Specifically, no more 05 cars?

In order to have more bodies answering calls and have a greater presence on the streets, to go with the disbanding of Narcotics, 05 cars are now a thing of the past along with "security" cars and stuff. Each beat car will be responsible for the parks on their beats.
All well and good. Many street level problems begin in parks, so this is just CAPS in action.
However, weren't 05 cars Federally Funded? Where is that money going or is the City returning a block grant to the Feds?

We need the park cars. The park cars help reduce crime.
Funny. All this talk of putting more officers on the street and disbanding special units and cars but I can drive for an hour or two and never see another squad car on routine patrol. Sometimes I drive across the border into 010 or 011 and still not see another squad car for another 15 minutes. The city gets the police department it deserves. The mayor and the residents wanted this anti-police and anti-law-and-order climate...now they can choke on it.

05 was a waste of a car. Totally useless.
Good! Nothing against the 05 car but is was a ghost payroll spot. However I think the 05 cars got lumped into all the fake made up cars like ghost cars listed as foot beats but never set foot outside. The 06 car on the watch is a shame too. Tons of waste.
It's not just park cars, traffic and foot posts are history as well.

I can remember the park car in a district where I was a gang sergeant. Their logs were impeccable when compared to the park logs in the parks, they always matched. The supervisors always knew where they were because they started at the same park and ended at the same park each day. Just like a railroad schedule. They never made arrests and had no idea who the bad guys were in the parks. But they were always on schedule!
Foot Car posts are gone as well as the traffic cars...no more 94, 95 or 96, they all must have regular beat numbers....like this is going to make any fucking difference! Another bright idea.
No more 06 either....perfectly good carhartt cargos all over the city will now go to waste

Anyone noticing how strange this department has been run lately. It definitely coincided with the invasion of the midget bad dresser. Another former "copa" hack who is going to fix those evil poleeceses.
Now get rid of the school cars. Make them a unit again and train them for accountability and stability throughout the school year. A unit that has run amuck with nepotism placement along with political placement of inepth Sgt. Supervision who seem to think they work for CPS at principals discretion. 200 + officers and 23 stupidvisors citywide.
Finally, all those “specialty and 06” cars were useless and never helped out. Can’t wait to see them handle domestics and car crashes!
Not your specialty cars the new vehicles and order are all marked police vehicles which will be going out citywide whenever they start coming in even the detective unit will be getting their vehicles that are not unmarked, which is a good idea to show more police on the street like they do in other states they will Designate the cars as Detective units with a large Detective decal on the front fenders, the same with the supervisors cars it will say supervisor on the front fenders!
more bodies on the streets we have enough of those courtesy of the people of color self cleaning oven. keep up the good work folks. with a major push ui can make tyis weekend a record setter. 20/60 is well wthin reach, steady aim with a good front site picture, squeeze don't yank the trigger. This is some serious bullshit. We need the 05 car to patrol the parks. We need the 06 cars to engage in aggressive patrol tactics and to gather intelligence.

I worked first watch most of my career. There is no reason to have a park car on 1st W because the parks are closed so no one goes in them. Kind of like no gun signs, no trespassing signs, etc.. everyone obeys those signs. Right? As for the “special” cars, you call those cars **01A,**01B, and so on. No one will be the wiser. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
If you are naive enough to believe that Mayor BugEyes will ever return any money to President The Donald, you are going to vote for Bad Touch Joe.

The funding for the parkcars came from the park district. Don’t know where they got the money or if they still fund them? They also hired a lot of off duty coppers to work their security department. They had a increase in their taxing budget over a few years, which means, private contractors and less security....
So I guess this means there's going to be more "desk" personnel to satisfy that early start for certain officers. You have districts like 024 and 016 where people are being taken care of so they have four officers and a Sgt on the desk and if need be lot security and possibly a foot post spot. I guess now they'll have 8 officers under desk personnel. And why wouldn't you have all those officers on the desk, I mean there's only a pandemic going on and people are just flooding the stations for reports (sarcasm) so it's only right.

