- Just when you think 003 couldn't get any worse, it has.
--On the same very sad day of the announcement of cpd's 3rd Hero losing his life to COVID-19, a citizen well known by several officers from all watches makes a generous donation by dropping off boxes of N95 masks to 003 . When requeated, Officers were denied the mask by the incompetent merits of 003, as the masks are being held captive within the caps office by their well known house mouse merit caps Sgt.
-As all other districts continue to advertise their donations received from outstanding citizens on twitter, 003 district officers on 3rd watch were told they have no more department issued PPE's for everyone.
- Officers are being given roll calls by various Lie-tents, one who admitted he got tested due to having mild symptoms and still came into work, only to go on the medical the very next day with positive test results.
- Officers of 003 are falling short of man power on all watches to COVID-19, lack of leadership. Is the poor leadership contributing to the mass exodus of sergeants leaving 003?
003 has been a disaster over the course of our entire careers. Why would it change now?

I’m going to bet there were probably enough masks for the entire unit, but the idiot commander, the suck up caps Sgt and the rest of the “inner circle” of ass-kissers probably raided the supply for their family/friends, and there won’t be enough for everyone. This Dept., this city, and this job are so fucked up that it’s beyond comprehension. Retirement can’t come soon enough.
That fat ads desk dolly meritoriously promoted franklin Paz conducts roll call from his office. All officers are to stand outside his office while lard ass calls names out from his swivel chair in the watch commanders office. It’s distrusting what gets promoted because I’d who they know and what prick they came out of. This desk dolly has no business being in charge of anything.

003 has a history of being awful, but when Evan's was there and then SL became Captain and DD was commander after GL left it wasn't awful. There were alot of good cops working there, both young and veteran. Plus they had a year or so of having good Sgt come through there out of the academy. Problem is nobody stays, all the good officers leave or get promoted, all the good Sgt leave as soon as possible and before you know it, its back to being garbage again. Lt are pure crap there now again bc again the good ones leave to 022 or retire..

They voted unanimously in favor of Brown and will send it off to the full Council for approval.
“Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson (11th) had no questions — only praise — for Brown. His primary concern was figuring out how to get the Dallas native to root for the Bears, not the Cowboys.”

It falls upon every officer to obtain their own supplies in numbers that will last beyond this pandemic. While donations from goods citizens are appreciated, it seems that these much needed medical supplies do not reach the ones in the trenches. Why? So are the supplies being divided up by those in charge before ever seeing the light of days?
What is going on in 015? Recently retired but I visited 015 this afternoon during the Roseland Hospital event. A young officer was gracious enough to direct me to the private restroom in the back hallway. As I approached the restroom I noticed some buzz down the hall. After finishing my business my cop curiosity got the best of me and I walked towards all the activity. I was a bit stunned by what I saw. There were about a dozen officers, including a handful of County Sheriffs, holding a meeting in a small cramped office. No masks, no social distancing. An officer I spoke to told me it was a daily meeting discussing district crime. If this is happening everyday God bless these officers and keep them healthy and safe.
Had to work there for a gang enforcement detail a while back from the north side. The desk crew on midnights were unbelievably rude, lazy and condescending to us. We came in with prisoners and asked for arrest reports & complaints when one of the desk queens said, Excuse me I am serving someone now you have to wait! And she was working at postal speed. We said just tell us where they are and we will get them. She said, Don’t you dare come behind this desk. And do you think the rest of them could have helped us, no they made themselves unavailable. When we were finished and leaving we walked past the W/Cs office, a voice hollers out, Hey you guys come in here. He was a Lt. and was amazed that we got sent down there all the way from the north side. We chatted for about 20 minutes. He seemed glad to have somebody to talk to, being surrounded with that lazy incompetent desk crew. Maybe he was a visitor too. I would have quit if I got assigned there, worst district in the city and I have been in all of them.

Donated masks held hostage? Never negotiate with terrorists.
Not distributing the necessary PPE to the officers out in public is tantamount to withholding necessary defensive weapons like firearms/ammo and protective gear like vests. Go get the damn things and pass them out.
Once they're passed out, have everyone who got one of them reach out to the guy and say "Thank you for the kind donation!" do that in the most public manner possible. Make it impossible for the hostage takers to complain about it. Fuck, let them take the credit if they want for distributing them, but at least you'll have some manner of protection against a non-discriminating virus.

