Interesting Experiment

We can't see Groot approving it seeing as how she thrives on the community distrusting the police, but then again, there are connected contracts to hand out to connected construction companies:
  • As Chicago looks for new ways to fight a recent spike in crime, a South Side aldermen has suggested adding a so-called "cop house," or community-oriented policing home, on a block looking for stability.

    Ald. Anthony Beale said he has secured grant funds and corporate sponsors, who would buy a home and repurpose it into a community center where Chicago police would be stationed.

    "You have to be on the ground, building relationships, building trust with the people," Beale said. "So the people have a comfort level with the police department."
Rumors that this would be a sandbagged walls, topped with barbed wire, surrounded by an alligator filled moat and machine gun towers is (so far) unfounded.

But it sounds interesting in the moment. If the City Council progressives and their allies keep "othering" the police, Chicago is doomed.

Sounds kind of out of touch given how protesters/rioters/community folks feel about cops these days. Then you have a Black Lives Matter militant on Tuesday evening proudly boasted over a megaphone that he wanted to murder NYPD police officers. And others ambushing officers in Tampa. Put a couple woke social workers that feel privileged and a therapist or two in there instead. Maybe a gang specialist from a sissy university. See how that works out when they start funning. Or why not put that alderman down there 24/7. Let him really earn that bloated salary.

Maybe this is where the Social Worker SWAT squad could work from?

Maybe build a playground in the lot next door, with bullet proof fences around it. Because it isn't safe to play in your front yard or even your own child's second floor bedroom in some of those neighborhoods.

Lord knows something has to change.

Have you noticed that since they made pot legal all these political & community leaders are coming up with bizarre ideas. Will you have to share the chores (cutting the grass, washing windows, vacuuming, cooking, doing the dishes, etc.) with the community? Anything to piss away more taxpayer money and put the shake down arm on corporations to donate. Keep on toking!

Chicago is doomed no matter what, as well as the state! The city is broke, the state is broke yet the mayor and the governor are spending money they don't have on lots of shit we don't need! You cannot come out of the kind of debt that illinois is buried in if they don't stop spending, cut costs, reorganize statewide government to eliminate duplication, AND STOP THE MOTHER FUCKERS FROM CONTINUALLY STEALING AND RAISING TAXES! There are third world countries that are in better shape physically, financially & governmentally!
Maybe they could put a balance budget referendum on the ballot in November...Bet your ass you will never see that!

It’s a great idea essentially, f*ck being a sitting duck in the middle of the ghetto all night long though. We should be more like the firemen, we sit our asses in the station eating shit, napping, having a movie night etc... until a call comes out then we can respond accordingly. We can be even more like CFD and REFUSE to go to a call until our “qualified” community partners advise if we are needed or not. With 99% of the calls being bullshit I foresee us leaving the station once a night... for a coffee run.

And it's precisely what you fuckers have been saying needs to be "Defunded". So what is it? Cops or no cops? Pick one. Because a "Police House" with a fucking foosball table akin to a Frat house isn't going to be able to solve "Da Communities" problems, which are rooted in:

* Welfare dependency

* Drugs

* Single- or no-parent households

* Gangs

* Criminality glorified

Chicago Government is like Hollywood these days: they keep trotting out remakes of Old Movies. Something similar to this "Cop House" was tried in Uptown back in the 1970's, and run by a Sergeant named Joe Mackey. At the time that "Da Community" consisted primarily of recently arrived White Appalachian and Native Americans. The influx of Black Gangs that currently dominate Uptown were not there yet. This plan was part of an early concept of Community Policing, intending to create bonds, friendships and trust between Police and Community. This sort of program actually works well in Japan, with its homogeneous population. It is sheer fantasy to think it will work here, even if the officers assigned were of the same Race as the residents. Because Police, at some point must Police. And at that point, all of the back slapping,abrazos and ritual handshaking means nothing when it comes time to make an arrest. Blood relatives are not going to put their superficial relationship with police, over their biological bonds. It is Naive to think someone is going to surrender a relative who has committed a felony, to the police, because the police are their "Friends" or new "Play Cousin"; please, Get Real. Baby "G"

Me thinks Chicago is doomed anyway. The downward trend is accelerating. What Detroit took 40 years will take Chicago maybe 15 years. And 19.5 took 8 and there is 1 with Lightloafers. Six years or less.
There will be communities that survive just like surrounding areas of metro Detroit. But property values within 50 miles of the metro center will plunge.