I was on 05 when it started up in ‘94. We were told the car was paid for from money that came from the Chicago Park District. About $3mil/yr. that was 25 years ago. That money probably dried up decades ago. Great car though.

City wide that gives us an average of 3150 9161's answering calls for service.
There's around 8,000 sworn 9161's listed in clear.
Where's the 5,000 hiding at?

05 Cars are funded from the Park Districts budget. One car per District. If RuPaul's look-alike sticks with his agenda, he is going to cost the City a lot more than bloody bodies, it will be actual money. His budge will shrink, and the City's budget will drop when he tries to stop the Federally funded programs. As it is now, he and Groot hit the 1505 funds that Narcotics brought in from the Feds (DEA), and the reshuffling of the Detective Division threatens the Federal money drawn in from Federal task forces, and some OCD teams that work with the Feds. This is clearly people in over their heads, unable to think ahead and determin the consequences of their actions. Full steam ahead with nonsensical programs, missions and reshuffling, to hell with common sense and applicable experiance. Fools.

Officers should know how to process a DUI. Its a simple process no different than any other arrest. Coppers, young and old, will request help and then they just sit there as you complete their arrest for them. It’s amazing. Just a matter of time before they call you again.

It’s funny how people hate on narcotics. Are there people who don’t belong there YES!!!! But overall, just like any watch, tact or gang team you have do nothings or people who do the minimum. However, there are some great cops who put their lives on the line daily walking blocks buying dope and meeting with the unknown by jumping into random cars or shitbirds jumping into their covert vehicles. We are our worst enemies. People hate “1 baggers” but the people hating have no idea what narcotics does or should be doing. Trust me, everyone hates the bull shit west side buy busts. When you walk a block, you can’t tell the dope boy no your serve me not that hype. The unit as a whole and over all does or should be doing some sort of short or mid term investigations unless you are a long term team. The people who hate have no idea how but dope, write up a pen or know what that means. Write up A tracker for a vehicle , a COH or even a wire. If people really knew what the unit does or did I’ll overall people will stop hating.

I remember in the old 019th District in the mid 90,s the Park Car Officer worked until 2100 Hours each tour so he could go play Hockey at McFetridge .So of course being naive and new I had to inquire on who was responsible for closing the parks at 2300 Hours if the Park Car only worked until 2100 Hours?As I remember that same Officer that worked that car was really big on reminding everyone that it was a Chicago Park District Funded Car and had to be manned every tour.

Some districts renamed the foot beat cars but still have them working monday to friday and covering their foot post. Smoke and mirrors. Problem is 911 has a few city rats. They are recording what supervisors in which districts are helping to hide the annointed and reporting back to city hall. Don't get caught by Larry Lightloafer or you will find yourself joining the fallen, commuting across town for work.

They ought to bring back the 03 warrant cars on 2nd and 3rd watch. We used to go out and actually knock on doors looking for those wanted. Most other districts had old timers in those spots who just kept track of the paperwork or would call those with warrants and ask them to turn themselves in at the desk for processing. When it became nothing more than a paper shuffling spot in the district admin office they did away with it as the old timers retired. But for working coppers it was easy money, get a few quick heads and call it a day. My partner and I worked 0600-1400 and were usually gone by noon with 3-4 heads
Back in the day, I was the abandoned auto man. Somewhat dangerous assignment. When I needed help I called on the warrant officers for assistance.

I want to be the District Commanders Vice Man , each district had 6 plainclothes coppers
Back in the early 90s it was something like:
00-District Commander
01-Desk Sgt
02-Desk Officer
03-Warrant Officer
04-Abandon Auto Officer
05-Park Car
06-Incident Car
07-Neighborhood Relations Sgt
08- Crossing Guard Supervisor
09- Evidence Tech
Back in 93 the District AVOs were assigned to Detached Services and moved to Streets and San for awhile to process abandoned autos. They were given Streets and San Ford Explorers with CPD stars on the doors. Only lasted til 1995.
