Dems Beg for Money

The arrogance is astounding - if you didn't know Illinois politicians:
  • Democratic Illinois Senate President Don Harmon is asking federal lawmakers to provide more than $41 billion to the state as part of the next coronavirus relief package, including $10 billion to stabilize a massively underfunded pension system.

“I realize I’ve asked for a lot, but this is an unprecedented situation, and we face the reality that there likely will be additional, unanticipated costs that could result in future requests for assistance,” Harmon wrote in a Tuesday letter to members of the state’s congressional delegation.
Following decades of fiscal mismanagement, misplaced priorities and outright criminal underfunding, Illinois dems are asking Illinois reps to steal billions from the rest of the nation and cover their thievery. How about making some actual concrete efforts to be responsible with money instead of pissing it away every time you see a bloc of voters you can buy off?

(a bunch of interesting graphs and tables at this link here.)

The State of Illinois made no effort whatsoever to trim expenses during this viruscrisis. Kept spending like all was gravy. No they expect the Feds to bail them out of their stupidity.

Ain't gonna happen. Feds are broke too.

The only thing thing that will possibly solve this is to reopen the economy IMMEDIATELY.

Is this the Illinois Democrat’s’ way of admitting there’s a problem?

Covid is the cover for the pension bailout they know is about to finally destroy this state.

When Trump and the senate politely decline to rescue this Dem deadbeat state, the media will unleash a fury of abuse on them and ignore the decades of Dem corruption and incompetence that brought us to this point.

The 41 billion does not begin to address the pension shortfall created by the demoRats in Springfield. I submit that this ploy for the money will be used for mail in voting or ballot harvesting. The DNC is desperate to win at all costs in November. Watch for other demoRat controlled states to claim similar requests. Trump is not in favor of mail in voting or ballot harvesting.

How about some criminal charges for the decades of mismanagement, overpaying for state work for political (kickbacks) donations to favorite charities (themselves), tax after tax and then the collection of those taxes by third parties who take their cut(completely unnecessarily) giving the state less than 50% no doubt, and if that isn't enough quite a few legislators steer work to private law firms, insurance companies, supply companies...etc... There is NOTHING BUT COLLUSION, NEPOTISM, CONFLICT OF INTEREST, AND THE POLITICIANS WRATH FOR ANYONE WHO CHALLENGES THEIR POWER!!!

Hell no! This is not due to covid. I'm sorry for the civil servants that were promised pensions. Go speak with your state and/or local gov reps and ask them for the money and where all that money raised these past years went. Tell them to cut spending. If you're counting on an increasingly fleeing populace to fund your pensions good luck. No fed bailout for mismanaged gov't pensions for any state not just IL.

Aldercreatures, Gold Stars, Groot, Governor (who is a billionaire by the way) and Senators all should be taking paycuts to help with the economy and to show Americans who have lost jobs that they can help out as well. Funny how citizens, entrepreneurs, chefs and others are helping out those in need and those who COULD afford to loose a little don't, like the assholes I mentioned above. The genesis of this problem began in the 1940's/1950's. I remember classes at Chicago Circle in the mid 1960's (Yes, 55 years ago) discussing the future and ramifications of public pensions and early retirement. At that time, public servants such as police, fire, and transit personnel we grossly underpaid compared to the general population. At the same time, public union representation was weak. While not being able to pay a higher wage, city and state officials decided that it would attract potential workers and maintain the ones they have by "paying it forward" with generous pension/early retirement benefits...in many cases far more generous than those benefits offered by businesses and Social Security. There were really no present value costs to the taxpayer so the benefits were quickly adopted.
Now here is where both the city/county/state and unions share culpability. As public unions gained collective bargaining strength, they not only were able to increase the wages of public union members but, over a period of years, increase wages over and above the private sector. Public union leaders began to have a cozy relationship with city/county/state elected officials and vice versa resulting in the proverbial "quid pro quo" "votes for benefits" and benefits for votes". Although this is an unpopular view with both public union members and politicians, indeed, this pension crisis is a two-headed monster and has been from the very beginning.

