- To newly appointed Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown:
You apologized last week to aldermen on Chicago’s North and Northwest sides for pulling officers from their communities and sending them to the West Side to enforce “dispersal orders.”
The apology should have been to the West Side residents who witnessed the “surge” of officers chasing black folks through the streets, an image reminiscent of slave patrols in the 1700s.
Your surge left a Black man face down in the street, having a seizure, due to being tased by an officer for not sheltering in place. There was no news of this incident. Yet every West Side resident I spoke to knows what happened.
What you call “dispersal orders,” I call terrorism.
The reason there were no news reports of this is because it never happened. Do a search of TRR's during the time in question and there isn't a single one. Plus, the news doesn't usually waste time on simple Taser-ings. And again with the discredited trope about "slave patrols" when describing the police? How very 2010.

No mention of house parties? Cops being blamed for not giving fatherly advice to a wayward 26-year-old? The lies about sending domestic victims back into homes, residences without food or water, chasing down homeless? We count at least five outright lies in that one paragraph.

As for correcting these errors in these statements, that's why I am glad we have body cameras,car cameras, and video cameras around the city. If these events occured, where is the video? Also, don't citizen's always record the police when the police are out? So where is that footage?

The Police will be the bad guys. Surge; is the wrong approach to building partners with the community. We as the Police are seen as an invading force. This is not the Policing strategy I want to see as the Police or a Chicago resident. No person wants this except the Mayor and the Superintendent.

Yes, not only dim bulbs, but people with so much distrust and unhappiness within them selves that they want to believe anything that is bad about their lives. Very similar to what happened in Ferguson, MO. False rumors spread by people with ulterior motives or just plain liars and a few looking to make a mark by using lies and sensationalism
On the other hand, the writer points out that the superintendent is an absolute joke of a leader.
Not very promising for Mr. Brown. He's going to get shit from all sides. I give him less than 3 years before he's replaced.
I’m waiting for the apology to us north side TAX PAYING RESIDENTS who had our police officers stolen from our neighborhoods, putting us and our property at risk, in order to send more officers to monitor a community that doesn’t want or respect the police.

I haven't seen any articles on that as yet. But I wouldn't doubt it, that woman is as bad as fatboi and the Le Groot. I did read that Mayor deBlowfish was crying because 35 out of 40 arrests for not social distancing were black people. Of course he blames the police not the folks that do not do as they are asked to do. But why even be a part of this anyway. There is some legitimacy to some of what is being asserted.
In this day and age if someone was tased by a cop it is likely there would be video somewhere. But you never know. Could just be a rumor. Might be true. Might be sort of true. Who knows. Just because there is no record of it does not mean it never happened.
The reality is that the surge is seen by much of the local population as a bad thing. Short of locking some of these people up so they can't get out, it is all but impossible to get them to stay inside. In any case, there is some evidence that suggests staying in might be worse than being outside, if NYC statistics are to be believed.
The problem of quarantining people who are infected with those in the same family who are not infected just guarantees that more people will get infected. There needs to be some way to isolate the infected, not the uninfected.

LANSING — A police officer is not legally allowed to pull someone over for a traffic stop simply because they believe the driver is violating Michigan's stay at home order, according to a Michigan Attorney General memorandum.
Although Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's executive order mandates everyone except workers deemed essential stay at home, several exceptions apply. Anyone is allowed to go to the grocery store, engage in outdoor activities, pickup food from a restaurant and care for minors, elderly people or people with disabilities. The full list of exemptions can be found online.

I remember when I actually liked this job, did my job with pride. It is sad and I’m ashamed to say, I’ve been going thru the motions for awhile. I cannot wait to leave.
