During Gov. JB Pritzker's health briefing on Sunday, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, the Illinois Department of Public Health director, said anyone who had COVID-19 at the time of death, even if the person died of other causes, is counted among the COVID deaths.
In fact, even if a person is in hospice for other reasons but has COVID, too, that death is still counted among the COVID deaths, Ezike said.
This seems more than a bit dishonest, but there's the Illinois Public Health Director telling everyone paying attention that it doesn't matter what you die of. If you have COVID, you died of COVID.
By this logic, you can die of a gunshot wound and - surprise!! - it's COVID. You can be hit by a train, and when the pieces of you arrive at the morgue, by golly it wasn't Burlington Northern smearing you across the landscape that killed you - it was COVID.

More data has come in now showing the mortality rate isn't 2-3% but in fact more like only 1 tenth of 1%. There should be a historical record of deaths by diseases. It would show that X amount of deaths are from heart attacks, lung disease, kidney disease, whatever disease and those will show an average of how many die from what over the course of 10-20-30 years. If a chart is made and shows that deaths from those illnesses declined by large margins then the covid stats are phony. Then again Jabba the Pritzger is a phony, Mayor Larry is a phony. You don’t have to have the virus when you die. Medical examiner is not taking bodies. If you say the dead person had the virus then it counts, no test. I kid you not! A good friend of mine living in Massachusetts had his wife pass away recently. She had advanced MS and pneumonia. She was tested in the hospital twice for Covid-19 and both times the test was negative. Upon her passing, COD was listed as Covid-19, over the strenuous protest of my friend. It made no difference. The hospital wanted the Covid money.
It's not just the dems. I watched the Trump Corona virus task force live. They said the same thing. And more. Dr. Birx said you don't even have to test the dead. You can assume they had the virus. And the Feds, not the state, are paying over $15,000 per virus patient to the hospital. This gets the hospitals to willingly go along with the scam. Your assessment of how they list death is intetesting, but a little off. One of my wife's best friends husband is a doctor. He works in Advocate system and and runs an ICU. I asked him, On phone about this as it keeps coming up. He said most people do not die from covid per sa but complications caused by covid. For instance, people with diabetes have huge problems with kidney failure if they get covid. The cause of death is listed as kidney failure brought on by covid. But when they list it covid is cause as person probably would have lived, maybe a long time, if not for covid. This is not the flu or just a respiratory disease, our friend is a respiratory specialist. It causes inflammation of organs like the heart, kidneys, and lungs. People with other conditions who would not normally die, except for being infected with covid, have cause of death listed as covid. If you have heart disease and you are shot, cause of death is being shot. Even if bullet didn't kill you but caused you to have a heart attack, you probably would have lived longer if not for being shot.

This is all because our governor and mayor would rather treat us like blue canaries than let any of their voting base feel any of the impact that the taxpayers of this city are feeling because of this pandemic. Once you realize that our democratic politicians don't give a rat's ass about us, the better off we will all be. We are on our own. Act accordingly.
People who are shot to death or die in car accidents, etc., are classified as such, even if they have the virus. Most of the people who study such things say the lack of testing supplies has made the numbers mostly under reported, not over reported. And there are strict guidelines for classifying probable death due to Covid, such as medical history and symptoms. I'm not here to defend anyone, but all the unknowns about this virus has caused many protocols to swing with the prevailing breeze. I'm assuming the statements referenced in the poorly written linked article were referring to the CDC's recently adjusted guidelines for putting "probable" Covid deaths into the total when the deceased has not been tested. Again, it does not involve gunshot deaths, etc., being lumped into the Covid category.

Just thought of something. If the schools stay shut down till January, how will they feed them all? Home delivery? Are they gonna deliver food door to door?

