Never Chase Policy
- Someone stole a van with a passenger still inside Saturday after fleeing a crash in the Loop.
Officers saw a 2008 Pontiac sedan run a red light and hit another vehicle at 12:34 a.m. in the 100 block of North Wacker Drive, according to Chicago police. No injuries were reported in the crash.
Four males got out of the Pontiac and ran away, police said. One of them ran to the 100 block of East Wacker, where he got into a 2014 Kia van that was running with a 20-year-old woman in the back seat.
He drove off, eventually leaving the woman at a gas station in the 5900 block of South Ashland Avenue in West Englewood, according to police. She was not hurt.
"not hurt" But forcibly removed from one location to another against her will. That's kidnapping - a forcible felony. And a termination order was given.
We've heard termination orders given for hot cars, accidents and warrants, as they should be.
We've also heard termination orders given for UUWs, robberies and aggravated batteries, which looking back, were questionable, but probably the correct calls.
We've also heard termination orders given for Shots Fired at the Police and at least three murderers. Once upon a time, we would have questioned these, but nowadays, you take your own chances because they will crucify you if it goes south.
And now we have this kidnapping.
You were all over twenty-one when you hired on, so you make your own call. We're just letting citizens know, if you or your loved ones are kidnapped, raped, robbed, shot or murdered, the police won't be allowed pursue.

Kidnapping? Chase all day everyday. If it was your wife/husband or son/daughter who was taken and now with shithead would you want the police to stop chasing?? No. If you say yes then your an absolute liar. Good work officers, if you CAN chase for something follow the pursuit order and guidelines to a T and don’t deviate. Think about what you are doing and be able to explain you acted the way you acted. You can still do this job, you just need half a brain and self control.
Everytime I was/am thinking about getting a nice ride I'm reminded of this type of shit. That's why I keep pushing this shit ass Honda hahaha thugs look and laugh even when I leave it running with the keys in it

Politicians made it where it is a bad thing to chase. If it wasn’t enough for vehicles, they want to end foot pursuits too. Blame the media and politicians. At one time Police would shoot at fleeing vehicles. Even allowed to shoot out tires. Once upon a time warrants would be issued Dead or Alive. Now the Police are made out to be Punks with badges. By the same group. They celebrate the criminals and their prison ink. Why not get rid of the drug and alcohol testing and hire thugs. Everyone would be much happier. Old man Daley said after the riots how dare anyone talk bad about the Police, they are family man. How times have changed. Our current Mayor hates her Police force. Actions speak louder than words. She has done everything possible to lower our morale and demoralize the Police Force. When I was a kid Police were looked up to. I would feel that I failed if anyone of my children became Police Officers. Are hands are tied and we have become human garbage haulers. I have two more years and I will be leaving with 29 and a day. I always said I wouldn’t leave anything on the table. Now most are leaving as soon as they can. I don’t blame them. This job is not the same thanks to politicians and the media. It has always been a thankless job but, we were once appropriated by the good people.
You poor coppers in shitcago can’t chase, but we can in Indiana and have no problem chasing folks back to Chicago. Wether it be a criminal or a commander if you run, we have fun.

Word on the street is they are starting a “Can’t We All Just Get Along” strike force. They will work mostly in areas of low crime and be manned by highly trained CAPS personnel (unless they are needed in the office to file things).
terminating or not pursuing was the RIGHT call. had the car wrecked and the victim injured or killed, her family would be out there blaming the police and the coppers would be held accountable. afterall...criminals are not responsible for their actions
Speaking of questionable calls, I'm not sure which is worse: being forcibly kidnapped by a criminal or being dropped off in a bad neighborhood after said kidnapping...
So, why have police at all if they can't police ?
Hire after the fact report takers and have teams of named offender arrest squads.... detectives.

I was on the zone that night. The unit in the chase called it out for traffic, no mention of the kidnapping.
Don't chase. Cementhead, bug eyes and moondawg have a nice warm seat waiting for you at 2111 w. lexington where you can think about your glorious chase until the 30 pending comes down and you become a truck driver.
I might know the criminals if the media supplied better physical descriptions. It’s hard to find ‘someone’ or ‘four males.’
Officers never mentioned a kidnapping over the air, just the car was wanted for eluding. Crowded downtown? Terminate that all day.

Too bad the woman in the back seat wasn't a concealed carrier. A well placed shot to the back of the head would have ended that kidnaping and rid the world of another cancer.
What citizens need to know is that these criminal savages know this already. They fear no condequences. They do not fear the police. They run because it is a game to them. They know that even if they are arrested they will be released the same night or next morning. They don't fear their father. They never met him. They have no moral compass and they have been taught that they are victims, so anything they do is justified.
Don't chase even if you onviewed a 0110. Kim Foxx wants to throw you in jail and the Mayor wants to fire you at any cost. Don't give them an easy one.

Chases are dangerous. BUT at time necessary.
There are technologies/approaches available to make chases less dangerous. Electronic car trackers, helicopters, having a chase coordinator organize boxing, car disablers...