God Help us if you're on the CPD. Most officers on this job are smart enough to realize that the ONLY way we make it through this is by taking care of each other and making sure we ALL make it through the night. Going to a man with a gun call and getting out of your car is never in your best interest, but if a lot of us go and get out we ALL have a better chance of a good outcome. I can tell you're concerned about someone's safety. We understand. We all have families that care and everyone wants this over. We still have a job to do and it's not done right if it's not done safely.
No offense to my brothers and sisters in 003, but units, districts, watches, etc. all over the city are short manpower ‘cause of this thing going around - legit sick and/or otherwise.
Granted, some are suffering worse than others. Yes, it sucks. But it’s temporary - people go out on the medical; people come back into work.
Yes, that cycle of personnel in/out the door can be interrupted provided some preventive measures are thrown into the mix, but c’mon, anyone really expect to see a timely introduction of those measures?
In the final analysis: not one of us can ever depend on our employer to properly supply and outfit us with those items necessary to safely and effectively do our work. It can’t be done routinely, so how would it ever be done in a rushed, panicked response.
003 USED to have really good bosses.
Back in the 80's, people would be threatened with "being sent to 002." We used to say, "let everyone think 002 is the worst place in the city. Don't let them know you're terrified of going to 003."

This work continues, and today we are announcing the following new steps to keep our essential workers safe at work:
Starting today, we will be distributing cloth face masks to all workers who continue to come in, and will be providing you with guidance and training on how and when to wear them. While wearing the masks is voluntary, we will encourage our workers to wear them in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
This week, the City will roll out a Social Distancing Plan that describes how departments should enforce distancing and require each department to identify a COVID Safety Officer to ensure social distancing measures are followed. Safety Officers will work with offices, facilities, and field crews to identify any situations where social distancing cannot be followed and provide alternative protective measures that may be taken in lieu of social distancing.
This week, the City will establish a process whereby City employees who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 but who cannot safely isolate themselves at home while they recover can gain access to the Hotel Julian – one of the City’s quarantine and isolation hotels. This benefit will permit City employees to safely recover and return as quickly as possible to their families and workforce without endangering their families or others with whom they live.
In addition to these new steps, we will continue to develop new ways to keep workplaces safer, from enhanced cleaning of workspaces after COVID cases are identified, to continued timely notifications when someone falls ill, and more. I am committed to doing whatever I can to keep you safe at work while we fight this virus and keep the city moving forward – together.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise for those of us that work in 003. The new crew of caps that the commander brought in alienated themselves from the rest of the watch immediately. No hellos, no nothing. But regardless, 3rd watch has been getting crapped on for the past year, march 2019, we were told no more travel times and due to the consent decree we had to stay the full tour of duty, while every district had early ducts till they implemented swiping. Combine that with only having enough manpower to fill beat cars most days. The lack of rapids or extra cars has been killing the morale of beat cars that are hit with call after call. God help 003.
Why is Eddie’s boy Deputy Chief Elgin Holt still here? He has no ability to Command, Lead or Command any type of respect. Area South is in shambles because of him. 003 use to be under him before the restructuring and you see where that got us.
Eve should have never had Commander in front of her name and all of the bosses know it. After one conversation with her Superintendent Brown, you will know to. I ask you to interview some of these people on your own. No set questions, just have a talk with them. Fat Eddie promoted everyone connected to him or Rahnel and never based on who is qualified. Look at Sanchez. Commander to Chief. Riccio never tried to help guide him as long as his people got promoted and got to go where he wanted them. Barb West is the evil and sneaky brains behind the scenes working everyone and then hiding her hand. She is methodical. Be careful. Fred Waller has too much baggage. One of the earliest lessons taught from a salty Area RBT desk was when I made a notification for a jewelry shop robbery with a $20,000 loss. Det wanted an inventory, invoices and ledgers had to match the amount and types of proceeds taken.