Our brilliant Commanders set up a base in the most violent part of Baghdad in a neighborhood with Shias and Sunnis fighting it out between each other non-stop. They moved in a 500 man Kurdish Commando Force, they are absolute killers and have hated Shias and Sunnis since birth. The entire neighborhood shot Aks at us all day. We had a shot spotter, it would just go ding, ding, ding, ding, ding until we turned it off. There was no way to fight back. They were in every building, every high rise. They would open a window, empty a mag at us, then go about their day. We were hit with seven to eleven accurate mortar rounds every single morning. We had at least one car bomb a week.
We had all the toys. We had the first Minigun mounted on a Humvee in the country, we could get tank support, gunship support, and artillery/mortar support. We had "kill or capture" orders, the President said, "the gloves are off". We could be as brutal as we wanted to be, we were fully supported for pure, unbridled brutality if we wanted. Not many guys were up for it. It doesn't work. Unless you plan to kill everyone, you will lose against the population if they hate you.

F. The community will NEVER give up their criminals, because they
are all OF the community.....sons, brothers, uncles, baby-daddies, etc
and the community partakes lavishly of the drug proceeds over which
the violence is the means.......
Did ANY items get returned to ANY store after all the looting by ANY parent

In defense of alderman Beale whom I have met on several occasions and respect, the point he makes is that block by block the city needs places that model stability. These places used to be called family homes where two parents raised children to work, hard act civil and obey the law. Sadly, the feral class has driven out the middle class and fire zones will only return to neighborhoods when bad examples are outnumbered by good examples.

Boner Beale forgot there’s that CTU Get Polices Out of CPS thing going around.
Does Beale have a few unoccupied properties in his portfolio in need of occupancy that pays more than Sect-8 ?

A brilliant idea from a brilliant AlderSpooge.
A community center where kid can go.
Man, if only the Park District, the YMCA, B.U.I.L.D., Scouts only thought of this first.

Ha ha ha THAT'S what you have to do, police! You have to BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. As in, what, you set up a community house where the police sit and wait to be drive-by'd, while all the neighborhood gang bangers and drug dealers pop in for tea and crumpets? This shit would actually be funny, if it wasn't so deranged. Guess what? There already IS a police community house. It's called a POLICE STATION. You can come in the front door or the back door, your choice.

Earth-to-politicians: they call them "criminals" for a reason. All the money and good intentions in the world don't cause criminals to suddenly straighten out their lives. You can put them in jail where they belong and call it "racial injustice", or you can set them free and wish for pixies and unicorns as the babies receive lead in the back seat of mama's car. They're STILL criminals, and they're STILL going to do what nature intended.

Start worrying a little more about the people who AREN'T criminals and thugs, and stop telling us about how society has "failed" the scumbags. There are no do-overs here. If you're a scumbag, you need to be walled off from the rest of us for a GOOD LONG TIME, where you can THINK about your actions. Maybe someday you'll figure out the error of your ways. But at least in the meantime, it's one less piece of garbage around, ruining everyone else's lives.

And who do you think apprentice scumbags learn their trade from? That's right...the revolving door of the Illinois justice system has become nothing but a trade school for human trash. Nice job.

Elgin has been doing this for like 30 years. It works really well. The officer living there, handles community issues with the neighborhood and doesn't go on patrol. They are usually there for 3 year periods. Elgin has seen dramatic drops in gang violence since they started this. However, I doubt it'll happen in Chicago because it'd cost a lot of money to buy/renovate these homes and train up the officers on what to do. They want to give us less money not more.
