What fucking sense does this make. They cancel everybody’s day off, all of the watches are short, and everybody who’s days off or canceled sits in the station. They’re not going out on the streets. So the watches are all still bare-bones.
With all the days off canceled we still have beat cars that are down. Keeping them in the station just in case they get deployed. How about you put them in big cars get them out on the streets in if they get deployed call them into the station to be deployed.
This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my entire 27 year career. And you can imagine in 27 years on this department there has been a lot of stupid stuff that has happened. Is it me or is this only happening here in 012? We have three beat cars down this morning and all of these people sitting in the rollcall room doing nothing. No Rapids and we are borrowing a sergeant from the first district because the canceled sergeant start at 9 AM
We're hearing the same thing in a number of Districts. No deployment versus everyone deployed.
And just to make it interesting, the brass decided to deploy everyone who was on 3rd Watch RDO people downtown.....at 1600 hours. No particular reason - there was no gatherings or riots. We heard from a bunch of people wondering what Brownie's Magic Eight Ball told him.
UPDATE: The decision was made at 1600 - yes, we're aware the hours started at 1730. What moronic organization makes a decision of this magnitude ninety minutes beforehand? (HINT: it was Darlin.)
Brownie said there were no plans for twelve hour days. At a press conference so it's on tape. Riddle us this - what reason is there to trust Brown on anything he ever says again? Our asking if Brown was a "gutless putz" the other day has been answered in the affirmative.
LATE UPDATE (guess why?): at 1830 hours, the brassholes extended canceled days off an additional 4 hours. So instead of 1730 to 0130 or so, everyone stayed until 0530....for what exactly? Groot had another few million burning a hole in her pocket?

It gets even better. After arriving for roll call on our BS RDO canceled they suddenly decided to tell us we are now working a 12hr tour. Total assholes! Remember when our lying Supt. said there are no plans for canceling days off or 12hr tours? Yes he said it at a press conference about two weeks ago. So now we get taken away from our families again for no reason just to sit on a bus for no reason for 12hrs. And Lightfoot feels we aren’t worth negotiating a contract. Who’s motivated? Never ever trust these people.

I am not a cop but I have a close friend who’s been on the force for close to 30 years and his wife for 25 years. He told me once you would be surprised how incompetent and how unprepared we really are as a department. He said we have no plan.

I am so glad this was brought up. I’ve also been on a long time and I can’t believe how terrible the leadership is. It absolutely blows away by miles anyone in the past. Why were rdo’s cancelled to begin with? Just because it’s Halloween weekend? Wtf. How do they get away with this shit. Then on third watch we are all deployed. Came into work and found out not only are we all deployed but we are all working a 4 hour extension, putting us at a 13 hour day. So we’ll get home around 6am and then have to be back at work at 2. Just complete and total asshole jag offs making these decisions. Nothing more demoralizing than these 12 hour shifts. Who exactly is making these decisions? Is it Carter? Is it darlin? My gosh, whoever it is must have zero pulse on how this shit affects their officers physically and mentally. Constantly going through this shit of showing up to work, getting stuck for 12 hours, then finding out your rdo’s are getting cancelled just because it’s a weekend. I really feel like there’s got to be a special penance in the afterlife for the dickheads who treat their police officers like this. They’re actually worse than the shitheads on the street who MF you and fight with you. At least they don’t pretend to “have our back” or care about our well being.
Days off canceled over and over. 12hr days over and over. No family time. Plans constantly ruined. The abuse is unprecedented. But somehow Lightfoot still feels that police officers aren’t worth giving a contract too. What a terrible mayor and human being.
Maybe the 1600hr run downtown was just a "practice run" .. they did a few in the past which caused more OT to the city.

When are our unions going to stand the fuck up and do something about this abuse. There’s no way they should be able to do this to us consistently. Especially at just time and a half. We get zero holidays with our families anymore. Zero summer weekends with our families anymore. Having 3rd watch deploy downtown is something they did earlier this year. It was simply a test to see how fast officers could be deployed downtown if needed. Not sure how long they stayed downtown this time but last time it was a couple hours then everyone went back to their district. Complete shit show.
OT. Was informed last night that multiple teams were taken out of 001 last night and sent to Kimball & Wrightwood to protect LL’s house while she hosted a Halloween party. SCC, got anyone on the inside who can confirm this?
So day off cancelled today. Get to work and we’re told were being deployed to Area5. OTW to A5 and we are then told were on a 12 hour day. Talk about some pissed off people. Get there and we have to play musical busses and then get deployed to the staging area where we sit for 10 hours. No lunch ,lockdown, all is closed, no bathrooms, no mobility. Today takes it. We are fed up. Time to hit the Medial on Monday cause packing 30 coppers on a 35 seat bus is not to conforming to the Covid standards. So using this insanity against the city come Monday many of us are hitting the Medical. We are done!!!!!!

