NYPD is starting to see a bunch of cases and resultant quarantines:
- The NYPD now has 98 confirmed cases of coronavirus — and double the average number of cops calling out sick, officials said Sunday.
In one Brooklyn precinct, the entire detective squad called out Sunday, one police source told The Post.
Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said 70 uniformed members of the NYPD and 28 civilians employees have tested positive for COVID-19. One person was released from the hospital Sunday while three remained hospitalized, according to Shea.
- Detroit Police Chief James Craig announced on Friday that five Detroit Police officers and one civilian contract employee have tested positive for coronavirus and more than 150 are being quarantined for possible exposure.
Craig made the announcement on Friday, saying he expects those numbers to increase in the coming days as more tests are conducted.
We are hearing (unconfirmed) reports of three total cases here - the original Homan Square detective, a sergeant at Area Central and an officer far south.
However, station lobbies remain open, officers are being denied necessary information concerning possible exposure and the "deep cleaning" that is taking place in a few places involved crews with no training, poor materials and masks that don't even protect from drywall dust.
While this is going on, inspectors are our looking for officers not carrying Tasers (with everyone working their days off, there aren't enough to go around) and Beck was reportedly furious at a social media picture of an officer working out to relieve some of the massive stress, he ordered commanders to secure, tape and lock gyms across the city. God forbid someone try to maintain their health while a corona virus seems to kill the unhealthy at higher rates.

We should have never allowed homeless to camp out in lobbies - especially like they did in Area Central. Yet no Supt, DC ever quibbled or took responsibility for the health of any other person coming into the facility for police related business. So Beck shutters the gym rooms and the homeless are still camping inside and outside of 51st ?
Gym rooms were always germ factories as much as station front desks, lobbies, processing and lock up holding areas way before this pandemic. It’s bad enough to have to handle car doors and steering wheels or even enclosed roll call rooms.
(I heard they have a way of doing teleconferencing sort of thing, where you don’t have to show up to do roll calls in front of large groups.)
Set aside the notion and political aspects that this City and State is exploiting the crisis and is purposely allowing itself to financially collapse, which would essentially bankrupt the budgets and eliminate those debts, that they are trying to keep at least 50% of this chaotic panic going through October to win an election.
If they’re closing stores, restaurants and non essential services, why haven’t they closed police facilities to non essential camp outs?
Did Larri and JBee shutter the shelters and soup kitchens?
Once this passes they Department will still allow full unprotected access, unlike suburban facilities that limit such. There will be no revelation and no reassessment of preparedness, which looks like will be the norm from now on once Dems lose in November.

I have taken the time to contact the media outlets to ask them to report responsibly when telling their feel-good stories. Teachers are planning honking parades to show their students they are thinking of them and this copycat behavior will only increase the amount of people on the streets and increase the likelihood of contact with police. Even a flat tire experienced by one of the teachers may require contact through roadside assistance. I asked the media outlets to discourage this kind of reporting because copycat behavior of fluff stories of feel-good deeds has the potential to have unintended and dire consequences.

It makes zero sense not to allow officers to work out in the station facilities. What difference does it make if the officers (within the same building) are at rollcall, and the front desk, getting their radios, in the hallway, or gathered for lunch in the break room, we are all in the same building. By not allowing the officers to work out, you are taking away an outlet to let off steam and stress. And most of this stress is psychological from not being able to continue with some sort of normalcy. But yet some idiot at headquarters decided that it was a good idea to close down the station gyms. Probably the same idiot that decided not to cancel officers’ RDO’s after all and sent out a message to commanders at 2330 hrs. Saturday night. Makes zero sense!

Point #1 we are ALL carriers with the potential to unknowingly infect others while not showing signs of the illness.

Every officers needs to make out an "Exposure to communicable disease" report dating back to Dec 2019 when news of this virus surfaced.
OT: The FOP by-laws I believe state Graham stays president until the ballots are counted. But that was with the caveat that the run off was finished by the April board mtg. Due to alleged problems that cannot be accomplished according to the election committee appointed by Graham. To lit a fire under this process the new board should let it be known that they will appoint the 1st VP as Acting President till the ballots are counted. The by-laws rule but this problem was never anticipated. Somehow I think the ballots will be counted on time if Graham knows he’s not president even if it’s only temporary. He did lose by 600 votes!

Same notices went up in 011. I actually think every officer should be REQUIRED to have 2 lockers...1 for on duty, dirty, work gear, uniform/vest/etc. The other locker for your civilian clothes that you change in & out of. I used to come and go to/from work in uniform but this whole virus thing got me changing out of uniform before I go home. No need to bring that shit into your personal car/home. Never gave it much thought before.
Area Central Detectives were informed by management that they took an oath and therefore have to continue to come to work. This after a Sergeant tested positive. They were also told that you are only exposed when you spend over 20 minutes with an infected person in a small space. So never mind that someone on the floor tested positive you are to be at work. None of this matches what is happening at other city offices. It seems to contrary to news reports of this virus and how it lives on surfaces and spreads. It's like they want us to get sick.

Also what is the average of death of Italians that are otherwise unhealthy. Wonder exactly what the mortality numbers are for someone catching the regular flu is for that age group. I know they are predicting about 55,000 deaths from regular flu this year. That by the way is 150 per day. Not saying this isn't real serious but not sure if it is serious enough to be shutting down the whole economy for and long period. Ifor this was not an election year question if there would be this level of concern. Impeachment didn't work so let's try this.

The locker audits are being done because you have officers changing areas and districts. Why should someone get to hold on to 2 or 3 lockers and not give them up because they are stressed yet have a deceive or PO come in to a area and have to live out of his trunk. Is he not going to be stressed? Think of the reasoning before you look stupid, it’s not always about you. You’re going to have multiple people moving into these stations (detectives, saturation, gun/ gang teams). I know that in 011 they’re are people who haven’t worked there in 5-7 years who still have two lockers.
On 3rd watch 14th district tact team went all the way to Grand and State to look for a stolen cellphone that pinged there. Talk about pure stupidity and even more stupidity by the supervisors for allowing it, just goes to show you even in the middle of a pandemic it's all about the numbers.

Legal Department is going to the federal monitor to get a stay on the consent decree for now. CPD won't be able to meet all the requirements on time. Additionally Areas 4 and 5 put on hold until at least September 2020. The City and Department trying to figure out what to do with the Commanders and Deputy Chiefs. Also the current promotional classes also delayed until August. The city realizes that there will be no money to pay the Bill's. Watch for increased property taxes in the future. This is a very bad situation we're going to suffer.

OT: The FOP by-laws I believe state Graham stays president until the ballots are counted. But that was with the caveat that the run off was finished by the April board mtg. Due to alleged problems that cannot be accomplished according to the election committee appointed by Graham. To lit a fire under this process the new board should let it be known that they will appoint the 1st VP as Acting President till the ballots are counted. The by-laws rule but this problem was never anticipated. Somehow I think the ballots will be counted on time if Graham knows he’s not president even if it’s only temporary. He did lose by 600 votes!
