So the Community Safety Teams (CST) have been stealing manpower from the Districts for a few months now. Guess how big this unit has gotten?
- A current search of A and A’s / assignment roster has their manpower listed at get this:799 PO’sAnd 65 Sgts.That’s doesn’t include the 100 or so assigned to recently added CIRT unit either
That's nearly three entire Districts worth of manpower.
Doing what exactly?
- 720 dead
- 3200+ maimed

Remember. All that manpower and it’s extreme lack of knowledge of this job is expected to get a few blue cars and ISRs and that’s it. They aren’t stopping crime not because they don’t want too, it’s because the DONT KNOW HOW TOO!!! It’s all teams with people just off probation who don’t know how to write paper and don’t REALLY know what it means to do real police work and what to really look for. 30 random traffic stops a night hoping to get lucky does nothing. Targeted traffic stops and targeted street stops in the right areas of the right people is what gets it done. But pulling over a 44 year old female for no turn signal that turns into a blue card does nothing for us. The problem is these kids see that as working because they believe that blue card means something. Getting out and articulating why you jumped out on 5 guys on a gang stronghold block and you know they are gang members who are serving and protecting the spot is a good stop. That puts pressure on people. Do that a few times a tour and you will get one to run and if he’s in a spot like that he’s got a gun or a warrant or good amount of dope etc. either way, if he’s running he’s one of the right ones. Kids don’t understand that. I understand there are body cams now... many of these units don’t have them, but even with the cameras you can 100 percent articulate why you want to stop someone or a group like that... if you can’t articulate that then you are worth a damn and have never been a real copper who has written real paper. I’m not saying it’s smart to do at all in this day and age but we all know that’s how it’s done. It still can be done but you have to be comfortable with doing it. These new people have no idea how to talk to thugs.. it’s actually embarrassing to watch.
799÷by 2 officers per car = 1,997 Blue cards a night. Looks like some one finally figured out that the Barz unit is full of shit and hasn't done anything to address the violence in hood.
Should make a unit where it’s a minimum of 6 years on with tac or gang experience preferred but not essential. No exceptions of time on the job though.

Dont volunteer, please don't, I made the mistake and boy I regret it. The Sgt's are assholes and the Lt's. To top it off my partner and I had to take two buses and a train to get to our post in the 6th Dist. We were on foot until 6pm from 11am and no where to eat. Cant wait for the detail to end.
Scratch that...not quite double now but will be be the end of the year.

They found a way to move 800 officers from decent district and redeploy them to the ghettos. Unbelievable. Right under everyone’s noses. Little by little. Now the districts are stripped so thin they have to buy back officers daily just to fill bear cars. The whole whole these cst officers are stopping 5 cars a night and going home early. This is why everyone hates this job now.

First of all they're called community safety teams. That being said the crime rate shouldn't be taken into account since these community teams are CAPS on steroids. Secondly, gangs, sat, summer mobile, a chunk of narcotics is gone. So the numbers aren't too far off from before. Just smoking mirrors.
Well I mean all those assigned are house mouses that sure know how to do house mouse paper worked correctly BUT couldn't police the ghetto streets even if they wanted to. Being able to work inside and do things that are right in front of you is alot different then hunting and searching for crime in the hood.
Just check all of those on this unit MEVER worked the streets outside of having to get their VRI activity when it was around.
So are we really missing them .. the desk srgt and watch LT are.. but not those patrolling the street.
Mismanagement are you Kidding? He is doing exactly what he was hired to do. That would be Just STFU and follow the Mayors orders. Probably looking at a big bonus for doing just that since his hire. He sure hasn't done anything esle worthwhile other than being her bitch. Yes Mayor, how high?

