Here’s something I was pondering....if we are to believe what we are told about how deadly coronavirus is, then one population in this country that should be absolutely devastated by now is the Amish community. They generally don’t believe in vaccinations and don’t take modern medicines (aspirin, allergy meds, etc.).
They are isolated, but before the shutdowns, stores like those in Shipshewana, Indiana are always PACKED with non-Amish shoppers. So far in this entire country a total of ONE Amish man has died-and he was an 80 year old with pre-existing conditions in Indiana.
Either the Amish have super-immune systems, or we are being lied to about the deadliness of coronavirus. I HATE sounding like a conspiracy theorist, but I am wondering if there is some ulterior motive behind classifying cause of death as coronavirus, even when there are other reasons the person died.

The problem there is the same here. They simply don’t have enough hospital beds to take care of large numbers of people contracting the disease. With a 15% hospitalization rate, it won’t take much for much of Oregon to run out of hospital beds if the infection continues to spread. The decommissioning of McCormick place is a very strange move considering it represents the city’s ability to handle more cases. We’re at 50% capacity right now, but that’s why we won’t open up anytime soon - they apparently want to get the infection rate so low that it can be handled with existing hospital capacity and not need to use sites like McCormick.
We can plan to be in lockdown until july at this rate!

FWIW, I was told by my mother-in-law, who is a nurse, that her hospital, NW Community, gets money from the state if the death is classified as coronavirus.
