Her PR advance people did this and constantly monitor perceptions about police on social media and deliver reports to her weekly.And now is squad policing. The dirty little secret? This was never intended to go into effect in all those districts as planned. This was a signal sent to officers as follows: you are entitled to nothing. No day off group, no partner, no specific squad car, no beat or post, nothing. Contractually, it's weak also. LL, her labor attorneys and her negotiation lead also know this.The sooner most officers stop caring about retro retro retro retro and start prioritizing structural quality-of-life issues in the contract, she will be able to fuck us less. ie: Day off group changed? Pay me. Start time changed? Pay me. Cancel RDO's? Pay me. Staffing numbers go under minimum levels? Pay me. Working 99 on afternoons or midnights? Pay me.
As suspected, the entire name-of-the-game is demoralization.
And if Chicago happens to end up with 700 or 800 or 900 dead minorities, even if they're children, their deaths are only to further Groot's anti-police agenda....in other words, acceptable loses.

So is it in your contract that you can't strike? If you have a mass walkout, ISP and the CCPD will never be able to handle the chaos. ILNG MP company's would have to be funded by the broke ass state, no federal funding as long as Trump is in the White House. I’d say they are trying to go around state law, not just the contract. I’d say they are trying to usurp state legislative authority – the whole authorization for police powers is through the statutes. Even the fatass governor cannot do that without re-writing the law.

I am not a member of the police, and I live in the suburbs, not Chicago. For those who are...many of us recognize what is going on in Chicago, what police are being subjected to. People still don't get it. Retro is not some kind of "bonus" or "perk." Retro is money that you've already earned AND IS OWED TO YOU. Retro should be a given, not something that should be bargained for, or used as a chip in exchange to keep some other contract protection.

I sure hope not because he just got played again. First thinking he could negotiate a contract with Lightfoot only to get strung along until the last minute. This time off agreement is too vague and way too many ways for the department to ignore it. It’s not contractual. And we have no manpower. Squad policing requires manpower.

As a retired officer who came on the jog in the late 60's and saw plenty, I have to say that you are entirely correct in this. In the 70's and 80's when murder stats were around 900, and shootings up, I do not recall hearing or reading much of a protect from the media or the public. I had a homicide lieutenant who took every murder seriously and pushed us hard to solve the cases, and solve them we did. But, that was before the political do-gooder class took all of the tools away from detectives and starting putting patronage promotees in charge of D units. Now, look what we have.

Police officers in Chicago would never strike. We are different then the teachers, we really care about the kids and citizens, despite being the punching bag of the liberals. We did take an oath and most of us are serious about the oath. Maybe we complain and bitch alot, but when push comes to shove we will be there. Maybe the teachers should take an oath

We were getting paid lots of OT while many people during this pandemic were unfortunately losing their jobs. Morale while at work was pretty high too because misery loves company and we all enjoyed bullshitting with our fellow officers during those times. Broke us? No. If anything, you bonded us together. We adapted and overcame.