All these kids bitched when they got sent there reverse seniority. But now they love it because they call for beat cars to do paper on all their crashes. They act like they are SOS. And with being so young, it's just a matter of time a new scandal will pop up.
They will be the tip of the spear in the spring when the cops are all found not guilty in minneapolis and we have more riots. The only thing you ever volunteer for on this job is the food run for the desk.
If you think that’s bad, someone should ask why there are over 240 officers and 41 sergeants assigned to the training division, yes you read that correctly, when there is hardly anyone at the academy and training is limited due to Covid. 240 officers and 41 sergeants!!! My brains a little foggy after 34 years of this nonsense. What was with the high numbers in 2001-03? I don’t remember car jacking being the “Thing”. I remember a lot of outrage over domestics and of course lots of CPD security theater after 9/11.

You get what you get. You drain districts just to put people on a citywide unit for mere XYZ reason, but the beat car and districts are drained. Yup, no thanks, I'll be here helping the district clear the board than play blue card game crap. Atleast you know your area and who's with you, these units just mesh and mash anytime, but try to squeeze more manpower from everywhere to put into the unit? Yeah nope, won't end well. You see no one cares right? You see the fetal right? I will not overstretch myself for a city nor population that voted for chaos because the elected party is "X" when X has been doing terrible things. Vote for the same shit, I don't care, the river continues to flow and wash the blood into the river darker every time.

Not to mention there are zero Sgt’s working the street after lots of people have Covid, furlos, and RDOs. Yet this stupid unit get 65 Sgt’s. We need people on the street, not picking up garbage, and going home after 4 hours.
They come to the districts, don't help with radio assignments, and then call for district supervisors because their own supervisors are never on the radio monitoring. What this unit has come to be is incredibly stupid. There was one the other day who waited 45 minutes for their Sgt to finally show up. The district was at change time so no Sgt available. The offenders who wouldn't get out of the car had a gun. Now I know you'll say they're stupid for working, but that's besides the point. They had to wait 45 minutes with an armed individual before their Sgt finally decided to show up.
730 dead is the number to be reached, 2 a day everyday,. Maybe we need a unit that can point that out.

This is no Mystery Unit. It's 10% of our department being pulled from the districts to pull #'s for traffic stops. When Brown is fired, this will be one of the reasons.
Just as worthless as some tact teams. There are people who sit on tact teams in 11 that haven’t done shit for years and show up late to work every day. They’ve been there forever because nobody else wants them and they will stay there forever because SGTs are afraid to dump them. How do you go for months without an arrest when you’re tact on the west side? Go back to the watch and back up us officers that are doing actual work! Our manpower is shit!
I was a unit guy but not my entire career. And I’m not management. These kids wanted to become unit guys. So now they have their chance to show what they got. You obviously can’t throw out all those killings and jackings on them but they were in the watch when this shit happened. Be fair. These kids were waiting in the wings for their moment to shine. Lts looking to advance on these kids backs and sgts looking to get out of having to log multiple cars a tour and ride out their tours being much less busy. These kids will come in with some numbers but law suits and being hung out to dry is the what’s going to eventually happen. More of them will be down at call back fir a few years because of their willingness to get numbers for their bosses and those on the watch will just be sitting on our hands and venting on this forum because we know better and some of us were just bitter from day one or right after your first CR. Work smart but do some kind of work and if this job ain’t for you go drive a truck for Amazon or join some start up company where they appreciate forward thinking know it all’s.

Police ARE the "community safety team."
They start at 6. Go do whatever they have to do until 8:30. Hit the box for a few hours, 2 tss cards and go home. 6 hour tour. I know guys who were pissed when they got sent and now want to stay and will volunteer to stay.
I have talked to many folks who say they feel much safer now that we have CST mobilized.
According to the almighty consent decree the maximum allowable span of control is 1+10. That is one Sgt per every ten police officers, (eventhough8 is ideal). That tops out at 650. There is a flagrant and obviously intentional action contrary to the orders of the almighty decree with 149 (or so) officers beyond the scope of the allowable, authorized, ordered number. They need to short the patrol division even further and take an additional 15 sergeants to meet the mandates. Also, there are 2 Lts currently for those 65 sergeants, so that would mean they are currently short four lieutenants; six if they adequately staff the unit according to the almighty rule of law per the civilians overseeing police operations in the name of a federal consent decree. It's all smoke an mirrors folks (and people). Do as I say continues.........

