Delete the Science!
The CDC is (again) revising the quarantine guidelines - because the science is settled and the election is over:
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is set to shorten the recommended length of quarantine after exposure to someone who is positive for COVID-19, as the virus rages across the nation.
According to a senior administration official, the new guidelines, which are set to be released as soon as Tuesday evening, will allow people who have come in contact to someone infected with the virus to resume normal activity after 10 days, or 7 days if they receive a negative test result. That’s down from the 14-day period recommended since the onset of the pandemic.
Whenever we post something like this, we get a bunch of comments from snowflakes who insist the science is sound and we're advocating killing people, like that Cuomo asshole did by sending sick people into nursing homes, murdering tens of thousands.
Can we all agree that Johns Hopkins is a well respected medical authority? Then ask yourself why did they pull this study?
Conventional wisdom is that COVID-19 has caused thousands of deaths in the United States and nearly 1.5 million worldwide. This perception has been directly challenged by a study published by Johns Hopkins University on November 22.
Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master’s degree program at Johns Hopkins University, critically analyzed the impact that COVID-19 had on U.S. deaths. According to Briand, the impact of COVID-19 on deaths in the United States can be fully understood by comparing it to the number of total deaths in the country.
According to the study, “in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively no effect on deaths in the United States.”
Wait, what? Really?
That’s what it says. And, it should come as no surprise that the study was deleted within days.

As to the J.H. article, I always said, compare the total death numbers of any State at year end and see how it compares to prior years. The guess was that in reality annual deaths weren’t going to be impacted greatly.

I asked someone at major hospital about the lowering of the quarantining days and she thinks the change is a personnel matter. Too many people taking off for too long and creating work force shortages. Hospitals have to follow CDC guidelines so the CDC lowers the q days so they can have more people working. This will effect the police also. Less days off.

a friend of mine told me she was at a store twice in the last week and both times one of the employees told her to pull her mask up over her nose. both times she said there was another employee walking around without a mask so she asked why she would have to pull the mask over the nose and dude doesn't even have to wear one. she said the employee told her that he has a doctor's note. The fact that you can’t discern the difference between the “economy” of business and the stock market and why/how they are not correlated affirms your ignorance. Stock markets and all asset classes for that matter are and can be manipulated in either direction. The fact that the current equity markets are urgently manipulated higher means little as to the strength of “Main Street” and businesses.

This censorship of academic freedom from a respected source should scare the living shit out of all of us. This article raises some very interesting points and is retracted without any actual scientific proof to the contrary. Heart disease kills more people than any other cause in the US for some time now and those numbers have dropped? Given enough time the studies will come out that this was all a complete lie, why this virus? We have never attempted to save everyone before so why now? The U.S. is very good at tracking deaths, especially those on social security, there should be a FOIA on every single counties death certificates, this will prove that they are padding the covid numbers when in fact the underlying conditon such as heart disease, cancer, respitroy issues were the actual casue of death. When a politician says to "follow the science" it means he has "shopped" the science to find someone to endorse his plans, such as closing restaurants, while ignoring those who say the measures aren't necessary.
Discuss this all you want and the reality remains that hospital beds are getting scarcer while the demand skyrockets. The line into the emergency room will include a number of legitimate, Covid-specific, ill people as well as another number of people who are ailing from various necessary but considered 'elective surgeries' and therefore postpone-able.
So, go re-build/re-open the McCormick Place field hospital or develop as much bed capacity as you want - who's gonna staff it when the rest of the country is getting swamped as well? You might want to consider what's going on in the ERs at Rush or UofC or Roseland or St Bernard or Glenbrook for that matter; if you haven't talked to anyone on the receiving end who has to deal with whatever pulls up to the door,you might end up trading stories.
