Hey Media

Here's another story for you to steal without attribution:

  • This week, a brand new academy class, 20-4, started over here at Fort Fellatio.. ahem, sorry: Fort Covid.

The city went all-out, dug deep, pulled out their big guns and raked in huge numbers for this new class. They searched all across the city, county, state and great land of ours to find these new jacks. And found a grand total of... 26 people, to become the newest members of our big blue family.

26 recruits. 26. Twenty-six....... That’s all the city could come up with.

You can’t cover a month of retirements with 26 recruits. You can barely cover a fucking baseball team. The last class was under 40, the one before that under 40, the one before that under 50. God help us.

The Department is literally a year away from a real crisis. You can see it in these numbers (people taking and passing the entrance exam by date):

  • Dec 2010: 6,428
    Dec 2013: 12,714
    Apr 2016: 8,921
    Apr 2017: 7,437
    Dec 2017: 6,361
    May 2018: 3,720
    Dec 2018: 3,964
    Jun 2019: 897
    Aug 2019: 779

Fun Fact! The last eight exams have been the EXACT SAME EXAM. And no one knows their scores. If they pass, they get a lottery number, so the Academy might get someone who has failed the exam seven previous times, but finally drew a high number this time.

At this rate, we won't even be getting our RDOs off.

Here is an idea. Empty out the trainers for inservice training. Why do we need 5 separate instructors a Sgt and Lt to teach one class (even CPS doesn’t have it that good). Have one of them make a video and we can watch it on e learning and all those PO’s who don’t have to work the street can head back to the districts and show us all how it’s done.

OT: did everyone see the thing out out by the department about covid testing at rush. It said Rush is holding 150 spots open for first responders everyday and that they won’t charge. Then the last line... it says “BUT, the company that performs the test will charge.” So, if we go to rush hospital for a covid test, it appears that we will be charged for the test. Fucking department. Can never do anything right. I can go to a Walgreens and get a free test, but this department can’t arrange a free test for us. What a joke. Make sure to read that last line before you sign up for any testing at Rush so you aren’t surprised by a huge bill you may incur.

Holy shit is the police department doomed! And then so are the citizens of Chicago. What the hell is Lightfoot doing to Chicago? She’s killing it. There will be well over 150 retirements alone by the time this tiny class even graduates. Also figure in the resignations and transfers to other departments. The media should FOIA this. Law enforcement has been destroyed and Lightfoot has made it very very very unappealing for any young kid considering joining the CPD. Way too risky. Then add no contract for 4 years, lower pay than the suburban departments, purposely under funded pension, and forced residency. Not a very attractive job. The suburban and majority of American cities need lateral transfers to get applicants, but they pay better and don’t force residency. Chicago can’t even consider lateral transfers due to the antiquated residency requirement. The aldermen better wake up and fast. They better do something positive to attract applicants. Or It’s going to be very hard to fix.

There are currently 668 officers in the two year wonder units. Get rid of all the units and send them back. All of them. Let’s just say they get evenly dispersed to all 23 districts that’s 30 bodies per district. 10 per watch. Let’s say they go to half the districts, then that’s 60 per district. Then open up some bids and let old timers bid to the other districts that weren’t filled.

26??? I’m actually surprised they even got 5. I expect the numbers to drop even more. Things are getting worse on the CPD. Sadly, not better. That’s not good for the future of the CPD. The war on the police isn’t working out so well for recruiting, is it Lori? The no contract thing? Probably doesn’t help either. The residency requirement is definitely a major killer. Especially now more than ever. When all the surrounding departments and cites all over America don’t require residency, why would anyone on the fence about going into law enforcement pick Chicago? Far better choices with cities that are nice to their cops. Sad

As of now Wisconsin residents ages five and older are required to wear a face covering when they are indoors or in an enclosed space with anyone outside their household or living unit. Another budding dictator in Wisconsistan.

younger people research everything online, all someone has to do is read our online directives, coupled with way better places to live - hense why would any one work here unless it is a last resort. As of now, compared to other jobs- no days off, residency, high crime, high taxes, terrible leadership, only a 10% of officers will be promoted - and thsts cut to 3% due to cheating and clout, Let alone being sued, murdered, or going to prison & then there's COPA ready to fire you on justified or petty actions, & working in high crime places - just forgot - the pension fund will dissolve.