Great hearing that this weekend will be in the low 90s. Should have yet another weekend filled with dead children, bullet-ridden ‘people,’ downtown looting/mayhem, Red Line Robberies and Monday Morning Mayoral Mouth-foaming about ‘more’ bad restaurants not social distancing their tables far enough and reckless White families visiting the Indiana Dunes, then bringing guns and Covid-19 back to the vulnerable ghetto rats.
Some years back I recall when a group of stick up men entered a Japanese restaurant on the North Side. The police showed up and the thugs were allowed to leave in a car and they took a hostage. The chase ended on the Ryan when the thug driving was boxed in and shot. I don't think any of this would happen in today's climate

Hey Sparky ya might wanna read the pursuit order, chasing is prohibited once the offending vehicle disregards a controlled intersection , stop sign included, not sure how far in the city ya can get without passing one of those !
Get this straight. You are heroes or zeros. There is no middle ground. If you chase this car, and it crashes you are a zero. The girl in the back will blame you for her injuries. Zeros end up in court as defendants. Zeros lose their jobs (seem they would be doing you a favor unless you have a lot years on), their family savings and overall ruin their lives.
If you follow the car, and he crashes and hurts himself, the girl, or John Q driving down the street, you, because we can't blame the violator, are to blame. Zeros are alway to blame.
If anything at all bad happens, to anyone in the proximity of this chase, you are to blame.
How to be a hero? Work to contract. Don't take personal responsibility for law enforcement. That ship has sailed. Don't take any actions that will be questioned by the ACLU, don't lie to suspect to get a statement, don't do pre-text stops, don't stop anyone on less than probable cause, don't chase, and don't arrest anyone that you can avoid arresting. Do you the job for which you are paid to do, following the rules to the letter.
Be a Hero to your family by going home at night. Be a Hero to your kids, no one else matters.

WTF, they drive like idiots, dress like fools and don't know how to tell time, are always late, drive like idiots, etc. And yes I do have kids too. This job needs a pro to come in and teach them how to drive period. They all think lights and sirens are part of a video game. Ruling thru a dead red is not a game. I know a few cops that are in wheelchairs because of crashes. Ask around young hardchargers. When you have to have another person change your clothes, feed you, help you wipe your ass, itsnot fun

There are those that say if you follow the pursuit policy feel free to chase. I say, those people are the problem with this job. You will never convince me that during a pursuit there aren't multiple traffic violations committed that place lives in jeopardy. You are a fool if you chase anyone, regardless of the crime they may have committed. One other thing, victim's lie! So, you get a call about a kidnaping and you chase only to find out later that the caller "fibbed a bit" adding that he thought baby momma was in the car. Crash, death(s) and you are screwed. Never chase - NEVER CHASE!

The unknown is also a factor. How can POs know if there's a kidnapping victim inside? POs will default to no chase. As SSC said citizens you're on your own.
The logic here is when police chase they're escalating a situation and when things go bad it's the police's fault. So if the police don't chase nothing bad can happen. See! This one was let go. I'm sure all future involuntary passengers will be let go. And if not? Well at least the monster police didn't escalate things.
There is nothing to chase for. Absolutely nothing. Don't give them a reason to fire you or lock you up.
This is some sick fucking shit. I wish there was more I could say, but I can't. There are no words. Our society is gone. It's literally like they want us to just get down on our knee and accept whatever happens to us.

Personal Policy as of 14 July 2020, effective throughout City of Chicago and Cook County: NO Pursuit UNLESS one or more of following: Murder, Rape, Kidnapping/ Child Abduction, Child Molestation, Terrorism/ Weapon of Mass Destruction ( I.e., explosive device weighs more than JayBee). Emotionally, I am tempted to pursue for Cruelty to Animals, but intellectually I cannot justify this. I remember that case. After the thugs took the girl and drove away, an order was dispatched on all radio zones and all citywide frequencies: Don't chase, follow or engage the bad guys. This was repeated over and over.
SOG guys spotted the getaway car on the Ryan. Driving at 80+ mph, they pulled alongside the bad guys and they shot the driver thug in the head. Naturally the car went out of control, but rolled up the grass embankment and was softly stopped by the chain like fence. The SOG guys called it in and responding units captured thugs, driver dead at scene, other thugs rattled but ok. Hostage was ok. This was before SWAT and HBT. Whoever negotiated the original release of thugs with a hostage, WC, DC or Street Deputy, was beyond bat shit crazy. This was before any contract. We were at will employees of RJD.
The SOG guys said they heard the description of the "wanted vehicle" but did not hear the leave them alone order. What saved them was the hostage.
She went on all media saying the police were "heroes." She explained that the robbers taunted her, saying they were all going to rape her, over and over, till she died. She further said she would rather die in a car crash, than being raped repeatedly.
Now the SOG guys were off the hook.
Before any officer thinks it's OK to chase and engage based on this "war" story, this all happened BEFORE YOU WERE BORN. Today . . .
The City of Chicago is sick and tired of paying out millions and millions of dollars in lawsuits due to police involved shootings, police chases, and police wrong doings.
Who cares. The citizens of Chicongo hate their cops more than their criminals. Just collect that’s it.
