May not escape to Kenosha, but every trip up to the cabin always stock up on groceries - 5.5% sales tax and gasoline - under $2.00 a gallon. What happens in Kenosha County, stays in Kenosha County. The liberal parts of the state stuck.

Kenosha is my home town. Two weeks ago the weirdest disaster we had was a tornado in January. The biggest racial "incident" was in 1988 when the mayor at the time introduced Rev. Jesse Jackson as a "spearchucker."

Kenosha has been portrayed in national news stories and, now, in campaign ads as a place magnified by the events here that could have happened anywhere. In reality, Kenosha is a city of 100,000 that went from rust belt manufacturing town (when American Motors caught a cold Kenosha got pneumonia) to 1980s "welfare magnet" to a bedroom suburb where, unlike years past, if you're breathing you can find a job (Amazon sometimes hires 1,000 people at a time). This is a blunt, salt-of-the-earth place where people do not talk in euphemisms, restaurants have signs touting Italian food made by Italians, the housing stock is quite good, the population booming and along with it an upscale black middle class and race related discussions go along the lines of having lunch with the NAACP and city council president who says, "I'll give you that there are some people who need to be making license plates if you recognize that there are some racist cops." Deal made.

Despite our conservatism of sorts and earthiness this isn't podunk. Between Cook and Milwaukee Counties the three counties along Lake Michigan (Kenosha, Racine and Lake) are about 1.2 million people sandwiched in between two urban centers. People from there come here to shop.

So this sets the scene for the many calls, E-mails and even snail mail letters I've had from friends and colleagues all over the world who saw the news reports and asked if I was safe. This includes friends in Ireland, Denmark and the Netherlands.

The news accounts politicize, embellish and posture but seldom reflect what really happened and is happening here. Here are some "tales from the front." Kenosha will be the blueprint used by other cities that experience this type of calamity both in terms of what we did wrong and what we got right.

First, what started it? This is interesting because there has been a substantial failure of transparency from the police. The state law here (which was the result of advocacy by a Kenosha man whose son was killed by a police officer) requires an independent outside investigation which is usually done by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. They came, made a brief statement and said they'd send the results of their investigation to the District Attorney in 30 days. The police had a few sentences that basically said a man was shot by the police and the state is handling the investigation. This despite an almost immediate broadcast of a viral video that showed the shooting (seven shots). There was no explanation of why the officer did what he did until a few days later when the police union offered some details following the burning (over 30 buildings) and looting. (continued in part 2)

(part 2)
What we do know comes largely from a hodgepodge of sources, The police got a domestic abuse related call and, upon encountering the focus of that complaint, Jacob Blake, discovered that there was an active felony arrest warrant for sexual assault. When the officers tried to make the arrest Blake resisted and a Taser was used -- twice -- with no results. Blake is seen on a second viral video fighting with officers and then be breaks away and begins walking with guns pointed at him toward a car. In the first video (as of yesterday 28 videos have now surfaced) Blake has officers behind and in front of him as he walks toward the car, moving his arms. The man who shot the first viral video said he heard the police yell "drop the knife" although he says he did not see the knife himself. A freeze frame from the video shows an object looking like a knife in Blake's left hand. He then proceeds toward the officer who shot him and, as the officer is moving back, opens the door and begins to reach inside and get into the car. The officer tried to prevent Blake from entering the car by pulling his shirt without success. Then he fires seven rounds from a semi-automatic police pistol into Blake (witnesses say in the back) who is critically injured but survived. Immediately after he is shot the officers begin first aid on Blake. The state DOJ a few days later said that a knife was found on the floorboard of the car (where it could have been put or dropped by Blake).

Much of the account I wrote comes from sources other than the police who essentially said nothing with no explanation of why the officer did what he did. This has enraged much of the community. The longer the community waits to hear the less it will be believed because of the time in which to potentially fabricate it. Officer involved shooting protocols usually delay these disclosures and I suspect strongly that's an outdated model when everyone has a cell phone and there's video up in seconds for the world to see (as was the case here). Moral of the story for the police: Tell your story. Tell the truth. Tell it right away. And if you don't someone else will be telling it anyway and you may not agree with their version.