Just 26...I think CPS has a contract agreement that limits class size (per StayAtHome teacher) to 30. Just sayin’.
Maniacal Larri fast tracking the pension fund depletion comes to mind.
LightFührer is not interested in maintaining any police force and really there’s never been any official standard minimum on books. All time highs once the mid-13,000’s are long gone and every other city agency seen either more “jobs” or newly created agencies. Subtle defunding and FakeNews isn’t interested until some of them or politicians get seriously victimized.

Larri is padding patronage jobs elsewhere, doling out as needed, especially in the management sectors (commissioner, director, asst. comm, asst. direct, operations supervisor, asst etc,etc etc.) so many cheefs’ and very few hourly workers but plenty went into program directors (ballot harvest terminals) so they can hire on census cowhands and covid contact tracers.
If Covid’s was blamed for rising crime and deadly violence then an easy $100 mil could have been plopped down on hiring without a peep.

Larri needs to build an army. She’s still being dogged by Team RëichsWrinkle. Larri cutting $64 million from the CPD budget AND reduces manpower (btw - CFD got a $60+ million budget increase with a few more hired added too).

No majority of council he/she/theys are willing to stand up to the angry imbecile dwarf toad. In fact they had ZERO input or affect on negotiations over her minions new budget proposal and ultimately gave Larri the glad hand just to keep a couple “jobs” in their offices.

Just 26 new hires...what’s the total manpower Roster (for furlo selection purposes) at the Academy...100-150 ??? Wow.

Wait until some of these new hires decide to take their State certification elsewhere after graduating the academy. They'll be selling to the highest bidder, even if they can't lateral in to another agency. Suburbs hire certified people, FTO them, and put 'em on the street Saves alot of time and money; hell, even ISP does it (they started again, per the Merit Board website).

WOW!
Sad.
Back in the 1970s to the mid 1990s there would be 20,000 or more lined up to take the test.

But the lack of applicants is not a problem unique to Chicago. It is a nationwide problem. With the relentless war on cops by the media, cops being thrown under the bus and thrown away, the acceptance of violence against the police and the defunding movement, applicants are getting rare.

The problem is probably particularly acute in Chicago given the city's crumbling social and financial structure, the openly hostile attitude by city government toward the police, the media's biased superficiality of reporting police actions all are factors.

And the residency ordinance doesn't help.

It was possible that a second Trump term would instill some hope for policing in n America and even America itself. But that hope is fading. The Harris/whoever administration will have BLM as a cabinet level status.

With no administered police force the results will be vigilante justice. Or like the Purge.

And it takes a long time to test and graduate them(if they show up) And when no one takes the test or reports to the academy, what does the city do? The number of cops alone that are leaving and going to other departments with less than 10 years is astonishing. Why are they leaving? Multitude of reasons but residency is probably the main reason.

Maybe Chicago has to pony up some more money to get people to want to live in Chicago to be police officers. Chicago is a very expensive place to live especially if you have to move there. My guess is if they allowed new police officers to live outside the city they would get a whole lot better response. When you can get paid the same and live in an area that is a lot cheaper and more desirable, what incentive is there to apply for a job where you don't want to live.

They say you lose roughly 1/3 of the remaining pool at each step due to no-shows and failures.

First power test- 779-78= 701

Written psych- 701-60 = 630

Drug test- 630-63 = 567

Psych interview- 567-56 = 511

Medical check- 511-51 = 460

Background investigation 460-46 = 414

Final power test 414-31 = 373.

So according to typical processing estimates, if 779 people take the exam, you can ballpark 373 candidates deemed “suitable” for hiring.
In today’s climate, I would say far far less- maybe roughly around 300?

And that’s scraping the bottom of the barrel. Just because someone manages to show up and pass the low standards set by the city doesn’t exactly make them an attractive or desirable candidate.

We are screwed.

Add the COPA attacks and doxing, no contract, it ain't attractive.

Sad

Ha! The only thing i can agree with you on is no residency. Definitely could be a game changer though. In terms of treating cops nice maybe the citizens but many suburban departments bend you over harder than Chicago. I took a shot at a nice western suburb department and came running back during the summer of riot season. Residency wasn’t enough to keep me around. If you want out of the city than find another career all together.

And how many of those 26 shortly after graduation will lateral transfer to another department? The Chicago tax payers pay to train and certify them and another city reaps the benefits. Why? Better pay. Better environment. They have a contract. Funded pension. No residency. City hall is doing everything wrong right now with the CPD. Better wake up aldermen.

Eh better pay? Not really maybe a couple departments may be better pay. You would need more than $9200 to offset duty availability, uniform allowance, and the increased health care contributions for a similar policy. Plus many of surrounding suburbs get much of their operating revenue from businesses. Not a nice feeling if the board wants to do layoffs or have you take a furlough day or two each week every time the government wants to shutdown businesses. At least in Chicago they bend you over and slip a few extra dollars in your g string for your troubles.

