Well, there is actually a practical reason why the sign language interpreter cannot wear a face mask and it’s not an oversight.
People who communicate in sign language use their hands to communicate words, however, as we all know, facial expression and the emotional tone of words add to the message being sent across.
Because of this, sign language uses both the hand ‘gestures’, movement of the lips as well as facial expressions to be able to send the correct message.
As we all know, the face mask covers the mouth and parts of the face, hence, the people being communicated to through sign language will be unable to see the movement of the lips and the accurate facial expression.
When that happens – the message would be lost.
So, as long as they are interpreting, they cannot wear the face masks, they can absolutely wear the mask when they are done.
Also at most 60,000 people die from the flu annually in the United States.
There are already 75,000+ dead from this virus SARS-CoV-2, with 150,000 estimated to die by August 2020.
So this is not the "normal flu" as you call it.
Even the President knows now this is not the "normal flu", which is what he said back in Februaty 2020.

I am a democrat and I agree with you.
We gotta get back out there so we can pay our bills and taxes.
But first we need access to N95 / N100 masks & safety vented goggles.
Especially those of us who are immunocomprmised, example, those of us who have cancer but still want to go work.

The Illinois Constitution requires that at least 20 state representatives and 10 state senators, equally balanced from each party in each chamber, sign a notice of intent to recall the governor before a petition can begin to be circulated. Call your representatives and demand that this governor be recalled.