What is also particularly odd is that the evidence, such as it is, is fairly favorable to the police. This is not Breonna Taylor -- an innocent woman mistakenly shot in her home -- or George Floyd who for a nominal offense was maltreated by a deranged police officer with a history of misconduct. (Note: In all the serious police use of force cases I reviewed it's seldom the bad cops who shoot. More likely some frightened kid.) Here there was a wanted violent felon who fought with officers, assaulted them, walked away after being "tased" twice, reportedly was armed with a knife which he disobeyed commands to drop (unlike cases where police shoot without warning) and is not shot until he dives into a car where his hands cannot be seen and after breaking away from an officer who tried to prevent it by grabbing his shirt. If true, these facts are generally quite favorable to the police and, having reviewed use of deadly force cases, would seem to justify the use of deadly force if the officer reasonably believed that Blake was armed with a knife and the officer (or someone else) was within striking distance (often called the "21 foot rule"). This is not a terribly high tech case and perhaps much damage could have been prevented had the police at least offered some immediate explanation for the shooting. The need for transparency is compelling and immediate and I suspect officer involved shooting protocols in the future may stress this. If, in fact, the shooting was justifiable (and arguably there's an 85% chance or better that is the case), the community fears a delayed decision on charging the officer could result in a second round of riots. ("We have the National Guard here now so why not get it over with?")

(PART 3) The police and political response was delayed. The request for the National Guard wasn't made until 3 a.m. Monday and then only 125 were initially sent (12-hour lead time). Another triage/debriefing point is that police management and mayors need to get on this within, say, 15 minutes. If the city was been closed off to outside traffic immediately the influx of out-of-town elements could have been minimized. From past experience law enforcement knows that there is almost a script that is played out in these situations where peaceful protests are used as cover for criminal activity, arson, looting and anarchy and often it is done by extremists seeking to place the blame on someone else. At the height police were outnumbered four-to-one. Much of a business district was torched. Despite help from 25 other fire departments many buildings were left to burn Law enforcement concentrated on protecting the police station, courthouse and public buildings. Over $2 million damage to them and the courthouse, which took a firebomb, will reopen next week. Post office took a big hit and is out of commission.

A curfew was imposed with much of the public angered that it was initially not enforced (lack of manpower) and violence spread. Enforcement efforts were concentrated on flash points to quickly diffuse them if possible. Lord help you if you want to a gas station and tried to put gas in a container (especially multiple ones) because federal, state and local officers would swoop down on you by the time you got out of the driveway. More than half of the 250+ people arrested are from out of town, quite a few from Seattle and Portland. A converted school bus was intercepted that held multiple gas containers and intelligence was that it was going to be used as a bomb. Surprising was the speed in which the "outside elements" came here as if there was an organized plan. That is something the feds are starting to look at. Two men from Missouri with a cache of weapons were arrested after a tip from Iowa police that they were headed here and planned to engage in violence.

And then we have the nut jobs including a 17-year-old wannabe Rambo with his AR-15 whose mommy dropped him off in the middle of a riot. He ultimately shot three people, two fatally, and is being hailed in some quarters as being persecuted. How did this little twit (reminds me of the volunteer firefighters prosecuted for arson in that they set fires they later put out) slide under the radar? He was outside a closed gas station at 63rd Street and Sheridan Road that had some riot damage. There are two gas stations across from each other at 60th Street and Sheridan Road -- one of the main cross-intersections for the protesters -- that escaped damage because they employed heavily armed private security. Those gas stations were a block south of a car lot that was torched next to the Unitarian church and two blocks east of other buildings that were destroyed. The kid was thought to be part of the private security guarding the gas stations so when he was tossed a bottle of water and thanked it was consistent with the fact that the armed private security had control at 60th and Sheridan and they thought he was with them. When he did shoot the police immediately responded and combed the area. They missed him because they thought he made it to the elevated Union Pacific/Metra railroad tracks nearby and they were searching for him along the tracks and the commuter trains were held while they did this. Interesting how a couple of million has been raised for Jacob Blake and quite a bit for little Rambo. This will be an interesting trial. (continued in part 4)

part 4

When all of this is studied and debriefed -- if it is -- the bottom line will likely be that there is organization to this chaos and communities and states will need to have plans in place to immediately respond to get ahead of a situation and keep the genie in the bottle if at all possible.

