FOP Vote Counting Begins

From what we've heard, this is a hand count and will likely take all of today and could stretch into a second day, maybe even a third. Old-timers tell us that in previous years, it usually took forty-eight hours from start to finish. We don't know if that was one count or two, but with the automated counting of recent years, results were tabulated twice. That would be unwieldy with a hand-count.

We'll update as soon as we're able, depending on computer access and taking into account we don't post on-duty.

UPDATE: Here's some media coverage.

Machine counting issue personnel from some fly by night firm FOP paid 100 K to. Wish I could file suit to all the dues I paid to these slugs for 34 years ! Did zero for most members and they ate like hogs.
I could count 5 K ballots by hand in 3 hours. Bit there are probadly 2 K of blue shirts that voted.
Next year, they can kma for the $40.00 paid from pension check. Keep their $250.00 death benefit that never changed in 35 years.
Get a real union like NYPD has current ones. The president from that org, PBA at least has real people helping their members.

I didn't vote for Kevin on the first vote but did on the runoff. We don't need another big mouth like Shields. It didn't work than and wont work now. Don't vote for someone who wants to fuck the city over vote for someone who wants to help the membership. Haven't heard that person run yet but hopefully someday. We need real leadership, not some nut like JC and Kevin isn't much better just the better choice of the shit hand we were dealt.

Daunting task

pick up envelopes
put envelopes in alphabetical order
while reading name on envelope verify person is a FULL paying DUES member
open envelope 1
look at ONLY 2 NAMES WITH TO CIRCLES
record name with actual circle
2 nd person verify circle
3 person record count.

So many BOARD members getting paid but when it is time to work everybody scared of the corona. Great job guys we are DOOMED on contract

OT, they started looking for volunteers for Summer Mobile, REMEMBER the assignment is by SENIORITY.
That’s means if they don’t get enough volunteers the detail gets assigned members by REVERSE SENIORITY.
So listen good, in the past they would not assign Detectives working Homicide because the reasoning was they
needed them to work murders. So they would detail Detectives with more seniority to Summer Mobile than the
Detectives working Homicide. Finally people got tired of this violation of the contract and filed an grievance and they
stopped this practice. Since they have opened Areas Four and Five up again don’t let them start this shit up again.
Homicide is basically the Tact Team in the D Unit, no Detective with seniority wants to work it so it’s filled by reverse
seniority with baby dics with 10-15 years. SO REMEMBER IF YOU GET ASSIGNED TO SUMMER MOBILE AND
A BABY DIC WORKING HOMICIDE DIDN'T, FILE A GRIEVANCE ASAP!

Just my opinion but if Graham does win it will be more of that great and proactive leadership you have seen in the past and throughout this pandemic. Which means the FOP will remain a neutered, toothless Chihuahua. Look at the mouth from the NYPD unions compared to what CPD gets. At least they talk right up and speak the truth even have turned their backs on the mayor, not hide and do nothing. I mean what have the FOP done to help protect officers during this China Virus? Nothing at all really. The leadership is as well trained as Moondawg Brown. Graham had his chance.

If they have not reached out to you then that is considered good news. The hospitals are doing a lot of tests per day and they are only reaching out to people who are positive or unusual test results. Those who are good don't get a phone call or email saying you are fine.

If you still want to know then call the hospital directly. I got my test done on site in my station from Roseland Hospital and they never reached out to me. So I called them and they said I was negative and the gentleman explained that they won't reach out to people if they are negative.

Did anyone see the message where the Department is "closing" the JISC on several days for 6 hours because the Department will not pay a Sergeant overtime to Supervise. They are not "closing" the JISC, they are just leaving all the Officers un-supervised and directing the process to the AREAS in violation of General Orders. Let alone the violation of the Consent Decree where there is no supervisor on site for the Officers and Detectives assigned to the JISC.

Gotta show the new guy who is boss or got to keep the old guy in his place. A big to do over nothing. No contract, no PS's and absolutely NO RESPECT. The more it changes the more it stays the same.

I can’t say that I totally disagree with you, but they need to start with motor maintenance, streets and sanitation and the other countless overloaded jobs in this city. Truck drivers driving to a site and sitting there all day while everyone else works? Those days are over, time to get with the times and carry your weight. I’m not saying that I want people laid off, but maybe it’s time to find a way around this through retirements and buyouts. I couldn’t imagine driving to a call and telling my partner, go handle it and if you need anything call other officers that aren’t driving to help you out.