Now that Biden and "da ho" are running the military, expect any and all real men to get out of the military at their soonest opportunity. Do you know what breaks Rangers, Special Forces, Rangers and, Marines? Boredom. Wokeness. Nonsense. Making every single day challenging and hard is the best way to retain bad dudes. The best dudes volunteer for the nastiest training, knowing that it will suck. In the 90s, re-enlistment at my unit was 100% for several years.
There is no other reason to spend that much time away from your family. You don't mind getting shot at because the men in your unit are doing it too. Without out that, our military will be a pack of pussies that rely on drones anf gadgets.

I remember this day like it was yesterday, even though it was over a quarter of a century ago. After taking the power test we were all hearded into a classroom and sat down at desks. As someone who worked in the suburbs before Chicago I have the utmost respect for my suburban brothers and sisters. If you never worked in the "burbs" you don't realize how petty the local government can be. Its like working for a little kingdom. Groot sucks but at least we can transfer from district to district. If the local chief or mayor doesn't like you your career is dead there. Believe it or not you can actually get promoted to Det. Sgt. or Lt on the the list here. As for those of you talking about sending your kids to suburban public school trust me they have huge issues out there too, no matter the racial make-up of the suburb. Don't forget the higher property taxes. If you really want to get away you have to leave the state of Illinois.

Truth is though most suburban agencies are a joke. Most CPD officers who leave come back. The suburbs are so political it’s in your face with police kissing ass. Kissing the police chief’s ass to make him feel empowered, go to DuPage county SWAT, become a detective. Pucker up and smile. I can imagine that Carol Stream is cliquish AF. Yeah CPD has its sucky moments but the medical is second to none. The Union is powerful and will actually challenge the brass. Besides must be something you’re missing or you wouldn’t be on here living vicariously through us and leaving comments as if we give a fuck.

As the number in the rank and file is decreased through attrition and piss poor work environment shit happens. The folks living on the political plantation of the Socialist Democrats will be sacrificing their own to Chicago killers and shooters at an increased rate. CPD has plenty of evidence tape and Mr. Chalky has a pocket full of chalk. There are plenty of white sheets to cover the murder victims. The Crook County Coroner's Office always has extra refrigerator trucks for those unreported mass shootings.

Murder in Chicago is good business. Actually in Chicago, the murder business is the only business that hasn't been closed by the midget and the Springfield Pig due to the Wuhan Red Death.

The midget, Kim Fuxx and the judicial comedy team of Tim Evans and the Black Robes sing, dance and pronounce funny stories from the bench about social justice and crime in Murder City. The Community liked it so much they brought these fun kids back for another four more years. Community participation is at an all time high with over 700 murders and 3800 shootings. They're dying to get in on the antics and humor of crime in Shitty City. Local Pravda media critics are raving about the great work being done by these three comics.

Read how good these public servants really are in Pravda - where they tell you their truth, their way and you better believe it. Now, let's all go for a ride on the Red Line. Common man!

3:47PM... Hate to be that guy, but “you’d need $9200 to offset.” Uhhh, when I left CPD, I took almost a $20K raise in the suburbs with MUCH better benefits and a pension in bad shape, but not near as bad as the city. MANY suburbs start their brand new Academy recruits in the mid $50’s. Many also do large pay bumps and top off relatively quickly.

With that also being said, a lot of agencies look down on CPD. I have a good friend who has been trying to leave actively for the past year or two. He’s wrapped up 3 different processes and with all 3, he was rejected. One northwest suburb, told him outright that their town / agency isnt “anything like CPD” and that he “should’ve scheduled a ride along during this process to see.” He told them he knew it wasn’t and that was pretty much the point. They just said “this isn’t the place for you” and disqualified him. So being certified via CPD and trying to go elsewhere, isn’t near as easy as it sounds.

Nope. You're actually late, because the Dems were crying about impeaching Trump within a few days of the election. They started screaming, "Resist!" at the same time. Talk about a bunch of people who couldn't - and never did - accept the results of an election, there they were.

They don't get to tell the Republicans 'that's not allowed' now, because it's what they did the entire last four years.

I'd print a batch of 'impeach Kamala' buttons, too, because this was all engineered to put her in line for the throne.

To 8:27pm:

You cannot be the police, that much is obvious.
Yes, we know there is a huge difference between only being able to hire 26, and wanting to hire 26.