Unless you were living under a rock somewhere by now you've seen a gazillion times the fires, burned out buildings, etc., in Kenosha and the devastation was quick and heartbreaking. I'm not jay saying that because it's the typical thing to say: it was heartbreaking. Many of you have probably seen interviews with people whose lives were devastated by this as well.

Allow me to tell you what you probably didn't see (although there have been documentary crews in town the past couple of days). Probably 75% of the commercial plate glass in town is boarded up to try to prevent arson and looting. While the television images you've seen are reminiscent of Beirut to Baghdad what you probably haven't seen is emotionally very moving and powerful. At least two-thirds of the plywood has been turned into artwork, including some beautiful murals, reflecting positive messages of peace, love, unity, racial tolerance and so forth. I do not have enough adequate words to relate how powerful this is.. We've already had the state historical society and Smithsonian ask that the plywood be retained when it is removed because of how unique and historically significant it is.

We had hoped that our local and state officials would have gotten on top of this immediately and flipped the script but that was not to be and they played catch-up as a result. Perhaps we may get some potential articles out of this -- certainly a lot of potential. There is plenty of blame -- and credit -- to go around.

One thing I didn't mention is how traditional media failed and new media triumphed. The local commercial radio station moved to Gurnee. It once had a four-person local news department but nothing now. The public radio station did some stories. The newspaper is dying by a thousand cuts. You Tubers (one guy went around town on a skateboard) provided video coverage and the police scanners were the only way to know what was happening and where. These alternate sources were the primary way to find out what was happening and to protect your family. Stay safe,

Well Joe Biden started off the tourism in Kenosha on Thursday by visiting the family of sex offender Jacob Blake who was shot by the Kenosha Police. President Trump went to Kenosha on Wednesday and met with law enforcement. What does that tell you? The Democrats are trying to glorify this piece of shit just like they canonized “Saint George of Floyd” the scumbag who died in police custody in Minneapolis.

On the day Blake was shot Kenosha Police responded to a call of violating a restraining order in which the victim alleges Blake sexually assaulted her. When police tried to place him in custody he resisted arrest and had a knife and was shot by the police. See the Kenosha Police Union account of what transpired, google their account, against all the coverage in the gushing mainstream news media.

My point is that the Blake family, their lawyers, the news media and the Democrats are trying to turn this shooting into a racial incident. The media even shows that the holy Blake family who used to live in Evanston even had a relative who was a pastor there.

To get perspective on all this watch the Tucker Carson Show 9/3/20 full show Breaking Fox News which can be seen on Youtube or Fox.
So Carlson calls out Joe Biden who says that cops want to kill African Americans because their black.
Carlson even quotes one of Biden’s ads regarding police murders.

So the father of Jacob Blake is Jacob Blake Sr. who met with Biden,is being proclaimed as a great civil rights leader by the media & Dems. But Carlson exposes him as a vile racist by showing his social media history. Blake Sr. is a supporter of Black Muslim leader Louis B. Farrakhan of Chicago. He is also anti police, anti white and anti Jew. Some of his racist rantings on video are shown.

So Carlson said that Biden and his handlers knew of this prior to going to Kenosha. So why would he go there? He went there to stir up racial discord and the war against the police. These Democrats are no friends of ours!!

After reading that guy from kenosha, I'm glad we moved to northcentral wisconsin as he reminds me of someone I spoke with who lives in madison. When I brought up the riots he said 'they only got violent when the police got violent....and regarding all the boarded up businesses, they have pretty art all over them and they will be put into some museum to be part of the history of madison'.

Said "nutjob rambo" works in kenosha as a lifeguard and after work that day, he went to help clean up the graffiti the democrats sprayed all over buildings. Then was invited to go and help protect a business by the owner who has three and already lost 2. As he is trained in first aid, he brought along his first aid bag and someone gave him an AR to protect himself as, well, we can see these "peaceful protests" are that in name only. They are democrat mobs.