Accounting firm contracted to do it not deemed “essential” by Illinois so their employees are not allowed to work from anywhere but home. Told FOP they would do it when Governor gave the back to work order. FOP Board asked State FOP Lodge what they should do and State FOP said the votes must be counted per by laws of the Lodge charter. State FOP is sending a team to conduct the hand count. Both candidates can have someone there to watch the count.

Be are up what you wish for. If the 55 and out happens it will drain your pension fund even faster. That plus the city will use the China Virus budget problems to NOT hire any replacements for the retiring officers which will further drain your pension fund with fewer contributions from working officers. There will also be a lot of taxpayers exiting the city this year especially if they pass the wealth tax that Fatso so desperately needs. Those high earners can live almost anywhere they choose. Doom and gloom no just simple logic and common sense. Think about reactions to every action on all levels. People went as stupid as the politicians would believe. Your job right now is to wow a viable plan B for when the city fails completely, it is not an if the city fails it is a when the city fails. The point of no return has just been passed. Sell your home now and rent something if you have to stay. Property values are reasonably good is when the next round of tax increases hits that will begin to change as the exit begins. The “white flight” of the 60s will change the demographics of the few good areas left. Been there done that watched my home area, Austin, go from safe, to hell, in about three years. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best but’s overall be prepared.

“You big dummy! That “baby dic” might just have a furlough somewhere in between 6A-8B which does not allow said “baby dic” to volunteer, be assigned and work summer mobile. Now stop being a dic baby, and enjoy your 90 day detail.

You got nothing kid!“

Haha I was thinking the same thing to that dick head whining about summer mobile. Sometime you got to read the fine print, and by fine print, I mean the main body of the order.

Wrong dummy. FOP tendered that proposal during negotiations. City didn’t counter. City cant “say it will remain 55” absolutely. Arbitrator will decide. Hopefully the PBPA’s arbitrator finds in their favor for a very similarly worded proposal regarding healthcare percentages for leaving prior to 55. Will surely set precedent. They should know by end of June.

Doesn’t set precedent. It’s one arbitrators decision, not a court of law.

Simple explanation from an article on arbitrators setting precedent

Perhaps the most far-reaching potential consequence emerges from the belief that arbitrators neither follow nor create precedent. According to common wisdom, arbitrators' decisions are fundamentally ad hoc-untethered from the rules and standards applied to resolve past disputes

There once was a Superintendent named Brown
Who came to Chicago from out of town
He had a Political Urge
To do something called a SURGE
And ended up looking like a Texas Rodeo Clown

When will he learn
Promotions are something

One of the big reasons that graham lost was the big fuck you he and Donahue did to Danny O’Toole, supporting martwick. If they election was held off and FOP supporting O’Toole he would have won. He ended up with around 48% of the vote.???

I think saying both candidates were well qualified helped O'Toole. It put a fire in the belly of a lot of coppers. Cantanzara team went out and worked hard for O'Toole. O'Toole never had the money or organization to win the race. NOT having the endorsement helped on both accounts.

Had O’Toole won he was 6-8 years away from being in position to help us. But we have to start somewhere. But in the end it wasn’t close. Danny only got 40.48% of the vote. Martwick got 59.52%. Donahue in the long run didn't keep O'Toole from being elected. He kept Graham from being elected. But Graham chairs the political action committee. The vote was 5-5. Graham refused to break the tie as the committee chairman. Graham beat himself.

All of the above results are right/wrong depending on which website you look up. I found ALL of the above results somewhere on the internet. And all of the above results are on government websites. The web is full of a lot of bull. The below site is the only one that counts:

Illinois State Board of Elections
https://www.elections.il.gov/electionoperations/votetotalsearch.aspx

Martwick got 54.44% O’Toole got 45.56%. Martwick won by just under 3000 votes. It wasn’t that close but was a great first time campaign by a new candidate.

The 52% Martwick and 47% O'Toole are Chicago votes.

The 59% Martwick and 40% O'Toole are Suburban Cook County votes.

Martwick's State Senate District is city and suburban. 😑
