An interesting admission at Fatass's press conference yesterday:
- Per jb at his daily re-education briefing today, he is not the one making decisions regarding Illinois's economic shut down during the virus crisis. He said it's the doctors and epidemiologists making that decision. I didn't think that was how it was supposed to work.
It's not how any of this is supposed to work. The voters didn't elect bureaucrats to run Illinois - they elected politicians. And if the politicians are surrendering their power to un-elected bureaucrats, then we have a problem. A very big problem actually. Who is actually running the show if the elected have surrendered the decision-making powers granted to them by the consent of the governed?
We would opine that what exists at the moment is a quasi-legal state of anarchy - no one is at the wheel of a state careening out of control - and ripe for a charasmatic Strongman to take over. Anyone seen Blago lately? He might have a chance.

What’s his leader, Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House doing? She has not reconvened the House in order to stall the process of getting out more stimulus money to Americans. There are now 30 million Americans who can't go back to work. Instead of getting getting people working again she is pushing to give Americans a guaranteed basic income including illegal aliens. She wants to pay people not to work to get them on the government dole. Kind of sounds like the Communist State.
And why would she do that? If you have no job anymore you are going to have to rely on the government to take care of you. Hence, more control of the masses. He needs to be held accountable. Ditto for Illinois Speaker Michael Madigan who has refused to convene the legislature for nearly two months.

The medical community in this country lives in an environment of zero tolerance for mistakes and goes to extraordinary lengths to preserve everyone's life no matter, lawsuits have driven this home. The reality of this pandemic is that the virus will continue to kill people, it is not going away no matter what we do.Any vaccine is months away and certainly will not be 100% effective. Putting everyone in lockdown will postpone their contact with it. The people most at risk are unfortunately a little closer to the door than most of us. The tradeoff between national medical health for those at greatest risk and national economic health has to be made and all we are getting is political warfare but then what can you expect from an Illinois politician. Our leadership hides behind medical experts for political reasons
If JB had any sense, he would know that in Illinois doctors will not take any chances. They go beyond conservative, they get in defensive mode. After being beat up by litigation for decades, they will not take any stand that even considers a risk.
Life has risks, but if you put everything in life though the eye of a strict doctor with unlimited power even JB would be forced to go to the health club and get on the treadmill, eat salad all day or risk being without any doctor, banned from elective surgery and fined for his obesity. He would be a drag on community based medicine.
So if you put an Illinois doctor in charge, fear of being dragged into court for malpractice will run the show.

Absolutely. We as police officers swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I'm retired now. That oath doesn't end and become void when we retire.

I tried looking at Illinois Dept of Health for annual death numbers, it stops at 2018 so difficult to do a real comparison; however from the CDC & also macrotrends.net & worldpopulationreview.com have annual US death rate at around 8 + for every 1000 with an annual growth pretty steady at 1% growth give or take a few for the past decade. I think it’s interesting to note that the actual US death rate has steadily climbed since ACA was signed after decades where death rates were in negative growth.