Typical Chicagoan nowadays. Sure, blame Covid and “distancing procedures.”
Cool, so 26 is the limit?
You also do know that they used to recently hire 100, and put them into 4 separate rooms of 25 each, right?
And also explain why over 30 people can attend in-service training in person?
If a large classroom setting is good enough for current employees, it’s good enough for recruits.

And the CPD needs to shrink in numbers?
Yet again- if you were on the job and knew what you were talking about- you’d be saying differently. Hell, at this point I’m starting to think you don’t even live in Chicago!
The “slower” districts are getting hammered with carjackings, robberies, shootings, and murders. The busier districts are nonstop mayhem.

Days off are cancelled citywide basically all summer, how does that lead you to believe we have enough manpower?
Have you seen the posts on SCCshowing watch assignments?
Downed cars. Cars detailed out of district. Cars down at “training” (even though you’re so worried about Covid precautions and training).

In closing,
We need more than classes of 26
Out of a class of 26, there might be 7 that are worth a damn given the current state of hiring
Covid has nothing to do with hiring. You can hire 100 and put them in 4 separate rooms of 25

I get it, funding the police isn’t at the top of your agenda right now.
But there are a lot of areas that the city can trim the fat before you start cutting public safety.
FFS, cut a few aldermen!

Gonna be funny to see what the liberals cry about when they get their way with almost no police service throughout the city and the honest working citizens start defending themselves with deadly force

11/21/2020 02:18:00 PM

Eight, nine, or ten thousand?
I remember this day like it was yesterday, even though it was over a quarter of a century ago. After taking the power test we were all hearded into a classroom and sat down at desks. An instructor walked in and congratulated us and said we were now probationary police officers, and that over twenty two thousand people took the test, and we should be proud we made it.

11/21/2020 07:18:00 PM

got on in 94 and 28k took the 91 test. There was another test in 93. About 10% got hired so about 2,800

I cannot imagine only about 1k taking these new tests. That is going to be the most powerful factor in the city deciding to waive the residency requirement. Look what Wash DC is - either super rich white or super poor black - well the result is neither group wants to be a cop. It has always been the middle class families that wanted to be cops.

Sad

11/21/2020 03:39:00 PM

I have heard that many times. AS bad as CPD is the Suburbs ride you like a donkey and they know every move you make. Want to make Det? kiss our ass and you can have it, no test, then we can take it away from you at any time.

Not for me.

If these PPO's are smart, start applying to the Feds!

My old partners both did about 5 years on CPD and then resigned.

One went to FBI on a Calumet College Degree!

The Other went to U.S. Treasury Police with his UIC Degree!

Both Former CPD Officers are way happier and moved out of Illinois and the Feds paid for their moves!

Smart moves that I wished I did when I was young on this job!

Chicago is nothing but a job and not a career you hang in for anymore!

I left CPD went to an Agency in DuPage County and then I came back. You could not convince me in a million years any of that shit is any sort of blessing in disguise. God Bless and stay safe.

Let’s see. My sister is on the job and I grew up on the south side. It’s the Internet I can read the blog and enjoy the satire and content without living vicariously through anyone. I post once in a while what’s the problem? The topic is about a small recruit class and some were pointing out the low standards these days. Just thought I’d share my experience with the hiring process.
There are politics everywhere and also cliques.
Probably just as much ass kissing on your dept as in mine.
The only thing I’m missing is NOT dealing with Democrats, if you catch my drift. Enjoy your interactions with Peanut and Shorty. I’ll go investigate a garage being busted into. Hell, maybe I’ll write a few for expired plates or driving without insurance.
Hahaha!
CS is putting out a written test in the spring. I suggest you give it a whack. Otherwise enjoy Babysitting the upstanding citizens of 011.
LOL.

One year and no site of part two for the Sgts test! Way to motivate the troops. Perhaps the officers that are deployed which haven’t taken part 1 is the hold up. Either way, the dept will be lucky if “26” even care to take part 2 in a couple years. Unfucken real

Did you actually read what I wrote? I didn't advocate any of what's going to happen. Just made an observation of what is almost certainly going to happen. You have a situation where the city is broke and that isn't going to change even if the covid situation resolves itself.

Just to pay for past due pension obligations for the police department is going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 thousand police jobs. You're going to see the same thing in other departments but it's going to start in the police department because the current administration does not like police.

They have made it very clear they don't give a rat's ass whether the city burns or not. They're going to do what they're going to do until they get voted out, and given the current voting situation in Chicago that probably isn't going to happen.