Read an article that stated if you die of covid-19 in a hospital setting, the government reimburses the hospital $39,000.00 from medicare or medicaid as opposed to just $9,000.00 for any other cause of death. Always follow the money.
The scarf-lady at the CDC admitted this is how it’s being done nationally at a presser last week. Anyone that dies with the virus is a virus death, no matter their real cause of death, period. It’s a total scam and they know it. Deaths from other normal causes are way down amid all these virus deaths. Clearly this is a political game being played to scare folks and destroy all the Deplorables.
Think about it, what groups are being damaged the most by these shutdowns? The rich are rich and getting even more rich everyday. The poor are poor and already live largely on assistance. Government workers at all levels are still mostly employed and even the furloughed ones will be back with full pay soon.
It’s the Deplorables that are getting creamed with the shutdown. Middle-class families, working-class folks, and small businesses. This 90% of Trump’s 63 million vote base. By the time we get to November, nothing will be left of these people and they won’t be voting. Mission accomplished.
For the skeptics, ask yourself if all of these blue-state governors would be increasing and extending shutdowns if it were their base getting hammered? You know the answer.

technically, you don’t die from a gunshot wound. You die from loss of blood, oxygen, or other organ failure. But we count it as death by gunshot. Covid does the same, so this is consistent

Your assessment of how they list death is intetesting, but a little off. One of my wife's best friends husband is a doctor. He works in Advocate system and and runs an ICU. I asked him, On phone about this as it keeps coming up. He said most people do not die from covid per sa but complications caused by covid. For instance, people with diabetes have huge problems with kidney failure if they get covid. The cause of death is listed as kidney failure brought on by covid. But when they list it covid is cause as person probably would have lived, maybe a long time, if not for covid. This is not the flu or just a respiratory disease, our friend is a respiratory specialist. It causes inflammation of organs like the heart, kidneys, and lungs. People with other conditions who would not normally die, except for being infected with covid, have cause of death listed as covid. If you have heart disease and you are shot, cause of death is being shot. Even if bullet didn't kill you but caused you to have a heart attack, you probably would have lived longer if not for being shot.

So we screw our futures and risk civil unrest on a national scale because certain people can't stay out of the feed bag. If someone has risk factors, furlough them until the threat is down. All these people out of work will cost much more than to quarantine those with threats and pumping funds into research. What are these folks going to do when the money for that expensive care runs out? Give those with cardiac conditions an early retirement instead of having them get exposed; that would have saved lives in both police and fire agencies, and the enabled tax dollars to support them. Instead we have blue canaries and pissed off citizens on both sides of the law.

Is it a coincidence that just when the economy is booming, the stock market is setting record highs, we are winning the trade wars, school shootings have stopped, our nation is at peace, the Democratic party is a disaster and so is their likely nominee(Biden). He hasn't a chance in hell & they're not about to let an outsider(Bernie) destroy their scheme.
It looks like Trump is a sure bet for reelection after fending off 3 years of investigations and impeachment, then all the sudden world crisis pandemic. Stock market tumbles, companies are laying off employees, everything is closed and canceled, CEO's of giant companies are resigning and indictments are coming.
Now they say there are a couple ways a President doesn't win reelection. Those are an unpopular war or a poor economy.
But there is something larger going on here driving this sudden outbreak right after Trump beats an impeachment. Especially the fact that it(Corona virus)originated in China who we are in a global trade war with brought on by Trump. Let's not forget Biden's back door deals with CHINA as well.
China doesn't want 4 more years of Trump either. It all seems rather convenient for the nations and opponents of our current President and economy 5 months before an election. Couldn't have hit at a more perfect time.
With the Democrats running out of campaign talking points in light of no school shootings, no migrant caravans at the southern border, fighting in Syria winding down, North Korea not firing missiles and Trump beating a sham impeachment. The corona virus gave them one last hail Mary to try and point fingers at Trump with the clock winding down in 2020.
This is almost the perfect fascist playbook. Control the population with fear-mongering and panic, control the media, spread propaganda and the fan-favorite disarm the population. Oh, and did anyone notice that while they are mad as hell at Trump for not sending aid to Ukraine, they THEMSELVES voted AGAINST giving ANY emergency aid to all Americans ?
Sorry but I don't think we are all going to die. Remember when Ebola was what was going to kill us all, and the media kept showing the piles of body bags that were prepared for the fallout. Then a month later it was totally forgotten.
The common flu has killed more people this year already and the media is SILENT!
A handful of deaths out of 320 million Americans and we are in panic tearing down our society and costing our economy billions in the wake. It all just seems fishy, a little too well-timed if you ask me.

I think you are wrong on that. I predict by the time the election rolls around, voters will be soo pissed off at the over-reaching leftists that they will crawl over broken glass to get to the polls and vote for Trump.
