot has declared CPD lobbies will remain open anyway,

- The total number of Chicago first responders who have tested positive for COVID-19 rose to 11 on Tuesday, as a mix of Chicago Police detectives, patrol officers, firefighters and paramedics became sickened by the coronavirus.
Six of the cases are in the Chicago Police Department, and five in the Chicago Fire Department, leaders of the two departments said.

If members of the public come into the stations and infect police officers, Lightfoot needs to be the sole person to blame. When the community the station serves loses police officers they need to direct their outrage at Lightfoot. The stations are kept open when they could easily be closed. Nothing urgent or anything essential needs to be done at the desk. It all can be done over the phone or at a later date. Lightfoot is playing with the community’s safety.

Detroit newspapers are reporting this morning that a DPD Captain has succumbed to the Wuhan coronavirus. This is the second death in the department; yesterday's was a dispatcher.
I have a question isn't city hall closed for business, so if it is close down the police stations and help keep our department safe. Mayor lead by exaple.

Yes, Larry Lightfoot and JB mention every day how the President has failed in his leadership by not helping Illinois and Chicago as much as they have asked. What they do not mention is many cities and states are doing far better then Chicago in preparing for the coming infections. What do they think Trump can do? Shit out millions of masks and ventilators overnight? Our stockpile was depleted under Obama and he never restocked in sufficient quantities and never changed the laws to prepare as recommended. Everytime Biden gets on the news and says how wonderful he handled the last epidemic I want to scream as no one in the media calls him out.
Don't forget all the guys/gals who just came back from their furloughs abroad. They all should have been quarantined and never allowed to step foot in a station before being tested. Who knows how many are carriers or asymptomatic that are spreading it as we speak. This city/department is forever a day late and a dollar short on everything. Watch how fast this ship sinks when the 30% of the people who actually keep it running fall ill and cannot work.

The numbers are much bigger than that. My wife was told she "most likely" has it and told to quarantine but no test because her symptoms were "mild." I developed symptoms the next day. My doc said the same thing. Worst I've ever felt but we are both recovering. The point is we are both quarantined but will never show up in the stats. I'm LE but not CPD. We all know the bosses don't give a shit about us take care of yourselves and be as careful as you can.

I just tested today. I have a dry throat, cough and shortness of breath. I’ve done an exposure report and I get my results in 3-5 days. I’ll be staying my ass at home until then.
Does anyone else, deep within yourself, hope more and more people start going on the medical? I’d expect those with symptoms are smart enough to isolate themself, but why not throw in a few thousand medical abusers on top of that?

Separately, Commander Donafay Collins of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (Detroit is in Wayne County) succumbed to the coronavirus yesterday after a two week hospitalization. Cmdr. Collins had underlying conditions, but his infection was probably also occupational.

Now would be the time medical checks would be no big deal, especially if you are on the medical for the virus or suspected virus and won’t come to work because you self quarantined. Where else would you be?