I'm all good. I've notice how Rich Daley gave CPD the first and mismanaged CPD in my earlier days. How Rahm Emanuel jerked off at CPD and then lobbied off 1400 CPD position during his time to make the budget. And know Mayor Darkfoot a straight-up Police-Hater, is doing everything possible to destroy the individual CPD officers Mindset at work and at home.
I spoke with my family and laid out the evidence on how this year will be. Everyone is on board, my family has got my back and are being supportive. So let me get this straight. 3rd watch RDO cancelled here. We get told that we HAVE to be on the bus at 1730hrs prompt to go do some kind of “response drill.” We get on the bus to go to the 19th district where we are told that “we have reports that there may be looting on the south and west sides, so we’re going to Navy Pier. By the way, 4 hours extended tour.” So we change buses to go to Navy Pier and sit there, no food or water (except a dusty nasty water fountain and a few pizzas that the bosses were forced to buy us). 2am turns back to 1am as we wonder how our life decisions have brought us here. This is about as much as I expect from this city and department.

I've never seen such absolute incompetence and mismanagement in my life. Halfway through everyone who was working a regular day's shift yesterday, we were told to now work 12 hrs. Everyone on 3rd watch came in at normal time for check-off and literally sat around the station or in our personal cars in the district lot doing absolutely NOTHING. Even if they wanted us deployed somewhere, the district I am in has ABSOLUTELY no extra squad cars at the moment. All but maybe 2 cars (the W/C car and a CAPS car) were being used by 1st watch. We didn't even have one of those rented vans or buses to even deploy us anywhere if needed. This fu%#$n department and this sg$%hole city is unbelievable. Where does the city get the money to keep paying for unnecessary overtime considering Larry and the Fat Slob have shut down IL and killed the economy and tax base here in Chicago/Illinois?? I have been searching the news all morning and can't find any big crime story that required a 12 hr day yesterday. I've never witnessed such incompetence. The command personnel have changed names but no their inability to have plans for anything in the future (4 hours to 6 months) unless told by the Secret Service for Presidential appearances.
I was in the old TF/SOG for 7+ years in the early 70's. Days off were canceled many times. The call to cancel RDO's over the weekends was made after 1600 on Thursdays. Two summers in a row our weekends were canceled the entire summer. Of course we did not have any response as the beat personnel do, but were told not to make any stops or get involved with arrests because we "might be needed". On busses in the 9th street yard with the other units. Sounds like the old playbook is in use now. SCI-City Issued, just like any property, used at their whim. We all thought they had learned a lot from the Democratic Convention of 1968, but obviously planning and respect of the workers was fast forgotten.
Lip service at that time didn't mean Daley or Washington liked us, but they didn't sh*t in our faces. Jane Byrne loved the police and said so every chance she had. Plus did not treat us like dogs. Some commanders were actual police officers and understood what the issues were, but others (company suck holes) did not. No merits at that time either.
My advice is GFO as fast as possible, It will never get any better. You cannot count on your good bosses to be there every step of the way in your career. Soft sh*t floats too.

4. Follow the rules and give them nothing more. Groot has been a failure the day she came into office. The last year and a half has demonstrated her incompetence as a public figure. Eliminate ALL online rentals like VRBO and Air B n Bs that are shorter than 3 days. Have a major meeting with the managers of all downtown hotels so they can enact tough policies eliminating hotel parties and lock people up for trespassing. All hotel guests need to show their hotel key cards before getting on an elevator and each paying guest must be registered to the room and have a card. Each room can have up to two guests maximum. If you don’t have a key card then you aren’t allowed into the elevator. This will cut down on tons.

Re the possibility of a Trump upset in IL: It is my understanding that in a statewide race, if the non-Democrat vote (GOP plus third party/independent) in Chicago hits 20 percent or more, the Dem is likely to lose. Or put another way, if the Dem falls short of 80 percent in Chicago, he/she is toast. That is what happened to Pat Quinn in 2014. I suspect that Biden could fall short of the 80 percent threshold, given that Black and Latino voters are not as enthused about him as usual, plus the effects of the riots and lockdowns. If that happens, Trump could actually win IL. It may not be likely but it's possible from the vibes I'm getting...

This sounds romantic, but......if you change horses, all the money in the legal defense fund belongs to FOP. It will go into the national fund. You will start from zero in the fund. I’m so glad that I’m not there, I’m out with COVID but I’m learning that other officers have COVID symptoms but still coming to work. What started off a a sore throat and sinus congestion turned into my worse nightmare COVID. I got it from a co-worker who wasn’t wearing a mask. It should be mandatory that we wear masks around each other because this is where the exposure is getting worse.
I was going to push myself but I though twice about being in my nice warm house, relaxing, watching the election with my family and protecting my mental health is much better than being at work around all there overzealous Bosses trying to make a name for themselves.
Officers stay safe and protect each other. Do the bare minimum unless it’s a matter of life and death of either you and or your partner. This is no time to protect one gang banger or dope boy who’s trying to shoot and kill one of his own kind. And besides why put yourself in harms way because if he don’t get him today, he will get him tomorrow.
Perhaps the next time you do an 8hr shift and they add another 4 just walk off and go home...fuck em, what will they do fire everyone in the city?

1st Duffus Carter is up to his stupid tricks again. This time he has moved Sadia, his wife, to Midway Airport, to give her a little experience before she replaces Mullane as Airport Commander.