I currently work on 2nd watch and I have to admit that Lt. Paz has been pretty decent and treats us like adults. He’s been buying supplies from different places and providing our watch and the rest of the watches masks, gloves, sanitizer wipes and other shit way before the city even gave us anything they were suppose to give us. I guess some of the other Lt.’s kicked in loot for their watches too I’m hearing.
He never asked any PO for one red cent and looks out for our best interest. He’s a good Christian man with a big heart and doesn’t care what color or gender we are. Ya’ll hating can keep on hating cuz we know the real deal! Thank you Lieu for taking the time to explain shit to us and making sure that exposures were done when others refused to do them.
The generous mask and medical supply donor Willie Wilson says his company suppliers have millions of masks available yet Angry Toad Larri Lightloafer & JB PoopiePants refused to negotiate a sale flat out. Spoken like a true stroke! I'm sure you did something other than be a dickhead to be treated as you claim you were.
Boy, the same negative poster must really be jealous of Lt. FP to take the time to make up stuff. I sit in his roll call everyday and have never seen him wear a mask neither thruout the day nor coming or leaving the station. Not to mention we have no other masks other than the cheap surgical ones that we just got by the way. He has however provided the watch with supplies everyday which most he bought and paid for out his pocket. He’s a good boss who cares about us and I would work for him anywhere. Can’t say the same for the rest of the bosses in 003. 1st watch has good Lt’s too though.
As for Elgin Holt, I’ve never worked for him but he’s always been a gentlemen with me and heard nothing but good things. I do know his brother Ron, who’s son got murdered some years back. He too was a good boss.
003 has a pregnant ppo at the desk and another pregnant female that can't answer phones. While others that don't look like them are sent to callback.

I currently work on 2nd watch and I have to admit that Lt. Paz has been pretty decent and treats us like adults. He’s been buying supplies from different places and providing our watch and the rest of the watches masks, gloves, sanitizer wipes and other shit way before the city even gave us anything they were suppose to give us. I guess some of the other Lt.’s kicked in loot for their watches too I’m hearing.
He never asked any PO for one red cent and looks out for our best interest. He’s a good Christian man with a big heart and doesn’t care what color or gender we are. Ya’ll hating can keep on hating cuz we know the real deal! Thank you Lieu for taking the time to explain shit to us and making sure that exposures were done when others refused to do them.

Haha. What a joke. Yeah okay boss. Dozens of posts on here talking about how shitty the bosses are and always have been. Then all the sudden, your one post pops up preaching about “how fair fatty is” and “how all the lts pitches in for ppe.” Well in that case 003 shouldn’t have any positives, but yet they have the most in the city. So either you’re a fucking liar or stats are wrong.

Had to work there for a gang enforcement detail a while back from the north side. The desk crew on midnights were unbelievably rude, lazy and condescending to us. We came in with prisoners and asked for arrest reports & complaints when one of the desk queens said, Excuse me I am serving someone now you have to wait! And she was working at postal speed. We said just tell us where they are and we will get them. She said, Don’t you dare come behind this desk. And do you think the rest of them could have helped us, no they made themselves unavailable. When we were finished and leaving we walked past the W/Cs office, a voice hollers out, Hey you guys come in here. He was a Lt. and was amazed that we got sent down there all the way from the north side. We chatted for about 20 minutes. He seemed glad to have somebody to talk to, being surrounded with that lazy incompetent desk crew. Maybe he was a visitor too. I would have quit if I got assigned there, worst district in the city and I have been in all of them.

Nope, I'll stand with the first poster on this one. I work citywide and if the desk crews think you're there to lock up their people, expect to be treated like the enemy.
As for Elgin Holt, I’ve never worked for him but he’s always been a gentlemen with me and heard nothing but good things. I do know his brother Ron, who’s son got murdered some years back. He too was a good boss.

Oh right.... because it’s hard to believe the district that nobody wants to be in, where 12-13 years ago they did reverse seniority to fill it for manpower for a period of time, would have a lazy rude incompetent desk crew. That’s really shocking. I can picture the desk crew looks like now. Especially on the south side, where some copper especially in shit district seem to identify with the “community” instead of other police.
3 is a shit hole of a district to work in-similar to 11,7, 6, 5 etc. However, the backup I receive from my fellow officers is phenomenal!
Reach out to PO Fernando Flores from FOP. If your district hasn’t received any, he is helping to distribute face shields that you can roll up and put into your vest. Reusable, can be cleaned over and over with bleach
How many caps officers in 3 , when I was assigned to 3 , they were over staffed . Well they never worked 8 hours
It's hard to tell you how many, they don't swipe in or out. There's a commander's married special, 1 in CAPS and 1 in the front office.