He was with a group at that gas station who prevented the democrats from rolling a burning dumpster into it to set it afire. They used a fire extinguisher to put it out and that enraged the democrats. This was the friction point for that democrat child sex offender who was later shot and killed...at that site.

Kyle became separated from the rest of his group because he went to give first aid to someone and then the PD wouldn't let him back into the area where his group was. Now alone, the mob and said sex offender recognized him and chased after him.

The rest is shown on videos of him defending himself. There are unaccounted for shots, but Kyle only shot when a person was attacking him. And he was running to the police line after the initial shooting. Self-defense = rambo to some I guess.

Madison, milwaukee, SE WI is sort of all the same. Come to central/northern WI. We laugh at people down there who keep trying to tell us what to do, what we aren't allowed to do. Yeah, we ignore them too.

"The longer the community waits to hear the less it will be believed because of the time in which to potentially fabricate it"'

To the Kenosha storyteller, True but they don't even wait at all, they always assume the cop is guilty from the very beginning, they don't wait until an actual investigation takes place like civilized adults do. They did this same thing when that gentle giant Brown was shot. And all the lies that came out of that (i.e. that he had his hands up). Social media fabrication and it becomes lets loot because it's an opportunity not because they are angry about some scumbag getting shot or killed. And then making this pedophile and that other scumbag a couple of saints. That's what the community does every time. Even with great video handed out to the media immediately, they always wants the cops head and the criminal scumbag is their hero. Explain that part please.

"We've already had the state historical society and Smithsonian ask that the plywood be retained when it is removed because of how unique and historically significant it is". Oh yes those lovely messages written on the plywood of love, tolerance and racial equality. Written by liberal hypocrites that are part of the problem. Just more virtue signaling. Bet they have lots of videos of themselves making these works of art. More look at me moments they can post to social media. But if you call it beautiful, okay that's your opinion. Oh sure the liberal art lovers see this as historic. Of course what about all the statutes they have been torn down around the country and the ones they still want down. Have you seen that list? That too is rather historic. Maybe the fragments could go in their museum if it's still standing or anything left in it. All we need is love, except BLM/Antifa and the democrats are not about love at all. It's all a con game, a power grab. And these fools making the signs, do they really think that helps, changes anyone's mind about all this fabricated BLM rubbish and the riots. Wanting these works of art makes a nice fluff piece for the newspaper. Hey they are tolerant as long as you believe as they do. All this bs about racial inequality when they won't ever talk about the core problems in the black community.

As far as the kid, he shouldn't have been there, but he was there to help, to protect from looting. The Antifa idiots started it, he finished it. And good luck to him.

Why has the main street media not shown the secondary footage of Blake resisting arrest, getting tased, and other infractions. Was it 7 shots fired, and seven bullet wounds, seems like alot of bullets hitting someones body and surviving. When his baby mama is yelling "Don't Do It Jacob, Don't Do It" when he rounds the front of the car she knows exactly what he has and what he plans to do. Democrats running the town took hours to ask for the Guard and then the twit Governor bashes the cop and takes the hood rat's side. They'd have to be awfully stupid not to know it was going to be a shit storm. Kenosha PD and the other coppers a good job with what they had but with all the intel out there you'd think someone would have said enough of this bullshit and gotten on top of it. This traveling shit show is going to the next town and maybe they'll learn something. And the media threw gas on it. Sheesh.

I take my dating very seriously. Except for this:

Meanwhile, back at the oasis, the Arabs are eating their dates.

I know that has nothing to do with the subject matter. I just felt like saying it.

Now, kees me you fool!!!!

To the numb but who wrote the 4 part story, next time read the alternative media. Or better yet, I’ll smack you about the head and body with a skate board and you just take it. Honest to God, by now it’s clear, including video evidence, that Kyle was in the right consistently. He even stood down when a person was standing in front of him with his hands up.
You’re a hump. Your credibility is shot.
