Brass "Embarrassed"

So Fred Waller, who never met a "merit" promotion he couldn't accept, claims that he has never been "more embarrassed" than after viewing the Booby Rush footage.

• Waller didn't feel any shame at that deputy chief and his "driver" opening fire at a fleeing vehicle, in violation of half a dozen orders?
• He wasn't embarrassed by a fellow exempt stealing his dead mother's social security checks for twenty years?
• Perhaps he never heard of that circle of exempts who have been treating the Academy as their own personal harem, taking PPOs to that "no-tell motel" just north of HQ?
• There wasn't even the barest hint of regret at the lieutenant test cheating that saddled this Department with at least another decade of incompetence?
• And we guess that the previous superintendent getting his knob polished in a Department vehicle by someone looking to score one of those "merit" spots didn't even register on the embarrassment meter?

You certainly have a screwed up moral compass there Fred.

The rush to judgement wouldn't be complete without the First Deputy jumping in:

• First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio, a longtime Chicago cop, also called the officers’ conduct “absolutely indefensible.” At the same time the officers were popping popcorn and napping, Riccio said, he was standing shoulder to shoulder with colleagues downtown being pelted with rocks. “They didn’t just let down the community,” Riccio said. “They let down fellow officers.”

Again, they were ordered there. They fulfilled their assignment. That is what officers are supposed to do. They were even checked on by two sergeants AND a lieutenant. If they didn't belong in Booby's office, the white shirts would have removed them to a different post or utilized them where manpower was thin. They didn't, because it was early morning, the looting was over and the rioting was winding down as "protestors" headed home to rest up for the next night's festivities.

So you have the top three guys in the Department criticizing officers without even the simplest of investigations going on. If that doesn't scream "Groot political agenda" then we don't know what does.

UPDATE: We'd just like to say that we've been embarrassed - and with far better reasons - of the "leadership" of this Department for decades (SCC-Retired)