If you are close to retirement and want to get your full retirement benefits, you may well get what was promised to you Even without more funding. But people that will retire 10 years down the road are going to be in a big world of hurt if the funding situation does not improve. The only place that funding can come from is by reducing current employees count. If you don't understand that I suggest you look at the city budget and see where you're going to get that magnitude of money over the next 20 or 30 years without cutting it out of the budget for paying employees.

You are all forgetting that the engineer of the budget to hurt the police is Sophia King, who is a Preckwinkle and Cabrini Kim ass licker. She is close to Kwame Raoul and her crook phony lobbyist husband was on ahole Raoul transition team and she’s close to the Obamas. She approved and encouraged the removal of the statues as she is solidly 100 % blm. She must be watched and removed ASAP.

An old partner asked me to give a recommendation for her kid. Kid is a slacker, college "c" student. Gets drunk every night. Wants to make $90,000 in a couple years. Doesn't lift weights, ever.
I came real close to saying no, but I go along to get along.

11/21/2020 08:24:00 AM

*Are you really doing anyone a favor? Kid will be danger to himself and his partner. Obviously if he is a bad drunk now, hell get worse as he puts more time on this job! Good work there pal.

to top poster you just described more than half the department. & most of the command staff shouldn't even run middle mgt at a corporate office let alone a police dept. but god speed kid. just avoid random drug. it's a minimum favor- to second poster.

That is just not true. You are the rarity. Your attitude is probably that of you can do whatever you want because you are the police and you quickly found out that you cant. The fact is the majority of people who leave CPD for other agencies are very happy. They already know how to police and more importantly, how to play the game. THey can live wherever they want, usually earn much more money, better equipment, pension far more secure, and most importantly better situations for their families.

Dominion executives no where to be found. Might have jumped ship to Brazil or China. A lot of people in FBI and CIA are having the screws tightened on them and they are starting to spill the beans. Obama/Clinton crimes are being revealed. Trump is spreading the love dangeling some carrots to the likes of Gishelle Maxwell, Eric Snowden, Julian Assauge (Wikileaks) -- big news coming that is going to rock the United States and the World.

The house of cards is going to come down. Watch and see, it will be our 1776 and when they come we all need to stand up and hold our ground. It will be ugly at first but in the end we regain our country. Monday or Tuesday, the Kracken is going to be released.

Back the Blue -- Illinois votes will be recounted. Oberweis won and maybe Obrien.

Watch the video story from Lou Dobbs when it was in CNN in 2006 about Smartmatic (Dominion) voting machines being sold to the US and how it was owned by Venezuela. They even have Ed Burke criticizing the move when Chicago bought it in 2006. I guess that explains a lot about Chicago elections. Can't make this stuff up. Click on the link below.

Friend's a laborer for Chicago department of transportation he earns $48.XX an hour. Not bad for a laborer with zero liability. He says most of the days they'll sit in the truck and play cards. So each truck has a crew of 3 or 4 or 5 laborers plus a driver and they'll either be driving around the city all day or just sitting in one spot and playing cards. Saturday's are always double time and anything over 8 hours is time and half. I was offered the same position 20 years back but chose to be a cop instead. I fucked up.

Okay, military get some leeway on age but most agencies don't want you if you have more than 5yrs of police service. DEA can put you anywhere, one mitch whined when he was sent to a bad part of Cali- it's the D E A motherfucker! Whatcha want? Tubs n Crockett Miami Vice LMAO my ex got the city of his chosing, but he was ex-military and a damn good XXX. ATF was alot of paperwork and not as thrilling as CPD Westside.. FBI gives you a lot of toys, just don't repeatedly keep getting their shiny cars damaged (Mikey;) Secret Service can be fun- lots of perks and travel. Old partner Chocolate Thunder RIP had Presidential details before he passed. Said treated very well by all Trump & Pence families

Had a relative fail the piss test.

Guess what happened they called him back a year later to take the job.
he pissed cleanly this time and then failed the background test.

The future is bleak. Guess LORIs gonna have to beef up the pay to attract normal people for this shit job.

What happened to the hair test? Piss test can be easily cheated if not observed or just by drinking tons of water with creatine pissing a few times before the actual test unreal now we have a bunch of druggies on the force.

Hair test is still happening and the system is sketchy as all get out. I had a civilian offer and they failed me on a drug I've literally never touched. I'm alarmed at the amount of sworn hair tests they might be fucking up. For all we know, the positive druggies have been falsely negative and hired and the good guys failed when they did nothing wrong. Something sketchy is going on in the random drug section.