Well if they start taking away pensions then they need to start with IMRF. They are highly funded and that's a requirement because this is the pension of the mayors and other municipal employees who DID NOT FUND police, fire, teachers and other pension funds! At the same time if people are going to lose pensions then we need to put A LOT OF POLITICIANS IN JAIL! If we are looking for funding then we need to get loans or grants or help like the insurance industry, automakers, small business, other large corporations, etc..etc..etc...
If they take pensions then its time to liquidate museums, art work, politicians unexplained wealth!!! I am sure the cops and fire fighters will not sit still when you tell them they need to go get a job after 25,35, 45 years of service. Expect to see pitchfork carrying, tar & feather ready militia's, scouring the streets in the state of ILL-ANNOY!!!

$41 billion includes hundreds of millions JB LateMinute Panic ChinaShopper wasted on hasty purchases.
So far JB HamHocks has bellyached for or about something different everyday...
- ventilators
- PPE
- hospital beds
- empty private hotel rooms
- no end in sight, tax revenue shutdown
- early last week started up with the budget woes and pitched the Graduated Tax Plan.
- no testing, no test kits, no testing sites
- sends in a dependable chump to do the Federal bailout money pitch

Spend, spend, spend, deplete, raid budgets and spend s’more.
Now they're pushing something new, a targeted racial inequities health response program and it’s just another Democrat nationwide ploy from their playbook that was just released. Never mind that this has been done before for over 50 years for everything from tobacco, alcohol, drugs related illnesses to education, job opportunity and of course criminal justice. Covid’s makes it new again.

JB Porkshoulder is as stupid as he sounds. Listening to him these past weeks and it’s annoyingly clear. He used to try to spin everything the the same day the President would say after the daily White House press conference. Since the White House started later early evening pressers, JB Shyster had his Team do the spinning during the overnight so the next afternoon he can respond to prescreened questions from local at-Home Online FakeNews reporters.

Here’s the deal...
If JB Pigfluenza doesn’t get the Fed Bailout money, he gets to try and blame President Donald J Trump. Dems are frightened and pretty much know they have no path to win the White House. Best they can do is smear the Administration and try to hold the US House.
Illinois has 3 vulnerable US House Representatives on the November ballot including corrupt senile crank Durbin. For the record, USA need to flip 12 US Rep seats nationwide to regain the House.
Illinois is very close, closer than most think to turning into a Red state or at least purple.

Stockpile some that cheap gasoline while you can. It will be first to see a 500% tax surcharge.

Sadly, no. Illinois' pension debt is $214 Billion (with a B). The hole is so deep that there's no realistic way out of it. Which is why the IL Dems are trying to scam the rest of the country into paying for some of it. They have no shame. The other states should roast these Dems on a spit. Bad for us, yes. But at least IL residents keep their honor and dignity. Something our Dem politicians lost long ago.

Although this is an unpopular view with both public union members and politicians, indeed, this pension crisis is a two-headed monster and has been from the very beginning.

There is some very good points in the above listed post, but the truth is the only reason the pension system is so flawed is because the politicians changed the rules and started taking money from the pension funds and not putting that money back. Also, the pension holidays were created so the government could go years with out putting their fair share into the plan. They should not have been able to take money from the fund, it should have been untouchable and they should not have been able to take the pension holiday because of some made up formula by some accountant connected to a politician. The Pension fund will be running smoothly if the politicians didn't change the funding rules at their leisure. I worked in the private sector for 14 years prior to taking the city job and just last week I received the prospectus of the fund, and that pension fund is 97 % funded. Why is that possible, because the private sector kept the rules the same and always put in their fair share and didn't come up with some bs rules just to steal from their own employees like the politicians did. Also, that pension plan I speak about has been around longer the the 1960's so if the politicians would have stuck to the original rules we would not have this problem today.
Politicians are filthy animals.

Indeed, much like Federal Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Those funds wold be soluble had not the politicians misdirected nearly $5 trillion of those into the general fund to be spent on everything but what they were intended for. China only owns about 7% of the country's debt. Most of the debt is owed to our own American people through those funds mentioned above plus pension's, IRA's, 401k's, that own Treasuries that are almost totally unfunded.
