Magical Red Tape
Our money is still on 002 being the breakout location for the virus epidemic:
- So in 002 today a prisoner on 2nd watch alleged to have the coronavirus. He was coughing and sneezing all over the place until they decided to take him to the hospital so now god knows how many people are infected.
The commander JW still doesn't have the stones to kick people out of the lobby that are here just to hangout and are not seeking any police service.
In addition to being inept, Commander JW also decided to place red tape at the doorstep of every room in 002 to instruct people to stay out....you know....instead of just closing doors. Somehow the red tape possesses anti-viral properties that are known to kill any strand of coronavirus within sight or sound of this special red tape.

002 is ground zero for all that is awful. It’s like a homeless shelter, soup kitchen, heroin shooting gallery, public toilet and drunk tank all in one. And that’s just the lobby. Add in the desk crew that are worse than having no one working and you are in for a treat.

3rd watch in 011 had about 15 officers directly exposed to offenders showing signs of Coronavirus in addition to several squad cars all of which had to be downed....the red tape method was put in place too. The lobby remains open to the public as well

speaking of incompetent white shirts... It seems Area South D-Unit 2W merit brilliance Sgt. A.W. saw it fit to give an unmarked, leased Nissan with no emergency equipment and no GPS assigned to Unit 620 to a connected on-duty 005th dist patrolman (and son of a current A/C D unit SGT) for use while out on patrol. The PO was not required to sign out said vehicle from the D-unit either. The PO then proceeded to work the street in 005 in said leased D-unit vehicle with absolutely no CPD markings, emergency equipment, GPS or any written record of him actually using it, and therefor unaccountable for any damage to it. Thankfully the PO's Sgt eventually observed the PO driving this unmarked Nissan Sentra around on patrol and put a stop to it. Hey Chief Deenihan, LT. Kelly, what say you? This is the kind of leadership you have in place.

That red tape has become quite catchy. This morning I stopped to obtain some cranberry juice for my kidney stone remedy and was met by Jewel cashier that barked an order for to stay behind a red line of tape that was on the floor. I obeyed the direct order and was in uniform. After paying she asked me if I played monopoly. I responded, "CPD bitch...who do you think invented monopoly?"
Word is that PO’s on the watch have had a few arrestees that have claimed to have the virus. Of course no one believes them. This is the first arrestee that claims to have the virus. By the way this arrestee tested positive. What are they doing? Closing the doors to the processing room and putting red tape everywhere. 002 is the Corona Club now.

You have a police district run entirely by merit patronage picks and it shows. If I was forced to work there I would not do a damn thing.
If you are out arresting people for anything but murder and armed robbery, then you are the fool. Double that if you encounter someone who looks or act sick and you don't run away as fast as you can. Who is the douchbag who brought someone into 002 coughing and sneezing? But, then again,you have the failure of the department to close these lobbies to the piss bums, addicts , mental cases and homeless and shelter them someplace else. They can easily infect the entire police population of 002 and other districts.
Don't blame stupid people for being stupid...they can't help it...Blame the Mayor...Daley, Rahm or Beetlejuice for putting them in charge...but don't forget everything is the fault of the police and Trump!!!
There are a few in 002 that no one is talking about. They’re trying to keep it in house. Supervisors just sending PO’s home. Someone should stop by and ask 1st and 2nd watch supervisors why there are fewer PO’s everyday.

What I find hilarious is that we are supposed to disperse the public if they are congregating in groups of 10 or more yet, I found myself working VRI this weekend and being corralled into a van 10 deep with couple of the officers sneezing inside...This should be a violation.

Exactly. Don't know anything about "JW" but is 100% the fault of the immediate supervisors. The officers exposed in 011 were answering a call and we heard it was a shitshow, so arrest was unavoidable...However...tact teams on days in 011 and 010 apparently (Shared zone10) are still trying to stop, chasing and carrying on business as usual! Those tact Lt.'s and sgts need to be talked to and told to tell their guys to STOP! The watch bosses at least have good heads on their shoulders. Hey tact...The bad guys will always be there! Nobody wants your spots! You won't get dumped! The problem is they always draw the watch officers (who know better) into their bullshit! Transports, "help us find dude" etc. I can't believe how dense these tact guys are! The department LOVES sheep who will do what they're told without independent thought. Quit putting the station at risk with your stupidity!

...stop defending incompetent bosses! The point of this post was how the frick is red tape going to stop an unseen virus & the fact that you have a Commander who allows homeless to sleep in the lobby, exposing officers at the desk & anyone they in turn have contact with to the possibility of also being exposed. You reduce your chances of getting a virus by limiting unnecessary exposure to others. What’s the red tape telling us? It’s telling us that those are the “protected” from unnecessary contact with others. But Stupid doesn’t seem to get that if a desk officer is exposed via a homeless person, the chain of exposure just continues. Yes, are TACT guys fools for making unnecessary pinches during this time? Yes, they are. But additionally, you already have people who’ve tested positive in the building and the virus is there roaming amongst the ranks, unseen & unaffected by red tape. Red tape is unnecessary and stupid. More than likely, the virus has been running through quite a few of us - completely unnoted or unnoticed until the past few weeks. Wash your damn hands, clean your work spaces, maintain distance and limit time you spend around people.

Homeless should not be allow to sit on the lobby benches because many smell like dry urine. A victim came into the station to see me and she had no place to sit because smelly homeless were on the benches. She had to stand and endure the smell. The sad part is some of the homeless listen to the conversations that the citizens have with desk personnel and detectives. They stink up the bathrooms and stop the sinks and toilets up. Some even comment. Between the bedbugs and the corona virus, they should not be allowed to hang out in the stations, especially the ones who sleep in the entrance doorway.
OT I’ve noticed that officers who talk entirely too much have a hard time with social distancing. They take it personnel. They walk right up and go on and on about the virus. Dude get back and shut up! There’s at least two in every unit.
Funny , in the military , Red Lines were also known as deadlines. and if you crossed some that was it. Especially in/around nuclear ammo dumps, jet flight lines , and areas of Naval ships.
So that tape looks a little weak , without some guy with a locked and loaded M-16/M-4 around.

Yesterday I called the police department of my small town to request a meeting with an officer to document what I believe is my victimization from an out-of-state scam. My few interactions with the PD over the decades showed them to be very service oriented. The station has a very small entry area and you have to be buzzed in. The officer I talked to on the phone said the lobby is closed and they have been ordered "from above" to avoid non-urgent contact with the public so he couldn't see me even outside the station. He gave me a case # and his email so that's how we'll do business. The virus is not yet prevalent in our area but our town has taken steps to protect our officers and the public from unnecessary medical risks of non-urgent interactions.
It is shocking that CPD allows homeless and riff-raff with no legitimate police business to congregate in its lobbys. They are vectors to infect CPD staff, each other, and members of the public who do have legitimate police. Maybe a CPD officer or staff, or a member of the public who believes they were infected by people inappropriately in the lobby will sue for a lot of money. CPD has a "duty of care" to people who come into its buildings and this is obvious negligence.
