This is sickening. So thankful everyday that I chose to spend the money and send my kids to a catholic school. Done with this CTU BS for good. Mt Greenwood has great teachers but their union is still their u ion and they have to follow their lead weather they like it or not. So done with that crap.

In Chicago, we should distinguish between the teachers and their unions. We all know plenty of teachers that can’t stand their socialist union, but they can’t stand up because of backlash.
The Illinois Legislature can fix the CTU problem anytime they want to. The only obligation the city has to bargain with the CTU is set in state law, not federal. The only reason the CTU has a legal right to strike is set in state law, not federal. That can be taken away anytime our legislators want to and send the CTU into arbitration. People have a right to join a public union but only state law requires the government to bargain with a public sector union. Public employees are not covered by the FLSA.
Stop paying the scumbag teachers immediately. Let’s see how fast they get back in the classroom.

A large group of these wonderful and enterprising CPS Teachers have been doing tutoring on the side for $$$$.So now if I have this correct,they have not been physically at a school for over 10 months,they collect Illinois State Unemployment Benefits for the summer,and now they make extra cash tutoring students that they are supposed to be teaching in person???

I agree with this comment, but Biden and his wife have come out and said that they are against school vouchers, alternative schools and charters. The new head of the Department of Education is a former national public school teachers union head. Biden wants unions running things in every state and the end to " right to work " laws.

I had a serious dislike for teachers since I was a child. Well, most. if they cared then I cared. CPS was a damn joke, late 70's through the 80's. Funny thing, through grade school the only 2 teachers I had that were honorable and gave a damn were men. H.S. was an entirely different story.

I'm a retired Detective who has worked sex cases for a good portion of my career. I applied for a job with the Joe Ferguson's office (Inspector General) which is now apparently investigating all the allegations of sexual assault in the CPS.
Never got a response to my application. Was MORE than qualified by the standards they posted.
They are trying to bury this whole scandal.