Makes a very good point.
OCD for a while HAD a “vehicle hijacking team” which from the sounds of it did a pretty decent job putting patterns together, helping the dics and identifying offenders, and making arrests/clearing patterns.
In the department’s infinite wisdom- they folded the vehicle hijacking team within the last year or so I believe. That shouldn’t be surprising if you’re familiar with how the city operates.

You are on the right track. Don't forget the push to expunge and decriminalize just about every juvenile crime, even violent ones, by the City and county. then when one of these "minors" get arrested for shooting someone they can say its their first arrest even though the first 10 were expunged. There are no victims rights in Cook County, just Offenders rights.

The sergeants are stuck there because they have no seniority.
The sergeants don't want to deal with these kids and their dumb-ass shit.
Sgt. Steve Franko got fired off the job because he got stuck with the moron on his log who lit up a guy with a pocket knife 16 times.

I am one of the people in one of these units. Our LT. is a sack of shit. The old-timer P.O.s that say they don't care about anything are kissing everyone's ass to stay where they are. They bitch about the L.T. wanting numbers, then they go out and get those numbers. Haha, what a bunch of bitches! You know who you are (the few guys on days on 716.) The P.O.s that know the game might be new, but getting a few blue cards is a whole lot more than what this city deserves. The "bosses" - if you want to call them that - should be happy even to get as much. Stay fetal, my friends. Give them nothing but take everything!

It's like speeding on the Chicago interstates. Headed north on I-94, once you see a trooper with somebody pulled over, you're good to the state line, because there's only one in the zone.

The problem is Eric Carter has brown convinced that this unit will be the thing to bring down crime. Not a chance Carter will let this go. Carter put all his eggs in one basket. This unit was the Supts baby and Carter told him he could get it done. Carter made this mess and if it folds it will look bad on him. 2 year kids who want to stay off midnights won’t do a thing for crime. It’s the blind leading the blind. These kids were with FTOs less than 6 months ago for some of them now they are trying to run and gun and then put it all together?? It’s dangerous. Get people with over 6 years on minimum to make up a unit and then you might have a little more control and results.

perhaps the ""mystery teams"" are about the recent sightings of UFOs in the Chicago area and are trying to make contact,,, is what our sources tell us
Some of these posts are close to what unit 716/715 is.
1. It's to have a large force confront civil unrest quickly- it's a real concern still.
2. Have huge manpower in 011 & 007 to reduce shooting in certain areas.
3. The TSSS cards are a numbers game that at least shows cars where/are out there.
4. If some guys/gals want to do police work that's gravy for whoever & whatever.
5. Covid also decimated the ranks the past month.
The days of locking people are done. The SAs office dismisses everything now. You can't chase cars & a wrong move puts you at call back. - That's why carjackings are through the roof - sh%^heads probe , and realized there's no consequences - so they got bold & are funnin at everyone's expense.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Supervision had nothing to do with people being criminals. Especially if the supervision was involved.
Don’t blame tactical, CST and others. It’s Kim fox and her lack of prosecution , judges that release criminals on I Bonds , electronic monitoring , same people , everyday . Do zero kids , big zero to mr medals , , mr ribbons , Brown fife and the incompetent merit idiots .
Sarge at Olive Harvey cannot get there with sign in sheet until 1300 hrs , then tell us , put masks on and she done for the day
Check her vehicle , cell phone gps. She even brought her sidekick when I was there .

I agree but Is it that they don’t know how or is it when the shit goes sideways they are worried the agenda will be “those 5 guys were just having a family BBQ” when they jumped out on them.
