So Groot cancelled the Billiken Parade, after delaying and delaying the decision, hoping for some sort of reprieve from Governor Pitzker. It wasn't to be.
So now, the question becomes, does Billiken go on anyway, kind of like the Pride Parade went on anyway, without permits, street closures or approval from City Hall, into the wee hours:

- There was no Pride Parade in Chicago this year. Thanks, COVID-19. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a party in Boystown. Police took a hands-off approach with the hours-long pop-up festival, doing little more than block streets so people didn’t get run over.
A few pictures of the party over at the CWB blog, which ended around four in the morning. Any bets if the Billiken parade units end up partying the night away at the parks without Groot approval?

I wonder if there will still be several “found” toddlers that will automatically show up at the exact location the lost children tent usually stands.
It’s quite the little secret the city and media hide from the public every year. I remember one year an infant was dropped off as a found child. No one claimed the baby at the after party so it was sent to DCFS. Teenage mamma didn’t claim the child for 3 days. Gotta get that partying in before taking on the role as a “mother” again.
You know they will party and that it will go wrong and then the racist Police will be responsible for everything that goes wrong. Not the people that pull the trigger, not the parents? of the future brain surgeon that should be home in bed. Not the drug dealer or the race hustlers or the so called priest or the turn em loose legal system in Chicago and crook county.

isn't Budd Billiken about going back to school? no one is going back to school anyway, CPS teachers want another year with full pay and benefits without working. And like typical Chicago public school fashion, they will just hand out degrees for the next year without the students actually attending. ie. like the drive thru gradutation ceremonies throughout chicago, when the kids didn't even attend half the year. Welcome to Chicago! Where the dumber get dumber. Yet, for next 100 years, keep voting democrats. Great job!

Long segment with video of Hispanic kids playing soccer In a grassy field and how young people are spreading the virus now. I saw photos of a maskless Groot bunched with other maskless pride goers but it was unclear whether this was an old stock photo or from the recent festivities. I suspect an old photo as she actually tried to look happy.

The Mayor will give ‘wink-wink’ approval to the community to have their own street parades, concerts, picnic in the parks, stay up to all hours to celebrate the weekend. Celebrate with ‘dignity’ while OT costs go through the roof that Saturday. She’ll also strong-arm businesses ravaged by her looters to pony up and hand out back to school backpacks filled with freebies to the children’s accustomed to getting free school supplies at this parade.
But what about "Taste of Polonia" scheduled for Labor Day weekend this year? It still is scheduled to go on. Last year she was on stage dancing the polka with Keith Stras.
The parade will happen. Bet on it. Groot is no match for the Billikens.
It better happen, I’m not getting stuck with all these “Groot” tee shirts I had made up.

You don't get it from unauthorized parades, festivals or block parties. You get it from beaches, forest preserves, and work.
When the Covid cases start spiking in Crook County, betcha' they blame the 4th of July celebrations and "not" the Pride gatherings or the Billiken parade.
Hey, who knows. Maybe the unofficial Gay Parade and the Tribute to a fictional character will serve as a way to cull the herd. But, of course, either someone from the gay and/or gay-black community will sue after contracting said virus because the city didn't prevent them from celebrating even though the city laid out guidelines they chose not to follow. Of course, that makes perfect sense. Shit, even Keesing Bandit knew better and chose to stay in a social distancing parameter while serving his famous white wine spritzers in his pretty loft. Driving through Evanston, you can see a "BLACK LIVES MATTER" banner above the main entrance to Chute Middle School on Oakton Street.
