- New York City’s health commissioner blew off an urgent NYPD request for 500,000 surgical masks as the coronavirus crisis mounted — telling a high-ranking police official that “I don’t give two rats’ a--es about your cops,” The Post has learned.
Dr. Oxiris Barbot made the heartless remark during a brief phone conversation in late March with NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan, sources familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Monahan asked Barbot for 500,000 masks but she said she could only provide 50,000, the sources said.
“I don’t give two rats’ a--es about your cops,” Barbot said, according to sources. “I need them for others.”
Remember, this was right when the "pandemic" was beginning and the cops on the front lines of the government response were being denied the necessary equipment to actually function in the unknown environment. There were hundreds of thousands of masks in a New York City government warehouse in New Jersey, but this "doctor" unilaterally decided (with del Blasio's blessing it appears) to deny cops even minimal protections.
This was kept under wraps for months for political reasons, so we can only assume it's in the news for other political reasons, but to keep someone like this in your administration - the mind boggles.

Wonder if she has a skill set? The health commissioner we have here in Illinois is clueless if you listen to her propaganda news conferences that are with the governor propaganda king you could easily pick a part what she says and you don’t even need to be educated but then again when you have a basic education like she has not hard it’s simple to dissect.
Having people like this in charge is like having a homeless person rise up and become an elected Democratic politician, but then again most of these politicians here are like a homeless person that has absolutely positively no business being in that position because their mind is a terrible thing to waste, how many of them are using that recreational marijuana that they pushed just like the dog pushers on the population? I suspect she was feeling pressured because her department was SUPPOSED to have a “stockpile” of PPE (and ventilators), which they had received state and federal money to purchase and keep in storage. When the feces finally hit the fan, she was in the embarrassing position of having to explain what that money had been spent on (clearly, NOT masks, gloves, gowns etc.).
I suppose, from her point of view, it is better to have people criticizing her choice of words than to have them asking more pointed questions about where the emergency preparedness funds went. I mean, we all know where the money went (hint: political pay-offs), but she doesn’t want to have to answer THAT question.
I still have not gotten a "good 3M N95 mask with front plastic filter" replacement that was used up 2 months ago. But I see homeless with brand new ones every day. I ask them where they got them and they say that people from human services hand new ones out everyday to the homeless subway riders. The city has the good masks but refuse to give new ones to the police. They keep giving the police flimsy ones that you can smell weed smoke through as you respond to the 7th mental/domestic/tenant dispute of the tour.
