Speaking of uniform allowance, I hope that gets raised on this new contract that we’re not getting any time soon.

Sadly, without all the donations that were generously given to the Chicago police officers, we would have one half of the equipment and supplies we currently have... which is still not enough.

They would actually save themselves a ton of money by issuing uniforms themselves instead of a uniform check. I guarantee there's no one on this job who spends 1k in uniform equipment every year. And new tires for your truck don't qualify as uniform equipment.
The mayors, past and present, have never liked that contractual right as well as other contractual rights that ultimately cost a dent in mayoral budgets. Duty availability, medical, etc to name a few. Liberals are so into workers’ rights until those rights impinge on their liberal social justice budget. Never any room for the police. The police are evil, the lightening rod to galvanize the unwashed masses. The police take monies for wages and law suits, the same law suits that the liberals advance through their social justice agenda. Why else do we go years without a contract, while other city employees are given double digit wage increases; yet the police are always given crumbs, with the excuse that there is no money left or the city is broke. Brown and Lightfoot are actual kindred spirits of the progressive agenda, so neither will be fighting for our souls. Lightfoot is down in real revenue and projected revenues, so look for her to chip away at our contractual economic rights with the smiling approval of Brown.

Sad to say this but I dont see too many guys and girls drssed to standards EVER, the excuse is Hey I work in the ghetto, etc. Well how about pride, if you gain 15 pounds don't try to fit in the same pants or shirts, especially the ladies, whose excuse is I'm sitting in this car all day long. Last year I talked to a kid who just came on the job. With all the equipment they are forced to buy, plus the uniforms, he is in the hole for about 5 or 6 years with the allowance.
The bosses have also been telling us this at “The Surge.” Lightfoot hates us and knows she has provided us nothing to protect us and this is her hateful response to our plight. First she concocts an illegal consent decree, then we get hit with a pandemic that she forces us to go against both the decree AND the Constitution all the while with no protective gear. That is evil.

With that same thought, why is it that HOSPITALS, have no reserve of PPE and MASKS which are essential for daily operations? MAYBE ITS THE CIVILIANS WHO OVERSEE THE JOSPITALS AND ARE POLITICAL? Really? How much money we spent in the academy, how much money we spent on gas for example those who travel across the city to get to the district when at the same time you have people working in the same district. And how about swat and all the specialized units, they have to buy their own shit. Just because you are behind the front desk or in the back office hiding with the same sweater since 1990 and live in the same district, good for you that you don’t have to spend all that money. How about you donate it to the uth, Obama’s legacy, maybe they will stop shooting each other like there is no tomorrow. But for now let us take that money and buy proper equipment and you continue farting in that chair wearing your nasty sweater. Capisci?
After the initial cost in the academy there isn't one person that spends their whole uniform allowance on uniforms each year. And now with free vests the amount spent is even less. Take a look around at roll call at holes in pants and shirt shoes falling apart 25 year old vests dirty vest covers. That's the reason they will mess with the uniform allowance.

lol I had to drop nearly $5k just to be hired by another agency three months after finishing the academy. Fuck this place. I’m in a much happier place now.

It's always been taxed, before you just paid it at the end of the year, now they take out taxes just like a normal check. You must be one of those guys who thinks they tax you more on a OT check than a regular check.
